thanks for the info tahill79...and i did think about posting this on each of their sites but couldn't narrow down which one so i just posted here...i thought there would be enough people here that had tested this already...and y'all gave me perfect help...thanks a million everybody

i do it by hand with either the mayor mode and God mode terreform tools. the work here is so small and detailed i just find it easier for me this way. and as for the lack of useful tools, i also use the cheat for God mode...hold the shift + ctrl + alt keys together and click on God mode...hope this helps

alright, i've never backed anything up manually, where would i store the files...burn them to a disk...email the files to myself... and if i back up a region i downloaded would it save the cities i have in place or just the blank map... man it sucks not knowing what you're doing...haha but i'm learnin'

Yeah i guess you're right i can try it and see. I just didn't want my game to become fubarred. I'd hate to start from scratch again. plus i'm workin' on a cj and that just wouldn't be fun. thanks for y'alls help though...any more info or experiments with this subject would be much appreciated.

okay i have the CPT Meadowshire Terrain Mod and the CPT no.3 and 4 Terrain Textures. However, i want to use PEG's MTP lots and some of them require the MTP textures and terrain stuff. Would downloading and installing the MTP terrain and textures override my Meadowshire terrain with snowcaps or at the very least screw my game all up.

well what's playing sc4 without any plugins...haha

i use the sc4 terraformer when i start a region to get the overall layout, then when i get finished with that and want to landscape and build cities i use the in game tools to refine what i want my areas to look like

yeah, i too want to create these. i've got gmax, the bat and plug-in and know how to build structures. but i was thinking, which makes some worried. (you could have laughed at that) but really i wouldn't know where to begin to bat a human or even more so a animal that is the base of my cj which is soon to come.

there maybe a light at the end of the tunnel guys...i may be able to get ahold of a laptop that was hit by lightning. we're thinkin' it's only the power supply that was damaged...gonna get a new power supply and try it out. any thoughts on that or are there usually other things that get damaged when struck by mother nature.

this request is mainly for my cj, but others might like it as well...i would like to have the animals changed from rhinos and what not to only polar bear, grizzly bear, black bear, moose and elk... this is probably supposed to be in the bat thread, but along with this a bear statue that doesn't replace mayor statues. i would love ya forever if someone could make this

hmm...so if knowing a little can be dangerous. what is it when you know less than a little. i know i probably set myself up for something there, but bear with me guys i'm learnin'. so yeah, the idea of the external is mainly because we cannot download or install anything on the computers at work. well heck, i guess i'd have to install a hard drive on to it. but it won't be as noticable as a 3G game. like i said bear with me...so you said install it on at home and at work, and put them on the external. sorry i'm a lamer when it comes to computers. i guess i'll have to have more detailed tutorial...haha. it's okay if you don't want too, and tell me to go back to my corner and just play the game and deal with it...haha. i won't take offense. so i guess that's it for now. i'd like to get an external anyways for music, pics and other what-nots for home. just wanted to see if there was a way to work on one region whether at home or work from the external. thanks again

hey y'all, i've been around here lurking for quite a while now. i just wanted to say that i love this place. those who created this site and all the bat and modd ideas are my heros. This game is totally amazing. and y'all make it even better. well i'm not much of a poster, and i usually search for my answers and find them. Well i've done all the searching i can do for this topic, and if there is a similar question about this i apologize. i'm also thinkin' about starting a cj, and might need some help on how to post pics and other things pertaining to posting cj's. okay here's why i'm posting this, the wife has me on a tight leash with what i can buy. she won't let me buy a lap top so that when i'm at work i can do things i would do at our desktop at home. so my question is, if i were to go out and purchase, say a 500g external hard drive, would sc4 work like normal if i were to play it at home. then unplug it and play it on the desktop at work. i know it doesn't work with a flash drive. i tried that also. any info might finally put an end to my addiction when i'm not at home. they say the first step to recovery is to admit you have an addiction. i apologize for the ramble and thanks in advance. -- heath
