LF Serious and Meticulous Mayors for Production/Tourist Region
shadowryche replied to XuanWuUnlimited's topic in SimCity (2013) Region Games
Howdy guys, I'm looking to work on some active regions too. -
Anyone around intelligent and bored enough to write a mod for the engine, so the game could learn to utilize Dual/Quad core CPU's, SLi, and Crossfired GPU's? I'm still highly entertained with SC4 and Rush Hour, not so with that last batch of city crap games EA came out with. And it doesn't look like we're gonna get another SimCity game any time soon. And finally in reguards to DDR3 systems and their bugs that need worked out. At the shop I work at I just build a Intel Core i7 system that utilized DDR3. That fracking computer needed sets of 3 sticks of RAM to operate. One of the sticks was bad and it took me four hours to trouble shoot which one it was. Not looking forward to making a 12gb RAM system anytime soon, and we're not far off from the 24gb systems.
-
My desktops a Phenom 9850 with 8gb 1066mhz DDR2, and a pair of Radeon 4870's in crossfire. Took me fifteen minutes to install and update the game. That little widescreen trick posted here works wonderfully. Far cry from my old AMD XP 2400+ with the Radeon 9800 and a gig of RAM. I do have a dual core Intel laptop comming next week, looking forward to seeing how it runs on that.

Site looks wonderful guys, been away quite a while. I've got a new computer running Vista Ultimate 64-bit. How's SC4 running on the newer machines?

More farm land was opened up to the citizens of New Kent County in the Northwestern part. As for tree lines protecting the land from wind errossion, well certain soil treatments are in place to not only improve crop yeilds but also keep the soil kind of bound together. This helps eliminate problems with wildlife and wind from destroying property and crops. To walk across the land would be like walking across astroturf. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//NWNewKentCounty.JPG align=baseline> Such farming techniques have been in place at least two generations now. It allows for more efficient use of land above all else. Especially on Earth with a population of over 12 billion land is kind of scarce. And considering the circumstances that called for farming on Colony Five, the people had to stick with the most familiar and readily available techniques. Also I got a little carried away with Drifters Basin and Southern Cross. I'll get some closer pics tonight or tommorrow. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//DB-SRCnow.JPG align=baseline> In thirty years the population of just these two cities combined has almost reached 150,000 people. Most amazingly only a rail connection and two Avenue connections bring these two cities together with minimal congestion. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//DB-SCRoads.JPG align=baseline> As I said when I started this out, I prefer to actually go through with out any mods or special buildings. I hate making a nice region only to have it some how get corrupted and become inaccessable. Which has happened to me several times in the past using mods n such.

Its been about ten years now, and in the next picture I'll show you that the government has been busy stripmining away in Hidden Valley for that precious Uranium. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Stripmining.JPG align=baseline> Many of environmental activists aren't pleased, but it is for the greater good. Workers in the area work three months on, then three months off. In their off time they're given treatment for radiation exposure as the area is so rich in the mineral. Also a pharmaceuticals company has set up in Southern Cross. But the executives didn't want their people living in the cest pool. So lots of land was purchased and developed in neighboring Drifters Basin, and offered to their transfering employees at reasonable rates. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//DB.JPG align=baseline> This brought in about 10 - 15 thousand new citizens. I'd take picturs of Southern Cross but I avoid that cest pool at all costs. Maybe with my next entry... And finally the State Fair Grounds in Snake River Crossing has had a possitive effect on the city. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//SRCII.JPG align=baseline> Enough of a boost in residential to attract some industry to the area as well. Economically one of the strongest townships in the region now. Over all New Kent County is up to about 100,000 citizens and growing daily.

WOW! Been away a month... Had a slight problem where I found out some one was hanging around with the twins. Had surgery done to remove the intrusion, and got a staph infections. And faught with a septic infection for nearly a month. Let me review what I've done thus far, and then do some updating. I played the region a little so there are a few small updates to post. Just bare patience with me.

