Community Interviews Maxis: Part 2
Moory replied to Jokurr's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
If the reason to not terraform is because of the resource side of it, then that's not a good enough answer. Maxis could somehow implement having players add the resources to the map that they create rather than having pre-built maps. That to me is being very limited on the freedom that this game has always been based upon. Although Sim City on SNES was based on random pre-built maps and I still loved that game. I am still being optimistic about this game as much as it hurts to say. There is still plenty of time for changes to be made before release plus being that this game is online-only, Maxis could easily release a fix to allow terraforming again. -

Maxis Claiming to Listen to its "Core Base"
Moory replied to nedal2001's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
What fans need to realize concerning multiplayer is that games being developed these days are based on some sort of multiplayer. Many interviews with Maxis state that SimCity needs to catch up with what players want these days. I get that multiplayer won't be for everyone on these forums, and it may or not be for me either, but no one is forcing you to play with other people. Maxis has clearing stated that you can create your own world by yourself without anyone else bothering you. I don't blame Maxis for going the multiplayer route. They are not charging you for a monthly subscription, and if they did, that would be the killer of this reboot. The way I see it, they want us to stay connected to get the latest updates/tweaks/bugs fixed as well. Look at Diablo 3; it's the same concept with players needing some sort of online connection. -
First in-game screenshots of Simcity (2013)
Moory replied to fatbuster's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
7 seconds to 13 seconds looks like the real in-game game play, but obviously still in beta. -
Regions in SC5 look pretty neat (from E3 video)
Moory replied to RRtexasranger's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Definitely excited for this game to be released. One minor detail that bothered me was the way cars merged into different lanes as shown on the Watch how the city bus merges from the middle lane to the right lane, it almost appears the bus is sliding on ice. -
What would you name the new SimCity?
Moory replied to I. Lostalim's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
SC5 would be more appropriate. But, if Maxis wants to revive the franchise, they will choose Sim City and develop expansions afterward. -
[moderator]They might, but we will not be discussing it here on this forum.[/moderator] Please read this. I thought I'd be riding the fence with my post.I apologize about that. I just hope Maxis is really reading these forums and are taking offline into serious consideration.

You do realize that someone will develop a work around file that won't require any online connectivity? It won't happen right away but soon after release it will be available to download unless Maxis decides otherwise.

How many of you actually would/will play multiplayer?
Moory replied to Dewm's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I may try it once. But, I can see things getting out of hand with people purposly doing dumb things to create havic in your city if your city is dependant on your neighbors industry, power, jobs, housing, or whatever it may be. The only workaround I see is letting users host their games and create "rooms" for others to join. They could either keep their game private (invite only) or open for anyone to join. Maxis may have already covered this so please disregard this sentence then. -

Disasters in SimCity (2013)
Moory replied to The_City_Builder's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I would like to see the return of floods whether it's being caused from heavy rainfall, snow melt, or hurricanes. It's been a long time since we've seen floods and it's definitely one of the top natural disasters in real life. Also, I wouldn't doubt Maxis returning Tornadoes to the game. What I would like to see is an option for the EF-scale. I doubt they would make it that technical, but it's still an idea. -
Those of you who are apprehensive or negative about SimCity
Moory replied to Clonk's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
After reading the discussion on Reddit, I feel a lot more comfortable and excited for the new SimCity. The thing I feared most was Maxis making it strictly multiplayer only, but now that Maxis developers cleared that up, and reassuring the community there will be offline mode, I am confident they will deliver. -
I'd like to give Monte Cristo some credit for their work on CXL. I have zero experience playing the game as I have stuck with SC4 since release, but I believe Monte Cristo is following the right path. I believe they are moving towards the "next-gen" type of Sim City game which some people don't want, but in reality, it's what every game company is doing. I have viewed plenty of videos/screenshots/CJ's of CXL and I am sort of interested in their direction with the game. The game has that "real-life" feeling to it, and gives you the ability to view your city from different angles that SC4 does not offer. Some of the screenshots out there looks comparable as if you were viewing a city on Google Earth. I like that feature, imo. Obviously I am missing the inner mechanic problems CXL may contain that drives some people away from the game and I totally understand that. But you have to realize that bugs are in all new type of games and I hope you at least give Monte Cristo a break from that aspect of the game. That's why if this game sustains a success, CXL 2011 will be even greater than the first. Then CXL 2012 or whatever they call it will be even better. You get the idea. Maybe Monte Cristo is listening to people here on Simtropolis and are throwing your ideas onto the drawing board for the next CXL installment. EA isn't taking advantage of extending the Sim City series any time soon, so Monte Cristo has a HUGE opportunity of taking lead in the city building game. I honestly can't see us never seeing another Sim City type game. There has always been racing/shooter/sports/war/etc games for as long as I can remember, and I can't see some type of city building game phasing out forever to be seen. One day we will see the next "real" Sim City release, just gotta be patient with it.

