  1. The Politics of Canada

The idea here is to have a thread to discuss canadian politics in general, there's no limit to what can be discussed so long as it stays on-topic. Here's a few ideas to start off. --Coalition governments- last time one of these showed up, there was a huge uproar. Are they reasonable, and if so in what situations? --Proroguation- should the PM have the power to prorogue, and should it be an option at all? --Foreign Policy. There's been a lot of talk recently about Canada's foreign policy, especially with regards to Israel. Any thoughts on that? --And of course, there's always debating the merits of the various political parties. Are you a Conservative, a Liberal, an NDP'er, a Green, and if so why?
  2. RHW Regional Transport Map

I can finally demolish all the old maxis highways! yippee! thanks so much.
  3. Hello All, I've been having issues with Real Highway 4.1. I just recently downloaded this, the cleanitol was good and I installed it. Ther eare a few issues I've run into. First of all, there are no neigbour connectors under the neigbour connectors sub-menu, only the start peices. Nor do I have any of the esthetic peices. I have tried re-installing, which didn't help. I run deluxe on widows 7. Any ideas?
  4. Missing RHW 4.1 Peices

replacing my NAM with the new one, and then re-installing RHW has fixed the problem. Thanks! -Nick
  5. Is SC5 ever coming out? no. so how about having another shot at the Simtropolis 1000 project?
  6. PEG SKI RESORT

Absolutely brilliant! My only concern is that PEG is getting so good at this it will be impossible to satisfy people's appetite for more!
  7. NESCO Government Center Transit Enabled

It looks good- could we have a better picture and maybe some stats?
  8. DuQuesne Heavy Shipyards

what a fantastic way to bow out!
  9. Airport signs

where exactly could you find the tutorial?
  10. Airport signs

Fantastic. Great finishing touch for the airport.
  11. Mexico and United States

Brazil is the other great emerging country of our time. It has a growth rate even higher than that of Mexico, and is in a situation comprable to where China was 20 years ago, and India 10 years ago. Those three countries (the BICs, for short) are going to drive almost all the growth in the world economy for the forseeable future. Within 30 years, large parts of Brazil will be on par with the US or near to it, and it will, politically and militarily dominate South America. Mexico could already be in a dominant position, but it tends to be overshadowed by it's neighbor the US, so it's potential influence can't show.

There are many gender-neutral possibilities that don't belong in the 19th century. quote> I thought the King James Bible was earlier than that. quote> Yeah, 16th century.
  13. The North American Power Grid

I think solar panels have become pretty much standard on sattelites now. No, I can't think of any big new breakthroughs since then. Who knows when the next one will come around, but for now we can keep ourselves pre-occupied with improving what exists already. Yeah, they'll probably sell out AECL, especially with the government so strapped for cash. Hopefully it'll run better under private management.
  14. The North American Power Grid

Hopefully not the same AECL guys that would be developing our nuclear power plants? No wonder the public is scared to death of nuclear power, with that sort of thing happening. I like the idea of mini nuke plants. Besidses clean and nearly un-limited energy, it would make the grid more reliable by dispersing the energy sources, and reliability has obviously has been a problem lately. We're still left with nuclear waste though, wich is the other source of opposition to that kind of power.

It's similar to a city that grows really fast without very many new roads, leading to traffic jams. quote> Yeah, they probably will. Wind power is not a great option, but everybody's afraid of nuclear power, and solar power isn't that great either, so if we want to get off fossil fuels, we aren't left with much choice. We're lucky here in Manitoba with loads of hydro power, so we've got some of the greenest and cheapest energy in the world. That just isn't an option for most places though. It's time for people to overcome their fear of nuclear power and adopt this clean and plentiful source of energy.

How much could it really cost to re-word that song? I don't think it would be much, but point taken though, and I agree. I would point out though, for arguement's sake, that 'thou dost in us comand', the so-called ''politically correct'' version, is actually the original. If we're goint to focus on gender equality, there are much better things to worry about than the wording of the national anthem.
  18. Yeah, well the cars are usually screwy, that's just SC4 for you.
  19. The Politics of Canada

Ahh yes, the good old throne speech. What an oddity. Since there's probably not going to be anything new in the budjet, the government will just keep going. Of course, those conservatives could always shock us with something. I wouldn't put it past them.

Raysfan16: Miracle? not at all. It was disapointing for us canadians, but hopefully Team Canada has learnt from that, as they should, and it's likely the two will come up against each other in the finals. That will be the real test of both teams. ROFLyoshi: Yeah, it looked pretty fake. They were probably pretty uncomfortable in that dance. I thought Virtue and Moir were by far the best in that competition.
  21. SC4 Terraformer Question

Well, it could be right. If all you're trying to do is install a map, maybe you're better off the old way.

This would completely decimate some countries, but could be the way to deal with cheating.quote> There'll be a lot less athletes competing if you adopt that sort of measures. Scratch the entire Russian team, for a start. I think it's too harsh to penalise an entire national team for that long because of the actions of one athlete. Just banning that athlete, and not the entire country, would be a much more reasonable and fair approach.

Ah yes, the australian. A whole controversy about him here in Canada. Personally, I have no problem with him leaving for Australia, the problem is that he shuns the Canadian media. By the way, the medal standings, as I type: United States- 8 Canada - 4 Germany - 4 France - 4 As I type. It looks like Canada's Jeremy Whitherspoon might be winning a gold within a few minuites.

Wich network were you watching on? CTV, the official brodcaster here in canada, quickly replayed everything that was missed during the commercial breaks, wich I might add, were few and far between. Meg: Yeah, it would have been better if Leonard Cohen sang it. After all, it is his song. kd did do fairly well though. And yes, it is time for a new olympic anthem. It's too bad about the gorgian athlete. For him to train all his life for the olympics, and then never compete, has got to be just heartbraking for his family. I was glad to see the moment of silence during the sceremonies.
  25. Heblem, I have the exact same computer. Works fine for me too. To all you others, where did you install the game? Windows 7 is confusing in that it has two Program Files folders. One, called just "Program Files" is for 64-bit programs. The other, "Program Files(x86)" is for 32-bit programs. SC4 is a 32-bit program, so it won't work if you installed it in the "Program Files" directory.
