  1. NHP Coos Bay Oregon By blade2k5

I think Skram ment Wald Port, it's north of Coos Bay. I grew up in this cr@p hole, great place to visit, terrible place to live. I am excited you did this, I was about to ask if you would be able to after seeing other oregon maps. Any chance we will see the Lakeside/Winchester bay area just North of this?

I think you are looking for ILives Reader, it is at SC4D. https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=656
  4. SC4 Crash when zooming in or out on Vista

I have XP, but was starting to have this issue. It is not the exact same, as mine did not crash every time. How much Memory do you have? The problem was getting more frequent as my plugins got larger. What I did was set the building draw speed in game to the slowest setting, and increased my memory to 4GB from 1GB. Then defragmented the hard drive thinking maybe the plugin files were scattered around the drive. Since then the only time it has crashed was when I started zooming in and out with the mouse to try and crash it on purpose, it only took a couple minutes to crash. Do you zoom with the keyboard or mouse? It would crash much more often when I used the mouse wheel to zoom out. It was not a consistent "every time I zoom out" but when my plugin folder went over 2GB, I started saving every time before changing zoom levels because it got so frequent. As of now, it has been much better, but only three days of testing isn't enough to see if it fixed (or at least helped) the crashing. Does it do it when you're in a city tile that has nothing in it, just empty space? When I am in cities that have little or no development I never had the problem, but with more growth it would get worse.
  5. New Computer

I have an AMD... but, I believe that since SC4 doesn't utilize both cores (don't qoute me, correct me if i am wrong) I would assume that getting a quad core wouldn't be any faster than a Dual core of the same GHz. My best advice when building a new system would be to spend lots of time researching the parts you are going to get. To insure the best compatibility now and for later on down the road (in case you decide to upgrade). This really applies to the Memory and Video Card(s) and if you are going to be overclocking and/or running SLI. If you are just going to run standard speeds and one video card, stick to the good brands, you will have a great reliable system.
  6. Best Maps to Build on?

I have been having a lot of fun with NHP's "Matinenda". Its got mountains to canals, all big city tiles.
  7. Copper Basin, AZ - Mohave Desert City!

Thats good stuff, the pictures and the words. Thanks for making me laugh.
  8. Crashes to desktop

mine rarely crashes... but in say a whole sunday afternoon (5-8 hours of playing) it sometimes crashes on me, but i think i cause it most the time when im using puzzle pieces. The Comp is an Athlon 64 X2 4400+, Nvidia 7800 GT video, 1GB Ram, XP Pro. I have about 2gigs worth of plugins. The key I think is to have the machine doing as little as possible when you play SC4. Disable automatic updaters and any other software that starts on startup of windows, it just takes up memory and CPU. When looking at the task manager try to get the process count as low as you can and the available memory as high as you can. There is a lot you can do when it comes to cutting back the amount of memory windows/software uses. Make sure the machine is clean inside. Most computers i get that people complain about crashing are overheating when they get put to work. If you have something that monitors temp (CPU and System) check it after booting the computer for the first time that day, after normal operation (internet, music, etc.), and during or right after your running SC4. If its substantially hotter after running the game you may want to look up the acceptable temp. level for you processor and make sure your within the limits. If it is over the limit, shut her down and take some dust-off to it and get the heat sinks cleared out.
  9. Bathurst, Oregon

like the scenery, looks like oregon. I would guess the city is on the willamette river, probably the northern end right before it runs into the columbia? Portland, basically. There isn't to many citys in oregon with that kind of density Great job i'll be looking forward to more.
  10. I need some help with upgrading RAM for my laptop

You would mean you have 1 dual core processor? That shouldn't matter, it is usually dependant on the motherboard. SC4BOY has a good point, check out corsair.com, they make it very easy.
  11. I need some help with upgrading RAM for my laptop

How many slots are available for RAM? You may have to replace the 512MB stick with a 2GB stick if only room for one. I believe that laptop came with 533 MHz PC2-4200 SODIMM, I am not positive but you will want to find out. It would be easiest to get the same speed memory because you know it will be compatible, but the PC may support 667MHZ. Sticking with the mainstream sites it’s always a good idea. Newegg, tigerdirect, CDW..... Here is a link to memory that I believe will work, but if I were you I would make positively sure before running out and buying anything some person on the net tells you too... > > http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Description=2gb+4200+sodimm&x=2&y=28>> > > If you are unsure of how to find out the details about the memory you have currently have and the expandability options calling Compaq (HP) may help. I usually figure these things out using good old Google though. If you have a lot of trouble I can help more.
