Hello, I’m FissileBread and this is my first CJ, entitled Amsterdam. I’m pretty new here, but I’ve been lurking around for some time and got inspiration to start my own CJ after reading others. First of all, I have never lived, nor travelled to Amsterdam. Thus, my CJ is only a somewhat accurate recreation. I simply had the idea to recreate Amsterdam, and I kept adding more subtle details until I thought about making it into a CJ. My recreation is not to scale, unfortunately. This is because when I first started out, I did not take the project seriously, and afterwards, it was to late to restart. Another problem for me was the layout of Amsterdam itself. Amsterdam is a city filled with vast networks of angled roads and canals as you can see from this real-life Amsterdam overview: Finally, I hope you enjoy reading this CJ. If you have ever been to Amsterdam, or live there, I would greatly appreciate feedback to make my CJ more accurate. Here are some shots of my work so far: That concludes my first update. Hope you liked it, and please comment.

I need some help for my city, I'm kind of a perfectionist so I really want every piece of my city to be just right, and in order to do this I need to modify some custom content, I was just hoping if someone could tell me how to do this because I would reallllly appreciate it. Canals: Everybody knows how simgoober's canals, however, it is mostly is narrow canals which interest me. I want to change the texture of the water. How would I do this? I'm pretty sure I need to use 3D max or something, but I have no idea how to do it. I also want to create new piece for them, but I think that would have to be done in 3D max as well. Ped-malls: The ped-malls are a great feature, however, they seem too empty for me. How would I be able to modify them using the lot editor, but have them retain their transit-enabled property? GLR: This is kinda the same issue as the Ped-malls. There is an option that exits for straight GLR over ped-mall, but I want to change the base texture for the 90 degree turns as well. How can I do this? Thanks so much for the help!

Hey guys, I hope I haven't let too many of you down... I was away for the past while and I've been super busy. Also my plugins folder has become very messy. It will take A LOT of work to get amsterdam running without any ugle brown boxes. Some additional areas of the city have been created, like the Dam square and the Central Station, but I don't think I'll have much time to start constructing more areas soon. I just need to get my plugins folder up and running and I might post some more pics of the city. Thanks for the support guys. I especially like those sites. I'll try and get together an update as soon as possible.

C0ckatoo-210893: Hey, thanks for commenting again! I’m glad you like the glr, I just wish all the pieces had brick base textures, instead of just the 1x1 straight section! Odd from Sweden: No, I have never used the reader before, I will try and use it and see if I am able to change the stats. You’re right about some of the vanderaap buildings, they growing like crazy! Thanks for the advice, hope to see you again! Tomdapom: I’m glad you like it tomdapom! Thanks for commenting! Jayo: Thanks jayo, for coming back! I’m glad you enjoyed the update! Koekie01: Thanks koekie! I am will try my best to recreate some of those neighbourhoods although I’m not sure about some of them… concerning the arenA, I wish that the exact replica bat that was being featured in a stadium thread a while ago was actually released, however, it never made its way onto the STEX. I guess I’ll have to use another stadium instead…any suggestions? Collgab: Hey collgab, thanks for dropping by! Jacqulina: Hey Jacqulina! Yes, it’s unfortunate there are no houseboats available. I’m glad to hear you use the same terraforming techniques, as your landscapes are stunningly beautiful! Homeandaway: Thanks for commenting! I know there are no yachts lol, but unfortunately those were some of the only boats available. Mr. Beer: Thanks for checking out my CJ, David! I’m glad you like it! SoNell: lol, I don’t speak dutch, but the fact that you are replying in dutch means a lot to me! I hope you keep replying in dutch! dank u mijn vriend! (I used babelfish) suplado!: Thanks for commenting, suplado! Benedict: Thanks for the comment! That really is my goal, to recreate the feel of the city. I’m glad you like it! SimsPlanet2: Thanks for checking out my CJ simsplanet! I don’t speak dutch, lol, but that’s ok, its really cool that people are replying in dutch, and I really hope you keep replying in dutch! dank u mijn vriend! (I used babelfish) Hanson784: Thanks for commenting Hanson! I’m glad you enjoyed the update! Crazyyaya: Thanks for coming back! I’m happy that you like my CJ! BlondeTwiggy: Hi BlondeTwiggy, thanks for the comment once again! I like the first pic too, I turned down the brightness a little for that one. I grow most of my buildings, and the result is a lot of querying, making historicaling, and demolishing, in order to get my buildings right. Krio: Thanks Krio! I haven’t seen other people’s Amsterdams, but I’m happy you like mine! Mikeaut1: Thanks! I look forward to seeing you again! penguin007: Hey Will! I’m happy to hear that it looks like Amsterdam! Thanks! Johan_91: Thanks Johan! I appreciate your support! JanYpe: lol, another dutch comment! I love these! I don’t speak dutch, but the act of you replying in dutch is really special! I hope you continue to do so! Het damvierkant is reeds gemaakt, spoedig gezocht het! (I hope there aren’t too many mistakes, I used babelfish) Update: Artis - A Cultural Zoo Artis, the oldest zoo in the Netherlands was founded in 1838. The many visitors enjoy the 19th-century atmosphere of the gardens: the winding paths and majestic trees. Artis is a haven of peace and quiet right in the city centre of Amsterdam. Artis is a fascinating zoo. In an area of 14 hectares around 700 species provide a magnificent overview of the entire animal kingdom. Amphibians, reptiles, fish, birds, mammals and insects... all are superbly represented. Artis' renowned aquarium reveals the secret life of Amsterdam's canals! Around the zoo, many more Dutch and European animal and plant species can be found, as well as more exotic ones. Visitors can also come to quench their thirst for knowledge at the Planetarium, the museums, and all kinds of smaller exhibitions. The also exists an exciting African Safari Exibihit, which surrounds the main visitor’s building. The entrpotdok industrial canal to the north, and picturesque Amsterdam neighbourhoods to the east, west, and south flank Artis. The Plantage Middenlaan avenue provides easy access to the zoo. The Artis Zoo is still as enchanting as it was nearly two centuries ago. Not only is Artis an oasis of peace right at the heart of a fast-paced city, but it is also a haven for several animal species and tree varieties, many on the verge of extinction. Finally, here is the location of Artis on the region map: That concludes my update! Hope you like it and please comment! Thanks to all who have commented so far, your feedback means so much to me!!! I greatly appreciate your support!!!

