Electricity along roads
rwtd_barbie replied to YUUU's topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
To connect powered and unpowered areas I made some simple parks in the asset editor but set their park effects to zero. They do not effect happiness when I put them in place or when I delete or move them. They are just grass with some trees. I called them "vacant lots." -
I installed this one and the COT Free Mod. They work when you start a new city or region. Almost everything is free to build or maintain. Its good if you want to play in Sandbox mode and do not want to build a specialty like the processor factory. One bug--the hospital will not stay powered. Wouldn't it have been easier to create a building that generates a lot of income instead?

There is no place to download the RCI Plop Mod

Would be awesome if it would also plop the British, French and German building sets. -
They are probably in the starting phases of making the next SimCity and are gathering info. It would also help them with other games too.

Employment - A Tale of Two Cities
rwtd_barbie replied to enchant's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I'm playing offline in a region with 5 cities and one Great Work. My cities all are between 75,000 and 175,000 in population. I tried making a very wealthy city with a poor city next to it so the $ people could come to the $$$ city and work. That did not work. What stops it is that the people have to be able to get from their homes to their jobs in the other city and back in a certain amount of time. Most cannot do it. If they live near the entrance/exit of their hometown and work at the entrance/exit of the next town over they can do it however. -
Don't want my city to die the 5.0 death!
rwtd_barbie replied to Xr3iracer's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
My cities are actually running better since the 5.0 patch, but they are only between 150,000 and 200,000 people. The best tip I found on these forums is to use the happiness map to see any buildings in red and bulldoze them before they are abandoned. Another thing I noticed is that sometimes cars u-turn in the middle of a road for no reason. It is like there is an invisible fence blocking their path. Replace that stretch of road and traffic flows again. A few of those in a city can make a big difference in traffic. -

That made the game crash worse! I set # of sims showed, special effects and shadows to low, and city detail to medium--now the game doesn't crash at all!

That worked very well. I used the draw tool with the grids turned on to help keep it straight. Thanks! One problem, the banks of the canals are sloped. Is there any way to make those flat? I tried using the flatten tool on the edges of the canals, but that didn't work. 2 posts in one year!

First, thanks for making SC4Terraformer! I saw on the some of the pics you posted nice, straight, trenhes for sunken highways. Is there anyway to make canals? I would like to make them both 1 and 2 squares wide (same width as either road or avenue).
