Arphaxad Locus

I've been attempting my first real foray into custom lot creation and gmax, but a weird boolean issue has stopped my attempt dead in its tracks. When I try to apply a material to a boolean object, it doesn't show up at all in the normal view; the object stays the color I arbitrarily chose when it was created. When I do a low quality preview, the material does show up, but it looks glitchy and in some places like it's in the same plane as the default material. So... how do I get materials in the material editor to show up on a boolean object in the perspective view, and how do I get them to then render correctly? Am I a stupidhead or are gmax and/or my computer's graphics screwed up? Thanks in advance for the help, because chances are this has an easy solution and I just don't know what I'm doing.

I think the main energy source should be geothermal (energy from volcanoes and lava). Given that Mars has some pretty impressive volcanoes (olympus mons), this would make a lot of sense. Also, hydrogen, microwave and solar would be the only power plants within the game that would make sense.

Dynasty Warriors 4, or 5, or any of the other ones. I hate all of those games with a burning passion. History will look back on them and sigh.

Go into the region folder in My Documents and rename the actual folder itself. This is not in the game. And by the way, the quotes thing works with hellomynameis in addition to whererufrom.

This has to be a thousand times better than Sim City 5. Think about it. It's Sim Earth 2, plus Sim Life 2, PLUS Sim City 5, plus the whole controlling life on the intergalactic level thing, plus on the cellular level, all with hopefully good graphics. Whooo boy, can't wait until E3 when more information will be revealed... edit: plus sim mars for that matter

This thread brings up an interesting point: you have changed those news windows where I have gotten so sick of every news story and headline. Could you make some modd that adds in different titles and articles for stuff like Educators take long recess: they strike? Geez, I knew that off the top of my head. That's how often I see it. This is getting off subject, but this is really great. Can you have it only pop up in certain cities or does it have to be every city?

Well I just got my new computer and all of the problems are fixed. I just downloaded DuskTrooper's Vandium Tower and a microwave power plant from a Japanese site, and they worked. However, the only reason I think were because they included some types of files that weren't .sc4lot files, like .sc4dec or something. I put those to in my mydocsplugins directory, and both buildings are working fine. Whoopee!

For the life of me, I can not figure out how to make the props appear and this post is extremly confusing to me. Skyscrapers appear as cement pads et cetera. Maybe things will be okay again once I get my new computer. I think that I will have to go through my plugins directories for the tenth time soon and try to figure out what I am doing wrong, even though I have done it many, many times before. I think I may have accidentally deleted some of the nessecary plugin dat files from the mydocs directory, but I am not really sure. If I can figure out my problem more specifically, I will post it in the near future.

Try to make a realistic suburbia. That would be intresting.

Drool. I can't wait for all of these to become functional, working things that I can use in my game. Maybe I should just leave simtropolis for a while and then come back and see what has been accomplished. It would be a nice surprise. But I doubt I could do it.

Have you realsed that water transparency modd yet? If so, where can I get it? Also, can you add new trees, not water flora?

Ah ha, I think I figured out how this whole thing's been working, the BAT. Now I see. Just a question, if I replace the ANT network, what will happen to all of the current ANT networks that I have in place? Will they dissapear?

And I bet they use organs to make all their products. And it's too crowded and nothing's ever in the right place. And then there's the fact of the hundreds of industries they dominate, the millions of people they have made lose their jobs (sure they hired some people too, but they put way more people out of jobs), they're ruining the country, they are setting the trends for every product there is, they are lowering the profits of basically every major and minor company in the US and the world, they pay insufficient wages to their employees (ever wonder why you save money? It's out of the employees' paychecks). So not only are they stealing peoples' jobs, they are providing crappy jobs to everyone who works there. Ever see all of those news stories about all of those discrimination etc lawsuits against WalMart? And personally, I don't think the extra 9 cents matters all that much. $19.99 to $19.88? Wooooo. Big deal. It's not worth driving out of my way to do that. An example would be walmart's new online music service, which will drive itunes to lower prices, which will give the artists less money. It will get even worse than in the days of Napster. That's just one example of how walmart is stealing money from everywhere all over the world for the benifit of probably a dozen filthy rich CEO's living somewhere, wasting away all their money. Does that explain it,duke?