While visiting family in New Moscow I received some interesting news. Three large military drop ships were seen landing in the Little River valley south of Drifters Pass. Its been about 18 months since the mishap with the DNR guys down that way. Thinking maybe the military was setting up a lab or something. A week later when my holiday ended I head back home to find they've already built Route 2 from Drifters Pass to the south, where Hidden Valley is now located. They also built rail access into the township, and state that the railway will be expanding into the eastern township as well. For now Hidden Valley is being settled to contain workers, scientists, and industry for the manufacture of mining equipment. It seems that what had made the people sick in that township was the area is rich in Uranium. And the military intends to strip mine the area, or import mining equipment for a less detrimental effect on the environment. The industry there just might be for processing the Uranium, I'm not sure. Got a pic of Hidden Valley though. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Hidden%20Valley.JPG align=baseline> Also on my way back on the High Speed Rail I seen that Oak Valley had opened up some property for farming. That little town has developed nicely, but a route hasn't been built yet to connect it with Southern Cross just yet. Some of the citizens still use the rail to get to work in that hole though. There was a new rail and route built between Oak Valley and Snake River Crossing. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Oak%20Valley.JPG align=baseline>

Thanks for the remarks folks. News finally found its way back to the Snake River Valley about the 12 government employees who came down with the mysterious illness. The Cavalry II Research Facility alerted that the condition isn't caused by a disease of any type and isn't contagious. They only advised the locals to stay out of the area until Scientist from Earth Arive with in the year. It is said the 12 should make a full recovery and have been sent to Earth for treatment unavailable on Colony Five. In the mean time a Hospitol was built in Drifters Basin should any other illness arise from the region. Governor Kent was rather displeased with the news, how ever said what ever it was should cause a great economic growth for the region. Drifters Basin is taking off nicely now to. New Fire Station supporting multiple aparatus now, the new hospitol, and now Secondary Education is available. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Drifters%20Basin%20New%20FD.JPG align=baseline>https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Drifters%20Basin%20New%20Hospitol%20and%20High%20School.JPG align=baseline> The newly elected mayor in Southern Cross is being called a crackpot by much of the region. The local citizens really don't seem to care how ever. Most are glad just to get jobs once again. It seems he's opened the township to heavy industry, and has also created a mass immigration. Southern Cross now has the highest population of the region, but not many people go out of their way to visit the new city. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Southern%20Cross.JPG align=baseline> And lastly the regional farmers held a meeting, and decided to hold a annual fair. Snake River Crossing was chosen for the new Fair Grounds because is pretty much in the middle of all the existing cities. It has already provided a boost to the local economy, and is beginning to draw tourists from New Moscow and Calvary II. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//StateFairGrounds.JPG align=baseline> Thats about it for now. After news of all the heavy industry moving in next door, I'm heading down to the new shopping district in Drifters Basin to see if I can't find some type of Air Filtration System. Sure Lung Cancer is curable, still not pleasent to experience though. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//New%20Strip%20Mall.JPG align=baseline> Gotta love Grand Opening Sales!!!

BREAKING NEWS: A group of 12 from the Department of Natural Resources had to cut their six month trip short last night. The personel had been on a wildlife surveying mission along the Little River. Their expedition began three months ago out of Southern Crossing where they followed the Little River. Half way through their expedition they apparently contracted an unknown sickness and set camp. Where their field doctor attempted to treat them for 2 weeks only to see the sickness progress rapidly. At which point the doctor called in for an emergency extraction. The area approximately 8 miles south east of Drifters Basin is now under quarentee. The personnel from the Expedition are now in quarentee themselves in Cavalry II. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//New%20Kent%20County-1120169778.JPG align=baseline> Curtosy of Colonial Air Force (Rescue of Dept of Natural Resources Team) Symptoms of the 12 range simply from hair falling out to as severe as teeth falling out and legions forming on the skin. None of the doctors on Colony Five have encountered such symptoms and are frantically researching 250 years worth of medical text. Body scans do not show any type of microbe infesting the men. Until further notice there is no access to the three south eastern townships in New Kent County.

