  1. No the recycling centre does not replace a garbage dump, but it can greatly reduce the amount of garbage sent to it - at least in my experience.
  2. Have it running in boot camp now under windows 8. Nice and smooth, although I get the flickering building issue from time to time.
  3. I had similar issue with disappearing transfers of various kinds, I have noticed it has improved a lot recently. Haven't struck the issue of slow city loads though.
  4. Flickering Buildings

I have the same issue, I changed some settings (can't recall which at the moment) and no joy.
  5. Freight Shiping

I think you'd need a 'rail' module added to the trade port to ship via rail, although I've yet to use one myself. BTW does anyone know how to ship goods between cities in a region? I take it goods used locally are local to the city and not to the region and goods are transferred city to city manually via the gift menu in region view. If goods are sent via a gift, do they end up in the destination city's trade depot, does the gift recipient city need one to receive the gift?
  6. Thanks for the tutorial(s), lots of useful tips, even if your not doing an 'electronics' city. Good stuff.
  7. Once you get your eduction up and running, try the recycling centre. The more educated your sims, the more they will recycle and the recycle centre can produce alloy, metal an plastic that can be used as inputs for manufacturing (ie at the processor plant) or can be sold on the global market. I noted a drop of in general waste once I got the thing started, the recycle centre does us a lot of space though.
  8. I'm not an expert, but I think they are used to generate income for your cities and are also used for some of the 'great works' in the region.
  9. I have it running on my 27 inch, late 2012 iMac under parallels with Windows 8. It's working great and looks fantastic. I would like to bootcamp the thing, but I only have a licence for Windows 8 which is not currently supported by Bootcamp. I'll probably go bootcamp when Mac OS 10.8.3 is released. Really looking forward to the Mac version though.
