What about when Nintendo and Sony release their games in Japanese first? They're releasing it first in France and Germany (among other places), so it should be in French and German. When the game is released in North America and Britain, we'll get an English version. Just be patient.

Bulldoze 'em, and make any R$ and R$$ that you want to keep historical. That's really the only way to keep them from getting superseded by the R$$$ houses, even if demand and desirability are low. Ditto for commercial and industry.

jasoncw: Good call, they most certainly do NOT make roofs like that...though the triangle shape on the front wall is somewhat common. So, I had a bit of a problem, which was observed by Jason and pondered over by myself as well, after I had already posted the house. Namely, it's ugly as sin. So, I tried my hand at making a different house, which at least has a realistically sloped roof. I've seen this design in my neighbourhood a bit (which is 70s as opposed to postwar) but I still think it fits in well with the style. Any comments would be appreciated, I'm not sure if this one looks any better or not.

Now, I just need to lot 'em and see what they look like ingame. That will probably be my next post. That roof was slightly less hard than the last one, but still hard.

benvoliothefirst: Yeah, it is pretty frustrating to learn. You should have seen my old thread where I was trying to figure out roof textures...but I'm not all that bothered by the fact that I'm creating a whole lot of similar houses, especially with 3 of 4 done now. I see what you're saying about the deck; maybe I'll export it as a prop and then place it on some lots but not others. Whew, over a month with no update. That's pretty brutal, though I was kinda burned out by AP exams earlier in the month. Since I've got two classes now, my schedule's not so strenuous so I should be back on the BAT horse. Anyway, here's my first draft of bungalow #3. That roof was really hard to get right.

On the Toronto note, I don't think Scarborough really has much of a business skyline, it's mostly apartment towers. North York also has a lot of apartments, but the North York Centre area is probably the closest I can think of to a second downtown in Canada, anyway. Most of our suburban "town centers" are just a collection of big box stores.

Suburbs aren't always safer. It depends on the level of urban decay, which American cities are generally worse for. In Calgary, the inner city just has a far wider range of demographics. The downtown core contains all the city's homeless shelters, but an infill house in a place like Sunnyside, Hillhurst, or Capitol Hill will set you back a pretty hefty sum. Toronto is a bit of an anomaly for North America: the core is quite affluent and while there are bad areas downtown, some of the city's most famously bad areas are near the periphery, such as Jane/Finch, Malvern, or Rexdale. In Europe, the fringes are often comprised of large, postwar housing blocks, as is the case in Paris, where the suburbs are SO bad that they've become known for riots, in places like Clichy-Sous-Bois where almost all the housing is government-owned. So, it really depends where you live. In a shrinking, American city, inner city is probably a poor choice.

This is Edwards Developments' proposal for Garrison Acres. The major road running through the neighbourhood will be fronted with condos, townhouses, and shops, as well as city service buildings (probably a school, clinic, transit, and possibly additional parks). Much of the development is single family homes, based on the small town nature of the area. The company has decided that commercial development directly facing an offramp would be quite hard to get to, and this counterproductive to the businesses. There is also a pedestrian bridge that connects the northern half of the development with the southern half. Choose Edwards Developments! Building homes for the future.

Great bullet train network! GTR's transit system is unrealistically good! That's meant in a good way, btw.