Last update for tonight, its 0430 here. With the sudden migration of farm workers to the area, and the finishing of the automobile manufacturers in Drifters Basin, the Governer gave the okay to personal fueled vehicles and the first route connecting all the cities. Which was good news for the Business Owners any way. It was getting to where they seen one busy day through out the week. Travelling by train between different towns just to shop can be expensive. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//AceRtBegin.JPG align=baseline> This stretch of Ace Route took about 2 months to finish. Initially connecting Drifters Basin and Southern Cross. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//TotalAceRt.JPG align=baseline> The final stretch of Ace Route took another three months to finish. As it took some time for the local governments to buy back the land from the recently awarded farmers. Rhumors were around that the Colonial Government awarded some farmers upwards of 60,000 Simolians per acre. Quite a bit considering most citizens don't make much more than 10,000 a year. Ace Route wasn't all great and wonderful for everyone though. Governor Kent was on Earth for a United Colonies Meeting concerning the fuel issues while Ace Route was being constructed. When she returned, she immediately wanted a tour from start to finish. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Drifters%20Basin-Dec.%2019,%20141120116134.JPG align=baseline> DRIFTERS BASIN INDUSTRIAL PARK AND ACE ROUTE ... https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Drifters%20Basin-Dec.%2030,%20141120116171.JPG align=baseline> ACE ROUTE AND DRIFTERS BASIN LANDFILL Needless to say she wasn't very pleased. To top it off Scientists are saying there is enough Uranium left to where the current fleet could hold for another five to ten years. Especially now that they're rationing flights, and hoping not to have to fly to all corners of the colonies on a regular basis. Dare say the Human Race get in another war...

Word of the first Interstellar Emergency has just arrived in Cavalry II. It seems the fleets fuel supply has become rather short. As Earth so far has been the only source of Uranium in any of the colonies. As part of the Emergency planning in place, all Colonies are required to produce their own food supplies as soon as possible. Unfortunately for Colony 5, both of the major colonies are currently just entering the Fall Season. Since New Kent County's climate was like that of Arkansas or Tennesse it was deemed that there would be land opened for farmers. Available Immediately were land lots of around 64 acres in most cases. The three most northeastern townships were used. With some of the genetically manipulated crops available it was barely 2 months before these farms were in full production. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Farmland.JPG align=baseline> Arial Photo Taken 24SEP01 Curtosy Colonial Air Defense Force The governor was pleased with how fast these farms came about, and the cities they brought with them. None of the cities yet have roads connecting them. The only means of intercity transportation is the High Speed Rail at this time. The only personal vehicles most people posses are Electric and really wouldn't make it far anyhow. The governor is hoping with in the year that a Hydrogen Automobile Plant will open in Drifters Basin, and then they will open roads between the cities. With the exception of the farmers, many of the workers here are still paying for their land rights any way.

First City Founded: Drifters Basin 10MAY01 https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Drifters%20Basin.JPG align=baseline> Drifters Basin Taken: 08JUN01 Drifters Basin is being built as hopefully the county seat. At least the governor hopes so. As the first city in the region, the first citizens will be construction crews, rail maitenence personnel, some shop keepers, and their families. Also industries are being built to facilitate manufacture of goods needed locally. Some modern construction techniques are allowed in the area so facilities should be available quickly. Fortunately Colony Five (yet to be formally named) is on a simular orbit to its sun as Earth is to its sun with only a few seconds difference. Their for the colony can easily keep on a time schedule comparable to Earth.

First off some respects and warnings. I have ADD pretty bad, and I can't guarentee my continuation on this CJ. How ever I can tell you I'm bored with the many other games I've been playing and should go a ways with this. As for respects, I used the Grenobel map off the Map Exchange of this website. Don't remember who made it, but I barely modified it. Modifications included fixing gaps in the rivers and laying trees about the area. Otherwise, I hope you guys enjoy this. I am not using any game mods or cheats in this by the way. NEW KENT COUNTY (Renisance Colony) Est. 2200 AD Breif History: New Kent County initially was just a high speed rail passage way through the central mountains of Colony Davis the 5th Earth Colony. This rail way was built to connect New Moscow and Cavalry II as this planet is only limited to one space port being a reisance colony. Initial interest in this colony derived from the Colonies Governor Kent passing through the region in 2195. Remarked the beauty and seemingly fertile lands of the area. Geologists state that the area is seismicly inactive, and the valley was formed by the Snake River System. Engineers chose the area for the High Speed Railway because of the granite rich mountains dividing the continent in half. The Snake River System was the only valley stable enough to support the railway for the 1400 mile stretch of the mountain range. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//East%20New%20Kent%20County.JPG align=baseline> Arial Photo taken 15MAR01 Eastern half of the Snake River. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//West%20New%20Kent%20County.JPG align=baseline> Arial Photo of the western region on the same day. As a renisance colony very little technology is allowed beyond what was used in the late 20th centry to mid-21st century. Many current colonies under consideration are going this route to save expense on frequent shipments from the Terran system.
