  1. Over the past several decades, highways have been destroyed somehow. I would like to know what heppened to the surrounding area of the destroyed highways, when the surrounding area was an urban area with people and towns and such. Does the town or urban area begin to thrive? What happens to traffic? What is the name of that one place in San Fransisco where the highway was destroyed by a natural disaster, then te rest was destroyed instead of rebuilt? If I sound sporadic. I'm sorry, I have quite a bad flu.
  2. I have downloaded things like Goober Elementary school and want to change its name to something like Rusty Venture Elementary School. But when I save, quit, then reopen my city, the school reverts back to Goober Elementary. This problem happens with most other user-created ploppables. Or, if I have two Goober Elementary schools, and change the name of one, the other changes too. How do I keep names of custom ploppables permanent, and how do I make ploppables' names independent of one another?
  3. I was able to open one LOT file, but after that it "failed to open" any file. ...No wait, I had SimCIty4 open, that's why it didn't work...
  4. what's with the ordinance mod that changes 'carpool' ordinance into a 'parking fine' ordinance? It goes from a red ordinance to a green one, but brings me a negative income; literally a negative number!
  5. I have a bunch of diagonal roads, and would like to put diagonal GLR along, or on, them. But I can't find any diagonal GLR stations. Alternatively, I can use diagonal on-road el-rail pieces and on-road diagonal on-road el-rail stations
  6. Yes, but I can not find any on-road diagonal stations
  7. Show us your city, road or transit maps!

may be personal taste, but I've noticed the RGB-colored transit maps look like something out of a 1999 website, while CMYK look smoother and the colors are not as loud. The 1st is RGB, and the 2nd is CMYK CMYK has a lot less pixelation on the edges of the lines, and look smoother
  8. I have one land with developed RCI, and another island with nothing. Then, I zone for only commercial on the undeveloped island, and it develops (mostly growable mods from simtropolis and other sites), but no one is using the ferries i built for sims to move from one island to the other. Why is that?
  9. Show us your city, road or transit maps!

suggestion for transit maps: Use CMYK instead of RGB color
  10. My ferries don't work

Nah, i zoned on the empty land with no connection at all to the developed island, and the commercial lots still grew ( I only zoned commercial lots on the empty island). The stations themselves are fine and linked up to the road.

Where the city hall stop is would have to be adjacent to the Government Center Metrorail station, which Is like our transit hub.quote> Ah, I meant to say Gov't Center. DOesn't matter now though, as the SFECC study has some cool plans theyre putting up next week that are waaaaay better
  12. Are you ready to dump SC4, and move on to CXL?

But hey, if CXL can be modded as much as Simcity4, maybe someone can make a Network Addon Mod that includes such radical innovations such as subways and railroads!
  13. Demo version released ~ For all those that can't wait

It works beautifully and it's perfectly tuned (the chevy), the advantage you have now is... you can have both! it's not like a new game costs you the same as a new ferrari. Even for one small simple example, citiesxl has an ingame chat window. It's not MMO in the sense that you build one city together, but there's plenty of other people around you can trade with, and talk about strategies and tips while you're playing. That said, I have experienced a couple of issues in the demo. I hope Monte Cristo has picked these up and will smoothen out some of these rough edges, but I think the car metaphor still goes: for the first 1000 miles or so, your new car won't perform at the best of it's capacities yet either.quote> Your metaphor doesn't apply here. Or maybe it kind of does, since cars are the only way to get around in CitiesXL And I can chat about city building on SIMTROPOLIS

If you buy the game for US$40 you still will not have access to subways, railroads, trams, trolleys, et cetera I would think this would send up red flags for an MTA fan
  15. Show us your city, road or transit maps!

to make a metroline (or whatever yours is), just use the photoshop pen tool, then stroke the line. now just search google for a good pen tutorial
  16. Single Player

you mean i get to pay $10 a month for features included in a game i already own AND i don't even need to add sweet custom mods? where do i sign up?!
  17. ooh someone post some pics of the railways and subways and their stations and-- oh what? they're not in this game nvm ):
  18. Miami Dade

In real life, it is apparently impossible to build a subway anywhere in South Florida because water isn't too far underground. Same reason a lot of South Florida homes don't have basements.

  22. Public Transportation

That sounds pretty damn awesome, and the quintissential thing missing from all the simcities.
