I hearby proudly present Eindhoven Residential tower pack Bats by: Paulvmontfort Modding and lotting by: T Wrecks Included in this pack are the 3 tallest residential towers in the city of Eindhoven in the Netherlands. The 105 meters tall ‘de Admirant’, the 96 meters tall ‘de Regent’ and the 90 meters tall ‘Vesteda Toren’ All are residential BATs. In addition, there’s also a CO$$$ version of the Vesteda Toren included. After this, it is recommended to make a new subfolder in your simcity4/plugins directory. Place the .SC4MODEL files of the buildings you want to keep in that folder. After this, copy the LOT files of the same buildings to the newly created folder. Enjoy. To uninstall, first make sure to bulldoze all instances of the building from your city, after this, simply remove the .SC4MODEL and .LOT files from your plugin folder. -
May I also suggest you stick with just one color variation at this moment and make it really good? If you do that, I'm sure other variants are much easier to make and consume less time while looking better, but I think, by the time, you're already wanting to start the next project

I drew a spline, copied it, divided the segments with the divide tool, chamfered the vertexes, deleted the newly created segments and applied the sweep modifier. I use the copied spline to create a black wall in between the tiles. I normally just use a texture for this, but because of all the different sizes and orientations of the tiles, I'd have to make numerous textures which would cost me more time than using this method. Also I already used this method on the Four Seasons Place building back in 2007. (the building on the previous page). I wanted to keep them the same. -
whoo, I already like the dirtiness of it
-
shouldn't you be preparing for the match? Germany against Portugal? We already lost so I'm now cheering for Germany . Anyway, I'm looking forward to see some materials on this. No further comments at this point as this is still in a very early stage
-
oke, check your backup folder, maybe there's still a copy there. Otherwise it doesn't seem to be a whole lot of work to rework your Incolor Inc back into Casper Inc

Thanks for the comments everyone . @ Harishna: No the glass isn't final yet. The method I usually use doesn't seem to work very well on this particular project so I'm still playing around with it. I like the pools myself though so I consider them to be final . @ TekindusT: Thanks, It made me laugh. I'm glad you like it and it also encourages me to actually continue and finish this thing . I have discovered a problem though. Somehow, I messed up the scale quite badly. Guess I didn't know what I was doing back in 2007 when I started it .To solve it I started on another part of the same project, this time in the right scale. When I'm done with that, I can scale the rest to the right size. Therefor I present to you the first update of the Four Seasons hotel. It's the most annoying building to recreate I've ever done though. All the elements are curved and rotated in a different angle so It's really hard to get all the dimensions right. I'm pulling myself through though . -
I feel that the facades could use a bit more detail, maybe add blinds behind the windows or give them a different texture to make it more alive. The building looks kinda empty at this point. Also the windows don't appear to have a frame. Last point I have is the color, It looks a bit over-saturated, maybe you could tone it down a bit . Overly your doing a good job, hope my feedback helps
-
looks nice . I'm eager to see how it looks in a high quality render with textures . Only thing what I see is missing is a way to get to the roof. There should be a hatch or a stairs somewhere.

just to let you know, all my projects are still ongoing. I'm busy graduation research which also involves a lot of 3d modelling work so I'm actually BATing more than ever , I'll post some renders when I have something significant to show . In the meanwhile you can enjoy this: There's something about it that I don't like though and I'm having a hard time fixing it. In my opinion it looks too plastic, especially the roof. But any texture I put on there just makes it look worse -
Why does cartoonish equal bad?
paulvmontfort replied to Flat Raver's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
That's what I was thinking as well -
Maybe more creativity as well? Anyway, if those wines are as elaborate and awesome as the BATs, they ought to be good. Hey what do you mean by that?
-
hmm, maybe I should try wine as well, maybe then I could bring up some more patience

3ds Max - Troubleshooting & General Discussion
paulvmontfort replied to Jasoncw's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
3ds max, encountered an exception while saving and shut down while it didn't save the whole scene yet. You can only get your building back through the autobackups I'm afraid. To answer your previous question I need to know what kind of file it is, but most likely there was an installation procedure described on the site where you downloaded it probably it's the scripts/startup folder in your max installation directory -
have you been fiddling with the light setup yourself? (adding lights and stuff) Normally you don't have to worry about these things as gmax creates all the necessary stuff itself whenever you press the preview button.
-
Well, it looks as if there's still something wrong with the lighting setup. I'm not sure what though . Otherwise it looks very promising
-
is it possible for you to post a final daytime preview zoomed to 1:1 as well? I don't mind if I can't see the whole building but I'd like to see how it looks up close. Then I can give some positive critics and suggestions

Zahrul3 Indonesian BATs(skip to back)
paulvmontfort replied to zahrul3's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
nifty little tool isn't it, that sweep modifier . ever since I first discovered it, I've been using it for almost everything. I personally don't like this kind of housing, I prefer more modest European styles but I must say you're doing a great job on these;). I'll keep bumping in from time to time to watch the modelling work -
PaulvMontfort's BATs from Eindhoven
paulvmontfort replied to paulvmontfort's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Alright, I'll BAT the whole base and see what I can do afterwards. But first to reply on some comments: skyscraper241: Please take the time to read the text from my post as well, It would have saved you your critics On a side note, The current roof texture is a picture of the actual roof taken from google earth and thus it is completely realistic . Jasoncw: It's nice to know that a comparatively small and unknown (read architecturally) city is being appreciated globally. Eindhoven has become my home away from home after studying there for 5 years. Eindhoven's policy is to be technically innovative, this earned them the title of the world's smartest region. They also want to express this in the city's architecture hence the numerous interesting buildings. I'll post a compilation later on I will also take your suggestion into consideration . Amthaak: If you look closely you can see I already left openings for those windows in between the blue (untextured) columns -
PaulvMontfort's BATs from Eindhoven
paulvmontfort replied to paulvmontfort's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
thanks for the nice comments everyone . I started with the base yesterday and I have a question. Take a look at this image: If I bat the whole base (which includes the lower part on the left with the ponds on it), the lot would become 8 tiles wide and 7 tiles deep which could make the building unsuitable for dense city centres. What would you want to see? Here's the progress so far, don't mind the roof texture, it is just temporary for aligning the roofjunk -

Don't worry about the lots, they're in good hands . In the meanwhile, I begun on another building from Eindhoven:
