  1. Post Modding Requests Here

I don't know if anyone has ever asked for this, but you know how in the D.C. metro, or I guess in any subway system there are differen lines for subways going to different places, like a red line, or the yellow line. People in D.C. would know what I am talking about. Is it possible to create lines with some sort of accent, and lines of different accents can't cross each other except at special stations. That way a player could create a more complex subway system. Thanks.
  2. Empire State Building comes over all Communist...

Do you honestly think that lighting the Empire State building red would convince the Chinese government to lend the United States more money? I find it absurd that a government could be swayed into such an action by the mere flick of switch (yeah, there is probably more to it, I know). Oh wait...it might be a way...I see. But I would have to disagree with you on how un-American this is. While China may not be the model country for human rights, and that commemorating the birth of such a regime may seem to some as condoning its actions, what is American about this whole controversy is that the Empire State building could do such a thing. And in addition to this, people could get on to a site like Simtropolis and protest, and no one could lock them in a prison cell or harm in any way for doing so. That is, in my eyes, American. We don't have to agree with China, we don't even have to like China, but we cannot deny that one of the fundemental rights we try to uphold is the freedom of expression is truly being proven from this discourse. I really have to learn how to italicize...
  3. The Burning Question Thread

Just imagine how powerful a person's computer would have to be...simultaneously running thousands, perhaps even millions of sims...maybe even having buildings change over the sims life. But it would be really cool if you could live in a skyscraper. One could ave a really urban life.
  4. Check Out This Overpass Connection

Wow, that looks really cool...just like as if someone stepped on a really big daddy-long-legs. But still pretty cool, regardless.
  5. Biggest Failure of CXL?

I really can't comment because I couldn't even get my demo to work-though I suppose that that is in itself a reason to complain. I've got Windows XP, and forgive me for my ignorance, a graphics card that was good enough to play Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. Come on. But I am also kind of looking out for a bit more detail in the economy. Maybe a little bit more action from the actual behavior in the market place that we see in the real world. Also, perhaps a little bit more of an interactive bureaucracy would be nice. I mean like bonds, tariffs, perhaps a bit more of a complex taxing system. A big thing that I hope they also have is a bit more of a complex diversity model. One of the things I didn't like about Sim City 4 was that even though the lots would differ in terms of props, they would have the same building and would make no difference. I haven't heard anything about any sort of "every lot is different" claim. If anyone could answer me, that would be totally awesome.
  6. Would you be willing to give a Monte Cristo another shot?

I've got a feeling we have been going in circles... By the way whiteshade, I don't really understand what you mean by "community". Do you mean the simtropolis community?
  7. Would you be willing to give a Monte Cristo another shot?

What I don't understand is why doesn't Monte Cristo get the guys gain who helped out on Sim City 4. They wouldn't need Will Wright, but just some guys who worked with him, and could guide the product to a tune that the fanbase is used to, and perhaps with some of Monte Cristo's own ideas create a unique game that many people would consider worth buying. Why? Is there something that prohibits, or some other reason?
  8. Would you be willing to give a Monte Cristo another shot?

I don't think, like hanskamp, that it is wise to automatically write off Cities XL as a failure. Perhaps Monte Cristo really might look at the SC4 fanbase, and discern that they may not be going on the most successful path. That may be considered wishful thinking according to some, but it is just to early to really say Cities XL is a goner. Would I give them another chance? I don't know, there are several important factors that go into that decision. One would obviously be how Cities XL turns out, but even more important, how Monte Cristo reacts to Cities XL. Do they begin to move back to the fanbase, or do they try to make a bold statement, and pursue their own path within the genre? If Monte Cristo does turn to the wishes of the Sim City 4 faithful, then I think I would follow the development. But if they decide to go it their own way, then I may just walk away and move on with my life. For now, I'll just wait.
