Where do I find the NAM thread?
Christo26 replied to Christo26's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
Uh, more reason to wait. Thanks. -
title says it all. Sorry for taking up bandwidth but I looked around for it but not that hard because the site is slow to load right now. Cheers.

Thanks for the info on NAM. I still want to read up on it. I don't even know the useful things you can do with the system. Cheers!

Alright, I changed the graphic settings for everything to high and the defalt park playground included with the game is still showing up as grass. I noticed that some of the residential areas are still showing grass as well, but when I click on them it says it's occupied (i.e. houses!). Any ideas? Thanks again! edit: Found out what was wrong. After I changed the settings a message came up that I didn't read (duh). You have to exit the game and restart

Thanks!

Thanks for the info! I have RH and updated it via the maxis site on Monday. Can I check to see what version I have to be sure? Also, as it happens I have the BAT game update (don't know where I got it) so I'll go ahead and install that baby and see what happens.

How do I make the game faster
Christo26 replied to chrisnhl50's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Another suggestion is to turn off EVERYTHING that is running in the back ground, such as your anti-virus etc. You press alt+cntl+delete and select processes and see what's taking up a lot of memory. If you've used it before then you should have any trouble, but if you haven't you'll probably have to do a google search to see what each program is and what it does. Some programs are critical and you can't shut them down or your computer will crash (or restart). You might have to play with them all and see what happens by trial and error which is what I had to do. iexplore is one that will cause your computer to restart just to name one. It might take several restarts to get it right. I suggest you write down the ones that work and go from there. You can also see how much cpu usage you have and memory available. 512k is on the low side (I have 2g on mine). I had 1g before and the game would start to run slow after my city started to get large. Tweaking the options in SC4 can help it run faster as stated above. Hope this helps ya out! Cheers! -
I wish you all the luck mate. I've been trying to find some of the old buildings I was using in my last intall. The new search tool is a pain for my taste but I can't complain as this is a fan run site after all!

I'm looking for a good roundabout for my new city. Can anyone suggest a non NAM lot? Only one I like needs NAM and I'm not ready to intall it yet (need to read up on it I think). Cheers!

I remember somewhere you can manually download the update from Maxis. My last install gave me errors during update for some reason I didn't know about.

Wait, if I'm reading this right, I need to have the BAT program (which runs seperate from SC4) for my building lights to work? That means I need to have Gmax as well? Thanks.
-
Gee, I didn't think of that! Just started the city so I'll fix that. Cheers!

I don't know where to post this so I'll give it a shot here. I just reloaded SC4RH and I noticed that some lots such as the playground that is included with the game is showing up as just grass when I zoom all the way in. I click on the lot that I placed and it's showing that it's a playground? I am scratching my head as to what it might be because this is a park that is included in the install. Maybe someone here can point me to the right area or what might be causing the problem. I am using a few mods and add on buildings from STEX. Thanks for any help!
