Three words: Ex Cel Lent! Awesome regional tastes on the building. BTW, what are the 3 or 4 story rowhomes called, so I can get them. Thanks!
  2. Skagit County is Officially Dead

Great transitions! Just a tiny itsy bitsy suggestion - no-palm mod - Great CJ!
  3. SFBA - v-0.2

Reconstructing San Francisco > > Welcome back to the San Francisco Bay Authority (AKA – SFBA-v-0.2). This version will start from day one groundwork of the central bay area. As you can see I have laid some baselines for measurement purposes ONLY(Repeat-“these are NOT roads, but they are close to where the real roads will go”. My sources include many “old” maps and “new” maps of San Francisco. I have started with a 19th Century map, a 1906 map, and a 1920’s era map. 1936 is when construction on the bay bridge began, so I will not place them until much later. As the city progresses further, I will use 1950’s through current day, in order to lay in the mass transit lines (i.e. GLR and Freeways). Rail line will be laid using today’s current placement. My math used for conversions (Not 100% accurate but close enough for SC4 conversions to within 1 lot): 1 Lot = 15.625 meters = 51.25 Feet = ~0.01 Miles 64 Lots = 1000 meters = 3280.50 Feet = ~0.60 Miles 128 Lots = 2000 meters = 6561.25 Feet = ~1.25 Miles 256 Lots = 4000 meters = 13122.50 Feet = ~2.50 Miles > > Sample Block Sizes - (This requires constant readjustments, and continual measurements against the referenced baselines) – Main SF – 5 x 8 Blocks or 5x 7 Blocks West SF – 5 x 11 Blocks or 5 x 10 Blocks SOMA – 16 x 9 Blocks (on a diagonal, hint use graph paper) > > Skewed Reality- San Francisco appears to run a basic North/South & East/West orientation but it doesn’t. It does in Richmond and Sunset. It also does in the old east part of the city. BUT when these two areas met near the eastern portion of Golden Gate Park, there is a 7 degree (7 out of 360 degrees) skew! SC4 only “allows” for 90 degree and a false 45 degree, much less a 7 degree! And the supposive 45 degree areas of Bay View, and SOMA don’t go 45 degrees, neither does Market. In reality, it is closer to 30 degrees. So sacrifices have to be made and street realignments have occurred to get this about 90%ish accurate. To the lay reader this recreation will look spot-on. Meanwhile to the natives of SF, they will spot numerous of these errors/fixes that I had to do to make it work without have crazy stair-stepped streets every 4 to 8 lots.(i.e. _____|---------, very unrealistic going 8 across one up then eight across then one up and so on). The First post and area will be the ferry terminal area of the terminus of Market. Coming soon.
  4. I've been following this CJ while building my first version of San Francisco. Who knew that this was fortuned, that my CJ would have a disaster of SC4 biblical proportions. AWESOME JOB ON YOUR CJ!
  5. San Francisco Bay Authority- SFBA

SFBA is closing SC4 is currupted Must reinstall SC4 & all Simtrop downloads Will repost CJ later. SORRY! Please DELETE this CJ.
  6. San Francisco Bay Authority- SFBA

Problems are here. I have had a major mayor ratings crash in some of my sections of the city. I believe I downloaded a faulty item from the STEX. I am probally going to lose, Richmond, Sunset, and OMI. 6 months of work will have to be trashed, as I will unload every single plugin and reload the entire SC4 and then one by one reload the plugins. Then I will rebuild SFBA, until then this CJ will close and I will request it be deleted. Thanks to all whom were following this CJ and sorry.
  7. Industry Needs More Jobs

thanks, needed this for Frisco, SFBA!!!
  8. San Francisco Bay Authority- SFBA

Does anyone have ideas on specific commercial or othertypes of stex I need. If so, then please let me know what they are. I may have to (do I dare say and break my rules of no plops, but here it is) plop some very limited ethnic items to make this work.

