Fly in for a visit to the City of Battle Creek city journal! Thank you for looking, and i hope you enjoy
  12. City Of Battle Creek

Welcome, to my new city journal ! My journal is not a recreation of Battle Creek, MI though it in alot of ways is based on the city and people of the real city! I do use alot of Bat buildings and i do mess with the lot editor on some just to get the right feeling for where ever that peice will be used ! I can not give everyone credit due to the fact that i forgot some of the peoples names that made the bats and for that im sorry, but if you see something you made say it so everybody know's it was you! And as i go though the city journal and point out certain buildings etc. i will do my best to give credit to the creator ! And now the City of Battle Creek ! In 1825, a surveying team was sent out to survey a new territory of land, while the rest of the survey team was out, the left two surveyors to watch the camp. Two Native Americans came into camp and requested food, which was custommary! After the had eaten, the requested information on the survey part. The Native Americans became agitated and told the men to leave! When the two surveyors refused to leave the Native Americans attempted to force them. A fight ensued !!! when the rest of the survey team returned, they questioned the natives and held the over night, so that they could not report back to their tribe. The next morning the released them and broke camp to head back east. When it came time to assign a name to the river they were camping near, they thought it would be humorous to call it "Battle Creek" In 1840 the first building was built. The church was built where now downtown stands as you will see in later posts. It was for many years the city center. church pack : simgoober 1858, Battle Creek becoming a nice plalce to live The Town of Battle Creek pop. 300 More to come .....
  13. City Of Battle Creek

UPDATE 3 ---- PART 2 In 1924, the City of Battle Creek, bought Garret Wells farm, to build an airport Mr. Wells Farm sat at the intersection of Van Buren and 20th st. and along the south of his land ran the Climax and Battle Creek Rivers. The city picked this area because it was on the edge of town, and because it was on a main drag to Downtown. Most of the land was forest, so alot had to be cleared, but to give it a different look they left alot of the forest around the outside of the airport! A birds eye view of Battle Creek City Airport, The airport was built to help bring business into the city! This picture shows the short - long term parking 20th st. Runs along the yellow line of Liberty Park Van Buren runs along the parking area! The Airport Terminal has 3 gates and the Airport gets about 8 flights a day! Its a beautiful sight at night ! Closer view of the terminal Two companies fly out of Battle Creek United flys only out of gate 1 and Northwest Airlink flys out of gate 2 and 3 Northside of the the airport the runway lights go over Van Buren The south end of the Airport the runway lights go across the Climax river They had to put 2 extra lights at the end of the runway because planes were coming in short. With the building of the airport the city was again growing the city started to look south for room to expand they also needed away other than trains to get products out faster thus came Interstate 10 which runs north / south through Battle Creek This Picture shows the James E. Petersen Bridge on the Left and Interstate 10 on the right James E. Petersen was my uncle who lived in Battle Creek, MI til he was murdered in March 19, 2004. The Bridge and this City Journal Are in Memory of him!!! And just to enjoy a few pictures from around town Welcome to Washington Heights ( The Ghetto ) Though hard to tell most of these homes are vacant! The Main strip club Bomb Shells Post Foods at night Post Neighborhood A couple views of Downtown at night Looking south Looking North 20th st. Bridge The Battle Creek River sits just below And I want to show you something that is close to my heart Im a very big supporter of the Fire Department Battle Creek, MI does have some of the best looking older houses that i have ever seen, they have 6 stations. I so far have 4 stations and will pass 6 very soon! This is just to show you them and what trucks and engines my city use! Station 1 Downtown Truck 1 - Engine 2 - Cheif 1 Station 2 Post Neighborhood Engine 3 Station 3 20th st. across from airport Engine 4 This is my favorite House! Station 3 takes care of the western half of Liberty Park and Washington Heights This is what the neighborhood looks like around station 3 This area is about 4 streets away Station 4 E. Van Buren St. Engine 5 And just one more... This is the retirement home that just went up this is on the northeast side which is still mostly farm land! Well thats all for now I hope you enjoy looking as much as i did building I will let you know when the next update will be probally thursday or friday! Thank you!
  14. City Of Battle Creek