manman99: Hey manman, thanks for being the first comment! Glad you like it, hope to see you again! seemurray2: Thanks for stopping by! SpecialEddie: Thanks Eddie! Parked cars took quite some time to do in the lot editor. Region shot in this update! GreekMan: Thank you GreekMan! I’m glad you like it! C0ckatoo-210893: Thanks for commenting! The reason the canals end into the roads is because the bridge pieces take up a tile on either side of the canal, and sometimes I need an intersection there. Furthermore, the bridges are a transit-enabled lot, therefore I cannot zone residential there. That space is essential! (I hope I’m not confusing you lol). There are many other Amsterdam configurations with the canals that force me to do weird things, such as intersecting diagonal narrow canals with glr in avenue pieces. cleaner475: Thanks for stopping by Richard, hope to see you again! DarkEldar: Glad you like it man! Syphax: Thanks for commenting, region shot in this update! jacqulina: Thanks a lot for stopping by Jacqulina! I’m glad you like it, hope to see you again! koekie01: lol yes I was inspired by Liaane, it’s a very nice CJ! I’m glad you like mine, and thanks for commenting! Lifetec: Thanks for commenting! It’s nice to hear from someone who has been there. I’m glad it looks similar. waldner: Thanks Waldner! Hope to see you again. jayo: Thanks for commenting! The reason I don’t have that many bushes is because it’s hard place trees and bushes overlapping, because the bushes transform into trees when I’m plopping them, lol. I’ll try to make an effort to get more however. Thanks for the suggestion. Odd from Sweden: Thanks for commenting! I love your buildings! I like the Annanas building, the only problem is that its growing like weeds in my city! It’s ok though, because it looks great, especially at corners when you can see the painting clearly! Base1212: Thanks for stopping by, I’m glad you like my city. Nice to hear from someone from Holland! mayorbk: Thanks a lot! I’m glad you enjoy it. mjig_dudy: Thanks for commenting! Yes, there are a lot of Amsterdam buildings on the STEX, I was surprised too that no one had attempted a recreation. Perhaps it is because of all those mind-boggling canal and road networks! Photoshopping wasn’t too hard, I’m sure you could do it too! Just go to filter->sharpen and you picture will look five times better! E.J.C.: Thanks for stopping by! I would really like to get some houseboats, except none are available on the STEX! I’m also awful at batting. I tried to make some, but failed miserably. I hope someone decides to release some houseboats props, it would be really useful. Until then, I guess I’ll have to use the other default boats. cazyyaya: Thanks! I’m trying to make it closest to Amsterdam as I possibly can, I’m glad you enjoy it! gshmails: Thanks you commenting! Lol, I did do a red light district, but its pretty small, and there is no explicit content. It’s ok though, theres a lot more to Amsterdam then legal prostitution! Btw, I love your glr in avenue station. BlondeTwiggy: Thanks for commenting BlondeTwiggy! I’m glad you like my work so far. Update: The Montelbaanstoren The Montelbaanstoren is one of the few pieces of Amsterdam's Medieval walls that still stands. It was a sentinel from which guards could look over the plains for attacking armies. This was often necessary, as Amsterdam was a center of wealth and power at the time, and the frequent target of jealous outsiders. It was the sea that made Amsterdam rich, and this tower guards what was once the greatest shipbuilding complex in the world. It was also a gathering place for sailors before they would go on their long voyages to far-off lands. The tower is located at a canal called Oude Schans. Today things have changed drastically. Ships are still built in the wharves here, but they're much smaller and don't go very far. Still, the Montelbaanstoren retains its historic link to the sea through its use as office space for the Amsterdam water works. It now serves as a lonely clock tower, in the heart of the city’s historic centre. It stands much as it was in 1512, when it was constructed, except for the addition of a decorative spire and clock in 1606. Rumor has it that after the clock was added, the tower garnered the nickname “Silly Jack” – Malle Jaap in Dutch – because the clock’s bells were rather unreliable and rang at strange times of the day or wouldn’t ring at all for days on end. And finally, here is the region pic as requested. I restarted the terraforming many times, in order to make it accurate. Idecided to terraform as I expand the city, as this will allow better interaction between the landscape and the urban layout. That concludes my update. Hope you liked it and please comment!
