I live in Chicago and I recognized this building immediately. Can't wait till I see someone start working on the Prudential and the Wrigley Building next!
Forgot to say... in case ya do add it, the subway should be able to be accessed from inside the elevated rail station, similar to qbert2's lot. Not from a seperate actual subway station plopped on the lot. 8/10 for now.
Hate to dissapoint you Simdownman, Chicago has elevated rail. Chicago has mass transit stations just like this, with a parking garage, a bus terminal, and an elevated rail. The only thing missing is subway access.
Another thing about Chicago is that horizontally, it's only about 8-10 miles wide. Vertically, it is huge, about 25-30 miles running north-south. That is why the city is typically divided as North Side and Southside... Ask southsiders what they think of the cubs...
You're right.. No Des Plaines River in the western suburbs and it also looks like the North Branch of the River wants to get started but doesn't go anywhere. That other river is the Calumet Sag Channel, it runs through Palos, Crestwood, Blue Island, Calumet and Dolton.
Zeke, I did not make this map, but I am from Chicago and Chicago is pretty flat. Not until you get to the southwestern suburbs do you begin to get noticable hills. This layout does in fact resemble Chicago but I do know what you mean as far as elevation.
I give the author a thumbs up. This is a very accurate map of Chicago and it's western suburbs. Anybody not from Chicago, this map is the Southside of Chicago. I hope we can get a map of the North Side too!!!
