The region lies on the north side of the Great Slave Lake. The city is the capital of the Northwest Territories. This will be my last snow covered map for a while... Maybe forever. The map is 3x5 large tiles or 15 large tiles in total. Thanks for downloading, look out for more No Name Maps Team Maps. The project will map every Canadian province/territory exept for the ones already mapped. Merry Christmas and Have a Happy New Year! Mount Logan is Canada's highest mountain and the second-highest peak in North America, after Mount McKinley (Denali). The mountain was named after Sir William Edmond Logan, a Canadian geologist and founder of the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC). Mount Logan is located within Kluane National Park and Reserve in southwestern Yukon and is the source of the Hubbard and Logan Glaciers. Logan is believed to have the largest base circumference of any mountain on Earth, with the massif containing eleven peaks over 5,000 metres (16,400 ft). Due to active tectonic uplifting, Mount Logan is actually still rising in elevation. Before 1992, the exact height of Mount Logan was unknown and measurements ranged from 5,959 metres (19,551 ft) to 6,050 metres (19,849 ft). In May 1992, a GSC expedition climbed Mount Logan and fixed the current height of 5,959 metres (19,551 ft) using GPS. Temperatures are extremely cold on and near Mount Logan. On the high 5,000 m plateau, air temperature hovers around −45 °C (−49 °F) in the winter and reaches near freezing in summer with the average median temperature for the year around −27 °C (−17 °F). Banff is located 126km (78mi) west of Calgary and 58km (36mi) east of Lake Louise, on the Trans-Canada Highway. The Town is a member of the Calgary Regional Partnership. Banff is a resort town and one of Canada's most popular tourist destinations, known for its mountainous surroundings and hot springs. This map is of Iqaluit, Nunavut area. The region lies on Baffin Island. The city of Iqaluit is Nunavut's capital, Nunavut itself was formed in 1999 when North-West Territories split.