Phoenix-Thanks for the post Everyone - I am going to go back and rework again the western neighborhoods and try to tone down the "visable" imperfections and major no-no's. Just in case your wondering, I am also working the "main" parts NE and SE quadrants of the city. I just want to get the NW and SW done right, since they are basically suburban sprawl, and suposivly easier . But rest assured that the dense eastern part of the city will be reworked soon! Especially the GLR, Subway, and Caltrains in the east.
  10. San Francisco Bay Authority- SFBA

bixel & tepodon- thanks for posts. I might have to "bend" my no cheat rules just slightly. Already I am running the optimum routes in NAM, and have 4x muliplier on Industry jobs. What one tile industry lots with high #'s of jobs are you referring to? These darn sim won't travel 4 city tiles to work, its only 10 miles!?!?! Frustrating trying to keep this SF region grounded in reality when the sims won't cooperate. lol.
  11. San Francisco Bay Authority- SFBA

Skyliner-thanks for the comments as always. The problem I am running into is sim travel times. In real san fran, the industrial areas are in the SE, hunters bay area, (as you already know). Here is the western neighborhoods, these are up to 4 city tiles away from the industrial zones. So I had to compromise on reality in order to get the western areas to even grow. I have tried to use the real SF zoning but it won't work, because sim citizens are extremely lazy and will not travel more than 2.5 miles to get to work (1 city tile), even with a well connected trans system. Meanwhile in reality, real SF citizens may travel 10 miles (4 of my city tiles). This is about as closest as I am going to get these western neighborhoods, when using a truely accurate scale in SC4. Again thanks for everything.

WELCOME TO PAGE 3 Again thanks for the posts and the help! I have begun to rework the GLR's to be accurate. I am going to need serious help with rebuilding OMI. I will post what I have later for intensive critics! Photo shots of areas coming this week! Here is photo compare!

    Is this a better breakdown?

District 14 - Welcome District Supervisor phoenix 7, you have been apointed to the Supervisor duties of Marin County, under the SFBA. Understand, that I may have to break down your district, if so, then you will become a County Supervisor. Good luck and god speed with your district. District 9 - Welcome District Supervisor skyliner22, you have been apointed to the Supervisor duties of McLaren, under the SFBA. McLaren was a generic name I gave to that area, if you know of a better name of that area, I will change it. Good luck and god speed with your district. I would really like to encourage you both to take on the responsibilities of CalTrans and BART, maybe we can work together or maybe one of you can pick up one of the TRANS jobs, and the other pick up the other TRANS job. I am looking into possibly creating the post of County Supervisors: San Francisco, Marin, San Mateo, Alameda, and Contra Costa. District Supervisors will be under the County Supervisors. Right now, I don't need them, but when I do I will probally promote from within to get them. Also be aware that when it comes to Oakland International, I will need an Airport Supervisor. BUT not yet, we are not near that point. Just something to keep in mind. Thanks to all for helping make this a REAL Sim City!!!!!
  17. San Francisco Bay Authority- SFBA

District Supervisor Roles- 1. Understand the limitations of SC4. 2. Understand the "feel" and layout of their districts. 3. Coordinate the opinions of posters in their district, into a report so I can rebuild, revamp, tweak their districts to become more realistic. 4. Research development plans of their area currently being done in real life, so I can get an accurate reconstruction of the area, say 5-10 years from now. 5. Be the buffer between unrealistic designs and proper realistic designs. Shortly the CJ will be split up into other baby CJ's by district, the district supervisor will be the moderator. I will supply the maps, pics, and current data to the district sup to be put into their mini CJ. Trans Sups & Parks, will work with district sups and myself to rework their systems into reality. The Trans & Parks Sup's mini CJ will only deal with parks and trans issues. When, in the future, the district is complete, then it will be shown here as completed in the MAIN CJ here for showcasing.

cmdp123789: This map just SF city took me about 1,000 hours of work on it, and I still got Oakland and Berkeley to do. Thanks for the comments! phoenix: district 14 is probally about a month or two away from being started. The only thing in 14 right now is the 101, the furthest north district 14 goes is to Stawberry Village off the 101, just on the north side of Richardson Bay Bridge. 14 will include Tiburon, Belvedere and Angel Island. I may have to break 14 down into additional districts. Also the same for 16 & 17 due to the city sprawls. I would prefer if only one person would have only one job BUT there MAY be exceptions depending on participation and knowledge of the participants here in the CJ. On Trans Sup where you refering to 19 or 20?

