Hey, this model is going pretty well, I really miss the old buildings from SC3K. About your textures, I think you should use a Red Brick texture or a detailed cherry paint texture, and don't forget to follow gascooker's tutarial to fake ray tracing. BTW: could you please convert your future BMP and PNG images in to JPG, My connection took a really long time to display your pics.

Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support

Date: 8/24/2005 6:31:12 PM Author: barnatom debussyman: This texture looks just like a normal european highway/freeway/motorway. 2 lanes are quite common over here, especially in rural settings. I don't know how they look in Mexico, but I think the choosen texture is perfect. And the purpose of this whole project is to provide us with another, more rural highway. We allready have a 3 lane, concrete one in the game. Don't you agree? What exactly would be the difference between the one you suggested and the in-game one? Well actually, they do look like the wuropeans one Esto no es una ofensa, solo quer- 3,919 Replies

Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support
debussyman replied to qurlix's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
I don't wanna sound rude, don't get me wrong, I appreciate this work very much but I must say I prefer the original highway 3 lane-no safe lane texture, looks more realistic; the fact that this has only two lanes makes it look like an avenue with a concrete sidewalk, in fact that texture doesn't look right to me This is only my opinion, I really like this project but I'm just beeing honest, it's not like I can make better textures, I just think they can be improved in these ways: smaller road lines, 3 lanes and/or a better texture for the safe lane, the current one doesn't match the road and looks like a sidewalk. This was intended as constructive critizisim, not a complain.- 3,919 Replies

Very nice updates you got going on , I love that industrial area, and the variety of the atmosphere is very pleasing, keep up the good work.

gurrgkud: thank you for the nice comments, I'm glad you like my Cj. Simjurgen:thanks, nice to see some people de mi tierra, and you are right, the porfiriatum era is very much like the victorian for the Brit. Jerebannus XVI: I'm happy it's inspiring you, the atmosphere I wanted to recreate, well, I think I'm starting to get it. barnatom: wow, a mexican town with your skills would be great, and thaks for visiting. Well don't expect too much very soon, I'm still working on the BATs for the city, the current count: 37 lots, I'm still working on a house style and got many landmarks to go.

Date: 8/2/2005 7:15:31 AM Author: Shadow_Assassin Check the scale of your object. That seems very huge. The scale should be 16.0 to see the lot tiles, but 1.0 to see details. Zoom 5 shows in 16.0.quote> This is the closest zoom, those squares are 1x1. 6underground: try merging it into a new file, if this doesn't worke, merge them object by object.

Tired of creating above sealevel ponds tile by tile?

Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support
debussyman replied to qurlix's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Well, I see this is a very early stage but I have 1 querstion, is it possible to make the RHW intersections perpenticular? like if it was an avenue, no ramps or special lanes, just a road connecting the highway.- 3,919 Replies

Very interesting, And useful, Usually a plain rectangle extruded uses 12 polys, applying normal makes it 2, but don't you get light leaks using this method?

Date: 8/15/2005 10:12:25 PM Author: ILL Tonkso Oh something for the BATters. Eat THAT!quote> Great station, but what do you do to keep your polygon count so low?! I have a 1 story 1x1 (16x7) house with three four times your polygons (21394), That's careful work!

Really nice attention to the detail there, but if you are going to use a copy of the same section ten times I'd suggest putting a nice gate that shows up to create a difference.
-
Still doing great. And the story line is getting interesting too.
-
As far as I know those lines shouldn't appear, I don't have them and I haven't seen them in any CJ. But perhaps the Mac game appears that way. See: the farms, the lots and the sidewalks don't have any lines. *this pictures have been borrowed from a CJ. Hope sirgeoj2 doesn't mind but this were the best examples I found.

Date: 8/19/2005 8:51:35 PM Author: barnatom By the way, the grid is turned off. In the lower left of the first picture you see an open field of grass. There are no grid lines. These lines appear on the farms only.quote> That's a strange bug, I can also see the lines in the sidewalks and in every lot, I don't think it's only the farms: See the Hall and the sidewalk?

Very nice, great use of gas cooker's BATs, this really has the feel of a small village but, where's the church?

interesting story, I also like the fact that it has low quality graphics, some cj's out there take hours to show up. -
A small touch from the old skool:

you can make a plugin to a windows media file by writing this (with < at the beggining of all and <> with /embed between): embed src=your file direction type=application/x-mplayer2 /embed

Been a long time since I saw your CJ for last time ( been away for a while). I must say it is getting really impressive, with all tose contrasts it looks very cosmopolitan, and your image editing habilities are awesome.

^^7/10 I really laughed with your phrase, but I think the image is a little plain, nice though.^^ V *This is my first signature, never took the time to make one before, hope you like it. V