In 1900, St. Philips church opened with the addition of the high school in 1902 St. Phil's sits northwest of the city, on the outskirts of Washington Heights. And if you take a walk just south of St. Phil's you come to Washington Park! In 1919, The City of Battle Creek expanded Main St. Main St. was made from a 2 lane to a 4 lane lowering traffic congestion! ( This is Downtown Battle Creek in 1919! ) If you look to your right, just north of Main St. you can see Braves Park ! ( True History ) A Baseball team didn't come to B.C. intil 1990 The stadium know as C.O. Brown Stadium was built in John Bailey Park along with 10 other diamonds for softball etc. to play on The first time to play there, the Battle Creek Yankees, left and the new team became the Bear cats. As of this year they have changed there name to the Battle Creek Bombers ! Thats Right Baseball has come to Battle Creek ! A new team that will be playing AAA in the slb in the fall! The Battle Creek Braves Welcome to Braves Park ! Though it maybe small now this may transform the river front in a couple years Keep watching to see and root for us in the 07-08 season! Pop. 8457 In 1920, A building boom happened in Downtown Battle Creek Skyscrapers built to the sky or at least that what it looked like at first went up at the intersection of Van Buren and Main st. And with the Building boom came B.C.C.C. Battle Creek Community College Day / Night And for the final 2 pictures a sky view of Battle Creek and the neighborhoods 1923 Pop. 10556 Hope you enjoyed Another reply will be coming today soon!!

  21. City Of Battle Creek

Update 2 in 1860 the city had expanded North and West The northern neighborhood, know as Washington Heights, is know to be one of the worst neighborhoods in Battle Creek, and without my help, the game has made it the same, as you will see in later posts! The westside is know as Liberty Park! (only in the game!) Liberty Park runs along Van Buren St. W to 20th st. (you will be able to see 20th st. in later posts) Pop. 2136 school - simgoober Showing the Neighborhoods! Red = Washington Heights Yellow = Liberty Park In 1899, a man named C.W. Post came to Battle Creek and started a company named Post Foods. (Real Life) Postum Cereal came before Kelloggs Kellogg hated post Post built many things in the city of Battle Creek including 2 fire houses Station 3 and the original station 4 on Kendall st. He also built Post Taven which was a hotel and Post theatre. C.W. Post committed suicide May 9, 1914 in his home in Santa Barbara, California! Back to the game now: He bought a large peice of land just southeast of Downtown across the Battle Creek river. There he built Post Foods and what is called the Post Addition. (Post addition - the real neighborhood built around post cereal company to house his many workers) Pop. 3571 And a closer pic of Post Foods. The city also built into the Post Neighborhood the first cemetery. This is Oakhill Cemetery! Now Post also brought one more new thing to the city! He brought the railroad! Before Post Foods the railroad saw no reason ro connect to Battle Creek But with Post Foods now needing a faster way to ship goods and the amount of people needing to go to Battle Creek, well money talks!! (This train is running south through Post Addition!) And for the finnal two pictures we have a overview showing the city from the air, and one showing the neighborhoods! (Look at Washington Heights, its already starting to get bad in this photo!) Showing the Neighborhoods! Washington Heights = Red Liberty Park = Yellow Post Addition = Blue Downtown = White Well I hope you enjoy today's post Thank you for visiting Battle Creek! Please come again soon!!!
  22. Cobalt Springs

love the downtown and i also want to know where the baseball stadium came from???
  23. City Of Battle Creek

Jacqulina, Thank you for your comment ! Granto93, Im glad you like it next post will show the begining of the north side and the west side The northside being called Washington Heights Neighborhood Jasoncw, Well like i said in the intro its not Battle Creek, MI though I have used that as the idea for the city that i am building. The reason i did not want to recreate Battle Creek, MI is simple I grew up there I hate kellogg's all they have done is screwed the city over and pulled out leaving 100's of people with out jobs and they still are shuting down more all the time and to recreate battle creek you have to put them in there also most people do not know that post came first and hes the only one out of the 2 that actually build anything for the city! And 3 battle creek is already built and though it would be a fun city to do i wanted something of my own but still keeping certain features of my town Thanks for looking and your comment! crazyarchitect, thank you also more to come!
  24. Being from Detroit, First you have to get a new mayor. Anybody would be better than kwame and the giant diamond in his ear. We have the first i do nothing but steal from the tax payers cause im the hip hop i think im a ganster mayor!!!! That being said we need to have some sorta metro system installed that would go from the downtown area to the subs. I would also put a stop to new development we have some of the most beautiful buildings that are just left vacant. Why build new use what you have. I would also get my city police and fire back to a reasonable level or at least to where you can tell the cops are cops and not thugs. In my hole city the fire fighters are the only people that do their job, but thats when they can because have the ladder trucks do not work and the engines don't pump look it up there has been many fires where the DFD pulled up with a broken truck. Right now Detroit is so worried about downtown there forgetting about the neighborhoods. If you build up your neighrborhoods and make them nice where people will feel safe people will move back and (OMG) you will have a tax base to bring people downtown and then OOOOOOOO you can build a beautiful city. O and any mayor should know you don't just care about one race in the city. I love living in the murder capital!!!!! These are just things that should be changed to bring Detroit back to glory!!!!
  25. American Fire Vehicles
