  1. How much tiles?

im not entirely sure how many tiles the tallest buildings take up, but im getting a lot of ppl (n guide sources etc) saying to get ready with a 4*4 tile commercial (or even residential) coz proly the tallest skyscrapers tend to just take up that amount of space as wot like nerdly_dood has said.. now, the 5*6 tiled bulding i said to u wasnt reli a big one, its just merely a shopping mall that has a huge compound area (open grass, paved area, parking garage..all theses seems 2 take up space). its called the HSU MALL if uve seen it before. So its more spread out, than going up. so i'd proly say as long as u reserve 4*4 tiles for comm/residen..u wont be missing out on anything! so lets just wait n see til ur city starts growing em tall! fyi..if im nt mistaken, u need at least 40000 commercial jobs inorder for u start seeing hi-rise comm buildings..
  2. Problem with a river

right ok, silly me! lol its just that in one of my particular city, my commercial population is slightly higher than my residental population (duno if u guys have had this) which was a bit strange for me coz that city was only connected to only ONE neighbouring city by which the residental area is on the other end of that city map. so was just thinkin that it just mite not be possible for ppl in da neighbouring city to commute that far. ive been playin simcity4 for a while now but sumtimes facts from real life cities just get into me a bit too much! =P
  3. Newcomer needs Help... Please!

yeah normally i get high demands for agriculture when i start a city. but most of the time i just ignore it. Doesnt really effect anything. so u zoned too many commercial zones for starters then, yea u shuda zone more residential first to bring in ppl 2 live in ur city. THEN demand for commercial would go up n u'd start seeing developments in ur blue squares =))
  4. Problem with a river

was just wondering...is ur commercial area mostly dominated by hi-rise skyscrapers? coz wel i duno if this applies 2 simcity, but tall skyscrapers tend 2 contain residential areas as well..like ppl living n working in da same building...so if ALL the employees in a particular building of urs also live in their skyscrapers that proly explains y theres hardly any traffic..
  5. Trees

do u guys recon that JUST by planting trees everywhere (including non-zoed areas) could act as a substitute to building parks/recreational areas? coz the city beautification expenses is just draining away my cash! once i start 2 build one/two parks i tend to decorate my city with more! just cant help it =(
  6. Newcomer needs Help... Please!

oh u poor thing! lol yeah that must be reli tough for u since u never played any simcity before n u jumped straight away to SC4! thats a HUGE leap i must say. Ive been following ALL of the SC from the 2000 one, n i must say the 4th one is NOTHING compared 2 da previous ones, its 10 times a lot harder than any!..so its proly wise 4 u 2 proly start off wif the 3000 one..but then again if u insist on playin the 4th one (which is THE BEST of all) then yeah sure y not..right..when u start a city.. so u said about blue squares and nothing built on it? when u say blue do u mean the COMMERCIAL zone? the part whre u economy...wot do u want to know bout it? i mean..specifically..i duno if its me or if ur english reli is...wel bad..but im finding it a bit hard 2 understand wot ur trying 2 say =X
  7. How much tiles?

its hard to say whats the max no. of tiles, coz recently ive just found out a 6*5 tiled commercial building after having to play SC4 for 3 years now! so yea maybe it strongly depends on ur city conditions..
