Ok I have three pc's, what I need to find out is which pc is better for SC4 pc one: 2.6ghz duo core windows vista 32 bit, 3gb of ram, Nvida geforce 6150se n force 430, i think its 64mb graphics card. I have SC4 installed on this already but it likes to CTD a lot with very little plugins installed. Pc two: 2.4 ghz single core widows xp 32 bit, 2.5g or ram, ati radeon xpress 200 which is 128ram for graphics card. Pc three: 2.3 ghz, windows xp 32 bit 2g of ram, intel 82945g graphics onborad card 128ram i think Given the choice of these two pc's which one is going to better for SC4?

Forgot to say I have 2g plugins with NAM, I'm going to go with pc one it has the better processor and the most ram as pc 2 is scrap the dvd player doesn't work, and the third pc my better half is going to have. Thanks Nonny

I dont have any plugins installed nor maps. If i go to C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps and look at the version installed its says 1.1.640.0 which seems to be right.. If i dont install the updates the game works fine.. what Im doing wrong? Any help on this would be great otherwise i have to live without the updates

Go to My Computer and right-click on the disk-drive you have Simcity 4 in, click OPEN. Look for SETUP and right-click then select Properties. go to COMPATIBILITY on the tabs then you have a list of check boxes. select the check box for RUN THIS PROGRAM AS ADMINISTRATOR and also select the tick box for RUN THIS PROGRAM IN COMPATIBILITY MODE FOR: "Windows XP Service pack 2" click apply and then ok. Now it SHOULD run. found this from 2007 and it seem to work never thought to try it lol and it fixed it

ok fresh install of sc4 and yep the game works without the update as expected. I install sku2 for europe version and start the game again and ctd not even install the Bat update, tbh think i will give up with the updates and play the game without them seem to be the easiest way for the moment. Not got anything else i can do it seems.

Just tried it on the old pc and got the updates and it all works great, I going to try another reinstall on the new pc and download the updates again... fingers crossed

nope sku1 the us update wont work on it, going try and install on another pc which is xp but still a fresh install so i see whats happens in 10 mins

i have tried running it on both hardware and soft same result, im going to DL sku again only for the US verison and see if it works for me. The disc says on it made in the EU.. so i guess i got it right downloading the sku2 but still going to try sku1.

I got it from GAME how do i know if the it is a US or UK version? the only thing i got to say is that the warrenty leaflet has the address for guildford in the uk.. i dont know if the installer would work on the wrong edtion, i dont think it would...

i running windows vista and the game is a new I got it at xmas (needed a new one) sorry i should have said that, i dont have any plugins nor do i have maps so its a clean start and like i said the game runs great before i do the updates but as soon i do the updates the game does a ctd and dont know why i have reinstalled the game twice and game works until i do the updates then its screws up. Im i downloading the right updates for the game been alot of years since i had to reinstall the game. I got the updates from sc4devotion sku2 and sc4 update bat.. the pc is bang up to date.

what nam have you got installed? just asking for the reason of the 5th picture has a texture under the nam off ramps but i dont have them textures under mine..

I installed a new NAM, 31.2, the game runs fine with it, but now i seem to have CTD everytime I put out a hospital, school, police or fire, it does not matter who made the bat, it will crash regardless. If I got back into the game and reload it then I can put out schools, hospital etc etc but then five minuttes later it will crash. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you.

the last pc i had only had 2g of ram and worked great never had 4g of ram on any on the pc i played sc4

this is the pc i have, i have 455g free out of 500g SC4 is the only thing i have on this pc, i have got roughly 3.5g of plugins. when i installed the game onto this pc the game automatically runs on the hardware setting, I also went to the lex to get the sku update etc. This a new pc to me, i had an old pc from where i tranferred all the plugins from, i DL the new nam and put all the plugins in startred the game and then ran into the problems here is the shortcut for sc4 I have tft panel monitor it running 1440x900 I think i have give you all the info. I ran into more problems last night where certain tiles of the region wont not load and give a ctd every time i tried to load them, i didnt have any plugins on the city tiles nor did i have any plugins in either. I hope you can help. Many thanks

what is the best pc to play sim city 4? overs the years of playing sim city 4 i have always had the same pc, sure its crashed a few times and I had to start all over again. I have a single core 2.4ghz 2 gig of ram and 1gig ati graphics card running on xp, soon I will have to get a more up to date pc. I have heard that sim city dosent like dual core, so is sim city 4 only ever going to run on single core? If I get a new quad core pc will it be worse than playing it on a single core. Many thanks

Hi I have downloaded the RVT tunnel mod and have a good look at the read me file and I have a tried to achive the tunnels from part C 7.5m road tunnels and OWR but I cant get it to work. I have BRF tunnel and slope mod in and adjusted the tunnels heights from 13.8 to 7.5, I made a file called zzRVT tunnel mod and put the following files in there RVT Avenue Tunnel - Concrete RVT Ground Highway Tunnel - Concrete RVT OneWayRoad Tunnel 7.5m - Concrete RVT Rail Tunnel - DTR Entrance - Concrete RVT Rail Tunnel - STR Entrance - Concrete RVT Raised Highway Tunnel - Concrete RVT Road Tunnel 7.5m - Concrete Utils_RVT_STR_Tunnel_1b88eb8a.SC4Lot Is this correct I have tried taking the BRF tunnel and slope mod out and just used the extra Exemplar files but still i get the same problem.. Can anyone see the problem Any advice on how to fix this would be great. Wayne

Thank you so much It is working now, but the only way i can get it to work is by taking the zzz2_Euro_Textures.dat out altogether. I tried to rename RVT RoadTunnel 7,5m.dat to zzz3_RVT RoadTunnel 7,5m.dat but that doesnt work, sorry to be a pain but how do I get RVT RoadTunnel 7,5m.dat to load after zzz2_Euro_Textures.dat. file. thanks for coming back to me , I have looked over and over at the read me file and still cannot see where im going wrong, even downloaded tunnel mod and slope mod again just in case and still cant get the road tunnels to work at 7.5m. Iam sure there is a simple thing that im missing or not doing....

Anyone got any ideas of fixing this??

Hi I had downloaded Cam and installed my 1st industrail lot Alkaline Inc Northwest Works Coal Washer and got all the dependencies for the file, but it seems i cant get it to work for me. I cant figue this one out and I need a fresh pair of eyes to look for me, any help would be greatful Many thanks
