  1. Sim City-like renders

A couple of new buildings have been finished since the last update. What I'm really excited though, is to show you the renders I did in isometric, 2D-view. Much like how Sim City is rendered. And a bonus one:
  2. New buildings and animations

I tried exporting these 2-frame .gif animations, which conveys a bit of a sense of depth. Also, since my last update, a couple more buildings have been added.
  3. Sim City-like renders

^ Yeah. Mostly things have been taking time for me because it's not as engaging to build as in say, Sim City. I mostly end up spending about 2 hours on each building, so you're not doing a whole lot of change to the cityscape each time you sit down with it, which is why working on it is quite an on and off thing for me, even though I really do love having the city.
  4. Sim City-like renders

Thanks guys! I was actually surprised how good the city looked in Sim City-perspective. I'll try to do more of them in my updates :)
  5. So I just finished the first block! Sort of. I guess I'll dwell into some more details at some point, but that's basically it. Also, I've started working on the block next to it. - Well this is a parking lot. The previously "flying" buildings, which now have ground floors, are also visible: And an overview on my very scattered attempts at new buildings.
  6. New Jensenburg Being that this is the first entry, I thought I'd introduce the story and ideas behind this project. The city is something I've been building since the summer, although I will admit; I've been very on and off the project. The city is New York inspired in the sense of density and general feeling of the city, even though I'm sure my being European will shine through in some of the architecture. Also, I'm not trying to emulate New York with the style of street lights, bus stops, roads and whatnot. It's not really supposed to be an alternative reality New York. Furthermore, I'm not really into the whole storytelling thing, I just want to build a city I guess. As for technicalities, I'm building and rendering this in Cinema 4D. If you're unfamiliar with the software it's comparable to 3ds Max. Everything is modelled and textured from scratch by me, so bare in mind that things aren't really going to move along as quickly as they would in say, a SC4 project. I've had a thread for this over at skyscrapercity if you wish to check out some old updates: Skyscrapercity Thread A Half year into the project... As of now I'm on the verge of finishing the first block. I still have to do the ground floors, roof details and sidewalk props, but I'm nearing a bit of a milestone I guess. So yeah, you might notice that some of the buildings are hovering; do not fear however. And just because it was a nice shot; here's an old, outdated one:
  7. Introduction - A half year into the project...

Thanks for the kind words. :)   It's a shame it is somewhat "unique" though. With all the talented BAT:ers around here, there's clearly a lot of people who are comfortable in 3D software. I'm surprised not more people try building some sort of cityscape.
  8. My first attempt at a CXL screen. Without being smug about it, I think it turned out very nice!
  9. Update 11 : Rondinara beach

Amazing! This is probably the best update I've ever seen. No detail is overlooked!
  10. We're in Business

I'm sorry, I've no idea what that means because I'm actually Swedish.  I just wanted to create a small holiday island, and I though the Philippines would be great place to base it on. Btw, the "hippie-houses" are from here: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=19050 And the hotel is from here: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=11993 Good luck on your recreation of Bacolod.
  11. We're in Business

About the amount of pictures. Keep in mind that this journal is only 3 days old, so I've been giving you 2 images every day. And I also don't have much more to show you yet, there's pretty much nothing else to show you. I mean I could give you guys some shots of the road, but I'm not sure it'd be very exciting. It also takes alot of time to edit, color adjust and to add realism to the Oh, and thanks alot, I'm very happy that you like the hotel!
  12. We're in Business

We're in Business The hotel is finally finished and the first people are spending their holiday at Hangal Island, and there's many more to come. The hotel is fully booked almost a half year ahead. There have proved to be a huge interest in the Island, it appears that it has become a somewhat trendy topic for conversation among single mothers. The old road has been connected with the hotel and will, in the future, bring tourists to the hotel via the, yet to be built, harbour which will be located where the other former hippie colony was located. The Hotel is located where one of the hippie colonies used to be And there it is. As always, feedback is more than welcome.
  13. The Permit is Signed

Thanks, I'm not sure I can live up to your expectations though as I'm still a beginner, but we'll see. Btw, k50dude: The reason that I don't post that many screenshots is that these are so heavily photoshopped, you don't want to know how the actual construction lot looks.
  14. Rural outskirts.

Looks great, you've really captured the European feeling here, I especially like those farms.
  15. The Permit is Signed

The Permit is Signed The permit is signed, giving Exploitacorp.TM Hotels co. (the company who arranged overday trips to the island) allowance to build their hotel. Everything is set to go, the permit is signed and construction has already begun. An interesting note concerning the construction is that the old "hippie-road" (that's what they call it) has actually been used to transport material to the construction site as the water by the construction site is too shallow. There are already other hotel chains who's gaining interest for the Island and it is rumored that at least a few building proposals already have been left in to the government for inspection. Shouldn't be too long until we see the construction of a dock as well. This is where the hotel will be located. The construction site. As always, feedback is greatly appreciated .
  16. Our story begins

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback, I didn't expect to get this such great comments.
  17. Ostrov - "Island"

Probably one of the best CJs I've ever seen. I love how the cities are so connected with the nature and I'm especially a fan of the shorelines, I really love how you're using those rocks and the beaches "blended" into them. Really one of the most realistic CJs I've come across.
  18. Our story begins

Our Story Begins Somewhere outside of the Philippines, in an area most people would look by, lies yet another Island. Our story begins in 1993 when a bunch of hippies (that's right, hippies) decides that their everyday life isn't enough anymore. So they decide to move somewhere far, far away where they can live in harmony with nature... and go surfing. In the summer of 1994 they all take the cheapest flight down to Manila (capital City of the Philippines), buys a boat (don't ask me how they afforded it) and goes out to find an Island to settle down. The hippies built two small colonies of houses, one by their favorite surfing spot, and one by their favorite snorkeling spot. Two months later, the hippies stole a small car and built a road between the two colonies upon which they were all arrested for. One of the hippies were seriously harmed during their stay in prison, this attracted the eyes of the media and caught the attention of a nearby (I guess everything is relative though) hotel a few Islands away who began doing overday cruises to the Island. The cruise was very popular with the guests and the hotel owners then started to think about building another resort over at the Island. An areal of the Island: One of the hippie colonies: The other one of the colonies: I'll be happy to receive comments, but keep in mind that this is my first try at a city journal, so don't be too harsh.
