No Name Maps Team | Canadian Capital Maps Series/Project This project forms only me, since I am one of the two DEM mappers in the NNMT and the other one doesn't do maps of Canada. This map is of Iqaluit, Nunavut area. The region lies on Baffin Island. The city of Iqaluit is Nunavut's capital, Nunavut itself was formed in 1999 when North-West Territories split. The map is 4x2 large tiles or 8 large tiles in total. Thanks for downloading, look out for more No Name Maps Team Maps. The region lies on the north side of the Great Slave Lake. The city is the capital of the Northwest Territories. This will be my last snow covered map for a while... Maybe forever. Merry Christmas and Have a Happy New Year! Mount Logan is Canada's highest mountain and the second-highest peak in North America, after Mount McKinley (Denali). The mountain was named after Sir William Edmond Logan, a Canadian geologist and founder of the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC). Mount Logan is located within Kluane National Park and Reserve in southwestern Yukon and is the source of the Hubbard and Logan Glaciers. Logan is believed to have the largest base circumference of any mountain on Earth, with the massif containing eleven peaks over 5,000 metres (16,400 ft). Due to active tectonic uplifting, Mount Logan is actually still rising in elevation. Before 1992, the exact height of Mount Logan was unknown and measurements ranged from 5,959 metres (19,551 ft) to 6,050 metres (19,849 ft). In May 1992, a GSC expedition climbed Mount Logan and fixed the current height of 5,959 metres (19,551 ft) using GPS. Temperatures are extremely cold on and near Mount Logan. On the high 5,000 m plateau, air temperature hovers around −45 °C (−49 °F) in the winter and reaches near freezing in summer with the average median temperature for the year around −27 °C (−17 °F). First I'd like to thanks papab2000, alot for helping me with the DEM data. This map is of my hometown, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. This map is my first DEM created map, I made a while ago. It is almost to scale, it is squashed about half a kilometer, due to the fact the game's smallest tile is 1km. The city was founded in 1770 by people from France, who later abandoned it. Then it was re-founded in 1840 as two smaller cities, Port Arthur and Fort William. In 1969, the two cities merged together to creat what is now know as Thunder Bay. There is one visible mountain chain in the corner, it is called Mount Mckay, it is a extinct volcano. The city today is around 109,000 people living within the city limits, 122,000 living in the metropolitan area and 103,000 living in the urban area. I could go on for hours, but I would rather not.