Naftixe's Replies shaylan221 - Thanks. threeswept - Thanks, what part of SF do you live in? You seem like a good candidate for being a district supervisor. tahill79- Thanks, I plan on it! skyliner22- Thanks for your post. You also seem like a good candidate for a district supervisor. Hunters Point, I will probally go into it and tweak it to discourage mansions, thanks! jacqulina - Thanks for the encouragement! Psycho Teddy - Thanks for the ego boost. I do see many that are far superior to mine but at the same time I do see alot that are extremely lacking. hopefully, I won't be the later. De Ja Vu- Thanks for the early following!!!! Note to everyone - If you want to apply to be a district supervisor, let me know here. What I am looking for in a district supervisor is someone whom KNOWS a specific SF district like the back of their hand BUT understands the limitations that we deal with in SC4..... THANKS TO ALL FOR LOOKING AND POSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to Outer Richmond What's It Like? Before 1900, most of the San Franciscans in the Richmond District were the deceased inhabitants of the municipal and Chinese cemeteries. It's taken over a hundred years for the Outer Richmond to blossom from a giant vacant lot into prime (albeit foggy) real estate. At the turn of the 20th century, it was little but sand dunes and potato fields and was dubbed "The Outer Lands" and "The Great Sand Waste" until streetcars opened it up to the public. Early in its history, those eager to sell homes and property in other parts of the Richmond tried to rechristen it "Park Presidio," but the original moniker stuck fast, though the origins of "Richmond" are uncertain. The most common explanation is that an early settler saw in its stark, gently hilly landscape echoes of his old home in Richmond, New South Wales, Australia. While the Inner Richmond is a restaurant haven and one of the city's more difficult parking areas, the Outer Richmond retains a neighborhood feel along its main shopping streets. The many waves of immigrants who have settled have put their stamp on it; whole blocks along Geary Boulevard hum with Russian and Cantonese speakers, and you can find Mexican, Russian, French and Italian restaurants with ease, not to mention a plethora of establishments serving food from every corner of Asia. Like the Outer Richmond itself, Geary calms down considerably after 25th Avenue as it meanders off into the fog and ultimately ends at the Pacific Ocean. Lincoln Park: Most people know Lincoln Park for two things: The Palace of the Legion of Honor and the golf course. Fewer know about the park's easy access to Land's End and a portion of the Coastal Trail that runs about six miles along the bluff above the sea, from Baker Beach to Ocean Beach. Walkers along this path will be treated with incredible views and a series of alarming yet amusing warning signs with messages like, "Danger: People have fallen from these rocks and drowned." What a downer. Palace of the Legion of Honor: Perched at the top of Lincoln Park, overlooking Seacliff, the Richmond and the sea, the Palace of the Legion of Honor was built in the 1920s to honor Californians who died in France in World War I. It was originally intended to showcase French art, but its raison d'être has enlarged over the decades, and now it features art from around the world. Last summer it hosted a huge Georgia O'Keeffe show, and it now houses the Anderson Graphic Arts Collection, including works by Jasper Johns, Claes Oldenburg, Helen Frankenthaler, Robert Rauschenberg and Richard Diebenkorn. 34th Avenue at Clement Street, (415) 863-3330.

Skyliner: Thanks for the input! On the Mission Bay Campus, I got it from the Proposed redevelopment plan. On It showed open fields, but I could not tell what they where for, so I just guessed using SC park items. The avenue in between the campus and the redeveloped residential area has a plopped canal/waterway in the median. This was just some artistic license I threw in. The Sloat/Sunset intersection, that university is not SFSU, I just threw the Maxis University in there, instead of trying to recreate the mall there. The real SFSU, is not shown and is further east, I will showcase it in detail later. Yes Sloat does not have muni. I again used artistic license based on a proposed muni system to be in place 10-20 years down the road. Muni has proped many of the routes that I am showing in this CJ. Again thanks, this is why I will "hire" supervisors for transit issues like this.

San Francisco County - The City of San Francisco is completed, All citywide districts are 100% done!!!! National Park areas in the city are still under construction- 1. Golden Gate Park, need to find comparable landmarks. 2. Lake Merced area golf courses, and Lake Merced Recreational area in southwest SF County. Need to get a good golf course kit from STEX, any suggestions. 3. Lincoln Park. Need good comparable landmarks in STEX, does anybody know of any specific ones. Probally on launch, I will advertise for District Supervisor candidates, from the readers here. I will also probally also advertise for a Muni-Rail Supervisor , a CalTrans Supervisor, and a Parks Supervisor. These supervisors will research the real SF and help me improve in their appointed areas. Thanks for the interest in this CJ!!!!
