  1. First SimPeg, now SC4Devotion? :(

That'll be because Chrome had cached the DNS lookup, whereas with IE it was a fresh visit, so no caching.

WARNING - editing the hosts file can prevent you accessing the internet altogether. Be careful. Launch Notepad as an administrator. Open c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (the file may be hidden) Add these two lines to the end of the file: 142.4.14.20 sc4devotion.com 142.4.14.20 www.sc4devotion.com Save the file and restart your browser.

It's just the domain that's expired, so you can still access the site if you know the IP. If you add the following lines to your hosts file (On Windows - c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) then restart your browser, the site will be accessible. 142.4.14.20 sc4devotion.com 142.4.14.20 www.sc4devotion.com Remember to remove them once the domain is restored though.
  4. Does anyone know what the pros and cons are of compressing textures? Presumably there must have been a discussion about this somewhere but google doesn't seem to find one. Obviously uncompressed textures look better and compressed ones are smaller, but beyond that is there any difference? Does it affect performance, or does the game require compression for certain types of texture?
  5. NAM Roundabout fix

d_j_p1 - Do you have any other sidewalk mods installed? Or any mod that includes new roundabout stuff, like statues in the centre circle? Also, where did you install the files? Are there any other folders beginning with z ?
  6. NAM Roundabout fix

goopie - The game loads the plugins in alphabetical order. This patch modifies the NAM roundabouts, so it has to be loaded after the NAM. - - I'm assuming you do have the NAM installed? - You can just drag the z_roundaboutfix folder from the zip file into the plugin directory and that should work fine.
  7. NAM Roundabout fix

goopie - The fix has to be loaded after the NAM. It needs to go in the my documents\plugins\ directory, and it needs to be in a directory starting with "z", so it gets loaded last.
  8. NAM Roundabout fix

iskrem - I've not tested that one specifically, but it should work.
  9. NAM Roundabout fix

LE0 - Yes, the roundabouts will have no sidewalk when not zoned. The road roundabout keeps its centre texture because it looked silly without it, but the outside sidewalks go.
  10. NAM Roundabout fix

dmonsta19 - As far as a know there aren't any roundabouts with the SAM. LE0 - Not sure what you mean. If you mean the Maxis sidewalks then they aught to work ok.

This is a very simple fix for the 2x2 NAM roundabouts, both street and road. It removes the built-in sidewalks so that if you are using a sidewalk mod then the mod's sidewalks will show through.

    Ok how about this?
  13. Rate one image.

Hawkeye9 - Nice suburban image. Very realistic. -1 point for leaving the minimise icon in the bottom left though. So overall 8/10. art128 - Great Eastern European style image. I like the under-bridge path. I don't like the wall-to-wall building in the centre though. It doesn't seem to fit very well with the buildings on either side. Also, the lens-flare looks unrealistic, so it detracts from the image. Overall 8/10.
  14. Mass Transit

Monorail is faster than the other types of rail. (in the default settings, not sure about Z) It's supposed to appeal to the wealthier sims too, but I'm not certain this actually makes a difference in the game.

The reaction is sustained by the heat of the lasers and the compression from the magnetic field. The instant that these stop the nuclear reaction would stop and you would just get a normal explosion caused by the hot, compressed gas expanding and burning, similar to what you'd get if a gas plant blew up. There would be some release of radiation, but much less than with a fission plant meltdown.
