I will continue my experiment, but there are a lot of non-realistic factors in simcity that are limiting the experiment.. maybe in real life it would be easier to have a carless city.

Too bad this happened. at least I uploaded the marrast underpasses to my server. You can download them here: http://www.creatopolis.com/DaMaster_Architect/marrast.zip I'd like to open my server for anyone who wants to upload 'lost' files, but doesnt want to do that on the STEX. Just PM me Do you think this solution will do? I'm glad if I could be of any help, and in this case, I'd gladly like to let my server store the files for you

What a wounderful world it would be if......
DaMaster_architect replied to pickled_pig's topic in General Off-Topic
I think the solution is fairly simple, though totally impossible: if there was a way that everone would be able to do what he or she wants, there would be no problems at all. Most argues start because people don't agree with eachother. Why do they disagree? Because the possibility exists that they can loose something if the "enemy" gets what he or she wants. But if everyone would be able to do what he or she wants, and get what he or she wants, there would be no need of argues, no need of wars. However, to accomplish such a thing, everyone should at least think the same way, feel the same way, and have the same opinion. Also, other things should change, but already this first example shows that an Utopia is totally impossible. Sad, but true. I think the best way to live together without hassle would be to be symphatetic to eachother, and don't act so childish: people are moaning more and more that they loose things, things which aren't of much importance anyway. Still, people start arguing about them, courts come because of them, large fees are paid of them, simply because people fail to be symphatetic. These are just my two cents. This is the way I think, many people will probably have another opinion, but I didn't mean to offend someone in any case. P.S.: The past years, I did notice that at simtropolis, people are WAY more respectful and symphatetic to eachother than at any other place, virtual or not, on earth. -
Computer with 16 cores shown off at CeBit
DaMaster_architect replied to MayorTim's topic in General Off-Topic
up to that, it would generate heaps of heat, which you all need to cool :S meh, I always disliked multi-core processors, since I am a gamer. Games will be single-threaded for a looooong time, and no one wants to play 16 games at the same time and the same screen. -
I remember there once was indeed a modd at the STEX, which splitted each menu section into different sections, and these sections were displayed next to each other. However, I have no idea how the modd is called, and where you could find it, so Im of little help Im afraid

to me, tunnels are a great way to save space, but nothing more. Ive got one very succesfull city, with 600k inhabitants. When I started the city, I built lots of low densed residential neighbourhoods alongside the city border, which I connected with the industrial neighbourcity. Eventually, the entire city border was filled with low densed residential zones, making residential expansion beyond those neighbourhoods almost impossible. Thats because all those commuters from the dense residential zones had to drive through the low-densed neighbourhoods in order to get to their work in the adjacent industrial city. I solved this by digging 5 highway tunnels from the high density zones to the city border, underneath the low density zones. And it worked perfectly! Commute time decreased from like 170 minutes to about 50. However, I think this is simply because the sims from the high density zones didn't need to drive through the neighbourhoods.

One thing may be clear: It's possible to have a carless city. However, the monthly costs are so high that the budget gets unmanageable, and you won't make any money... ever! ... or at least, that's the problem I'm facing.

What kind of Fortress do you have around your PC?

As for beastiality.... That's only recognized in Holland.quote> (quoted from vidioman, page 1) you've got guts, you we dutch people dislike beastiality as much as you do! You know whats cool about holland? The fact that gay people can marry each other here. This made the amount of gay people in holland increase rapidly, for as far as I know. Suddenly every guy wants to marry another guy :S

WOW. I can most certainly garuntee you have several keyloggers, dialers, etc. on your pc. It would behoove you to ad least download Spybot S&D or Ad-Aware. Download one of them, update it and run a system scan. I will garuntee you have some uglies on your pc already. Geez no protection, no firewall. Ever heard of the phrase "if you play with fire, your gonna get burnedquote> haha, like I care I've got a new computer within a few weeks, and this one is a budget computer that can't even run old games. The best game endings on any console
DaMaster_architect replied to Elton_Bush's topic in Gaming Talk
I haven't finished that many games, but the ending in Zelda: Wind Waker is definitely the most beautiful one that I've ever seen. The moment that young link finally beated the final boss, was so cool! Link grabbed his sword, jumped skyhigh and with enormous force he flew right into the boss with the tip of his sword. Immideately, the boss turned into stone and the game was over. That small scene really impressed me most. -

heh, thats funny... I don't have any protection tool, and I have the windows firewall always turned off. This works for me since like one year. However, once I feel that my computer is running slower than it should, I simply format the hard drive and reinstall everything. There isn't much data on my system anyway. -
Show us your home City's skyline
DaMaster_architect replied to T-Dot Boy's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
The city where I live isn't particular fascinating, but still I'd like to show a bit of it to you the street you see here is the central shopping street of Nijkerk... with the big church tower in the background. Actually, you can see that tower from every road leading to Nijkerk. And that's a pretty cool view. -
yeah, it takes a lot of time before the health quality significantly changed in your city. You can think of 20 to 30 sim-years, before your health is at its maximum possible.

Thats Me! v1.0 At the NCS forum, we have a popular forum game, called Thats Me!. The game rules are simple: Someone calls a habit, for example likes chocolate. If you like chocolate, you reply, saying: Thats me!. In the same post, you should call a new habit, for example: is weird. The next one can reply, saying Thats Me! if he is so, and then he or she should think of a new habit. with many thanks to i-will-crush-u, who came up with the idea. I'll start. ------------------------------------- Is right handed.

Mayor Damatee took out enormous loans to finance the growth, but now they have all to be paid. This costs Flevo Plains several thousands a month. Because of these high monthly costs, the mayor had to reduce the budgets of educational, infrastructural, health and garbage reduction structures. However more and more people moved to Flevo Plains and therefore growth could continue. Currently, there is not much space left to feed the growth. Also, commute is a problem, since lots of people can
