  1. Plugins

Most plugin files should be labeled from the get go... often the creators have their name as well as the name of the plugin in the title of it.
  2. Serious Lag & Crashing- Please Help.

Thanks... tried running the software rendering again, this time leaving details up where they belong. Not a major difference in the details or quality, but also did not fix that lag that much. Seems more worth sticking with harware rendering and suffering untill more RAM is in the picture. Tung or NOB... any suggestions untill RAM can be had ? I know I have heard mention of stoping certain processes, etc while during game play to free more of the systems resources.
  3. Serious Lag & Crashing- Please Help.

Tung: Software rendering doesnt cut it for me. I tried it and there were no lot details, trees, etc. NOB: Thanks... I was waiting for you to chime in... I know your pretty good at this stuff. Anything I can do in the meantime, till I can afford some RAM ?
  4. Now I know there have been many threads addressing this, however, trying to sort through all of them and pick out the info that will help me is not really a sensible thing to do. So here it goes: I have serious, serious game lag. Im talking... population of 8000, mostly low to medium density and no major custom stuff goin on. I get crashes once in awhile if I scroll too fast. Its crazy. Draw speed when I scroll takes forever. Used to have this problem before, and somehow fixed it... but, I was trying to tweek vid card about a month back, and the problem returned. I love this game... but its starting to get too frustrating to play with these issues. So... if Im lagging and crashing at 8000 pop and low density development, I figure Ill never make it to anything more than mini city... need to fix this. System Specs: Windows XP Pro Intel P4 HT 3GHZ 512 MB Ram 60 GHZ Hard drive - 30 Gig free Virtual Mem: Min - 1536MB / Max - 3072MB Vid Card: ATI Mobility Radeon X600 / 256 MB. Running Driver Ver. 6.14.10.6505 Game Specs: Running SC4 Deluxe / Updated & Patched Hardware Rendering / Low Settings for Shadows, Cars, Building Draw. Medium on Visual Effects High on Texture and City Detail Mods: NAM - Normal Pathfinding 10x speeds / Turn lanes on Avenues Simolean RH, Road Top MT, Bridge Height, No Palms, RH Plop, Stage Limit Mod. Plugins: Hospital Prop, School Pack, Some Pegprod Tree Mods and thats about it. Please Help !!!!
  5. Post Modding Requests Here

Here is my request.... I know there are allready Road Top Mass Transit that exist... however, they seem to all have the issue of not being able to place residential in front of them, for lack of road access... Maybe a road top set that would include a lot attached that would occupy the space in front of the stop and still have residents, workers, etc, and still have road access... Hope that makes sense Thanks,
  6. Urban Traffic Management

Zut, There are other options other than upgrading topside networks. In a larger city, depending on your wealth/poplulation ratio, subway & bus will help alot with congestion. This is just a personal preference, but I like to plan out subway and bus right at the begining. Again, personal preference. Try adding subway stops in major neighborhoods and connecting them to major commercial/industry areas. Lower wealth sims will use mass transit. Also, the Road Top Mass Transit MOD will help if you dont want to waste space for subway/bus stops. You can find it here... https://www.simtropolis.com/modding/index.cfm?p=details&id=251 (Just be aware, you cannot place RT stops directly in front of a res lot, they will abandon. If you have say a 1x1 RT transit stop, the res in front of it would need to be at least a 2 tile wide res lot so that it still has a road connection.) Try that, see if it works.
  7. Im running with and old ATI Mobility Radeon x600 (not that old, but old) I have not had this problem, although many others. Strange.... What exact graphics card are you running D3? Nevermind, would have helped if I re-read your first post.
  8. Missing Textures, props on Parks, etc...

Problem solved... MOD can you lock or delete this thread Thanks
  9. Missing Textures, props on Parks, etc...

More recent games are not an issue for me. SC4 is the only thing I play on my comp. LOL
  10. Missing Textures, props on Parks, etc...

Ok, fixed the texture and prop problem. Uninstalled SC4 again, and searched comp for any SC4 or Maxis files and deleted. Realized after last un-install that the program files, maxis folder is still there. Seemed to solve the one problem. Still would like advice on graphics card issue, or direction to a thread that addresses it.
  11. Good point Parsel... disabling virus scan (only with Internet connection disabled) does speed up performance. Not sure that this will solve D3's problem, but its worth a shot.
  12. No, deleting the Intro Dat file will simply remove the introduction from the begining of the game at startup. It will not corrupt the game at all. I deleted it long ago when I was having performance issues, it speeds the game up quite a bit. My theory with you is that maybe the Intro DAT file is corrupted allready and that is why the game freezes in the middle of it.
  13. Missing Textures, props on Parks, etc...

Nope, no good Tung... allready did that. And let me correct myself... there are not just trees, props etc, missing from parks, but from EVERYTHING... Res, Comm & Ind zones. Like there is some sort of prop pack missing.
  14. Ok, so here is the deal. I have been playing SC4 since it came out. Recently started playing around with MODs, etc. I started experiencing some issues, so I decided to uninstall SC4 and start over. My current situation as it stands: Re-Installed SC4 Updated from Simcity.com Updated graphics card drivers Machine Specs: Windows XP Pro (Svc. Pk. 2) Intel P4 HT 3ghz. 60 Gig HD 512 MB of Ram Virtual Mem: Initial: 1536MB Max: 3072 ATI Mobility Radeon X600 (driver Ver. 8.281.0.0) I am now experiencing issues with my parks... they have nothing on them, except grass... no benches, no trees, no nothing. (although this issue existed before un-install, which was a major factor in doing it. Figured I had messed something up with a plugin.) So, I need to know what to do. Am wondering if the problem existed as a result of not deleting the folder out of the Program Files before re-install, hence, whatever the issue was still existed. Also, wondering if I should roll back the graphics driver... actually seemed to be a bit more lag after the update. Thanks
  15. Sounds like a loading issue... as in the game is freezing up at that point. I would try to get the update patch (link below) This is for manual update, select your game version, and then the proper download based on your region. http://simcity.ea.com/update/index_update.php You may also want to delete the Intro Dat. This may eliminate the problem, and will definetly help speed up your game start. C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe ----> Intro (Dat File) Delete this.