Hello, I have been having trouble installing new plugins that I recently downloaded. What I mean is that when I download a specific building, texture, etc.. They seem to block out other plugins and make things 'invisible'. Is there a proper way of installing these certain types of plugins? How should I go about keeping my plugins folder organized to keep all my files in a neat clean order, and so they do not mix up and affect other plugins. If anyone know what I am talking about, It would be very helpful for some feedback. Thanks. **Also, adding on to my topic, could someone give a nice screen shot of their plugin folder? If you can give me a basic list of how to install certain types of plugins into my folder that would be wonderful.

How should I install plugins properly?
Moory replied to Moory's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Phoenix: No, when I plot certain buildings that I have downloaded, the parking lot will become invisible. -
How do you feel about the SCS announcement?
Moory replied to Dirktator's topic in City-Building Games
For the love of god, please don't use the Sim City name. Who honestly thought this new format was going to impress the Sim City fan base? This is terrible and a huge joke of all time. I really don't know what to think right now. This is not Sim City at all and a huge kick in the face to Maxis for not continuing expansions. Now a random company comes by and takes a great game and turns it into junk. If this is seriously what this game is going to turn out, using the Sim City name, you can see me never purchasing this ever. These developers are completely clueless to what they're trying to create and destroying everything Maxis put time and effort into. Pathetic. -
This is my first post ever asking for a BAT. In a few years, a new 40 million Hotel and Entertainment Complex will be completed called Canad Inns in Grand Forks, ND. Canad Inns is a hotel chain in Winnipeg, MB. It has started construction last month in March and has a long way to go but will definetely be the best hotel in North Dakota. I am simply asking for a creation of this new Hotel and Entertainment Complex being built next to the Alerus Center for myself and others on ST. I have several links to pictures and a 3 dimensional artist rendering of the new Hotel and Entertainment Complex. For pictures, here is a link: http://www.canadinns.com/grandforks/ OR http://www.canadinns.com/photogallery/gallery/view.php?gallery_id=20 For the 3D movie, link is here http://www.canadinns.com/grandforks/images/winmedia.wmv To the left of the Hotel, is the Alerus Center, I don't want that attached to it even though it's going to be when it's completed. I thank you for your time, if your interested help getting this created, please PM me on the website.

Hello and welcome to the Jasper Mountain region! This will be my first CJ on ST. I hope this turns out great as this progresses. I hope to add little things here and there to keep this CJ going and any feedback/tips to help make this better and any future CJ's would be great. Jasper Mountain, a great place to fish, hunt, hike, mountain climbing or grab a bite to eat at one of the finest cities, Maple Forks and Hampleton. Maple Forks, the biggest city of JM and Hampleton the second biggest. These two little towns soon to grow to major cities in the future according to Lunk News. Maple Forks, only consisting a population of 205 is expected to grow to 1,000 in the next year. Hampleton, a town of 146 is expected to grow to around 600 in the next year. Oakport and Asper Bay with little or no growth with in the next year. Total population with all 4 towns combined to around 1,700 next year. Some people may think thats nothing, but wait till 5-10 years down the line where its expected to be 30,000 in Maple Forks alone and 25,000 in Hampleton. So I hope you all enjoy this CJ and any feedback/tips would help me ALOT! An inside look on Maple Forks and Hampleton tomorrow as I get some rest!

Great City! This has to be my favorite CJ out of them all. And have a great Christmas!
-
jacqulina: Hey! Merry Christmas to you as well! freedo50: Thanks, I hope to make this presentation a good start. PhilsCafe: Thanks! aldara6166: Yep, I thought starting on a small region would work best for me on my first CJ. I have looked at all the trixie winners, and they're great! And I will be trying to get some kind of ideas from others and I hope to see you helping me along! Micah: Thank you! Hey all and welcome back to Jasper Mountain! As I said before, we will take an inside look in Maple Forks and Hampleton. But not to make this a huge update, I'll be showing the insides of Maple Forks. Then soon to come, Hampleton update! Maple Forks! Welcome visitors and new residents! Over the past year or so Maple Forks has rapidly developed. Starting out as an established city last year, it is now an amazing 1,295! As facts are finally coming true, the city is GROWING! Experts predicted this and they were right on key. Steve Kluston finally settles in his new home in Maple Forks! Citizens of Maple Forks flock to greet and meet him. City planners review the current work of the residential section, so far, plans are right on. They look forward to expand the residential area North East along the mountain side. City planners also reviewing the current work of the commercial area. Businesses are flocking to Maple Forks and lots are quickly being filled. The commercial expansion will be South and East of the residential. Finally, the planners take a look at the industrial. They are having a hard time on how to expand this area, so it doesn't bleed into the main part of Maple Forks. But they have a slight idea to build in that area, to stay atleast a good few miles away from the heart of Maple Forks. Now, thats taken care of, they now design the new map of Maple Forks land use through the year 10. THe city planners need to be careful on not to waste any kind of space, as the predicters say Maple Forks will grow to around 35,000 now in the next 5-10 years. ________________________________________ Stay tuned to the next update, Hampleton! Thanks for stopping by to Jasper Mountain!
