Frustrated with the no job icon bug
Mister Giggles replied to toxic1456's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
If you've installed NAM, then if the jobs exists your R$$$ sims WILL find them (With enough subways). Time to crack out the Census Repository Mod. Look at the Drives number for R$$$ sims. Is this number lower than the number of R$$$ sims actually in the city? Then the city simply doesn't have the jobs necessary to support them. Time to start adding more jobs. -
Mayor Rating/City Opinion issue
Mister Giggles replied to nathanthemayor's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Occasionally, certain customs lots become immortal. When a beneficial lot goes immortal, such as a park or landmark, it is possible for the now immortal lot to drastically injure mayor rating. I can only suspect bad lotting of this sort is rare, as I've only ever encountered it with lot, but it is a possible answer as to why your mayor rating is for no reason going to Hell. The only thing to do is go along your new highway and check for any landmarks or parks that a) disappeared or b) cannot be bulldozed by themselves. -
How does this work, Nonny? Do I have to run the game through a program they have me download (Like Steam, Origin, Impulse, etc)? Do I get a "ticket" that I use with some other program or service? Do I download installation files that I can put in my archives and never have to worry about? Is it something where I have to download the game from their servers each time I wish to reinstall?

[need help] I download sim city 4 deluxe in torrent but there is a problem
Mister Giggles replied to ILYOU's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Ah good, the thread hasn't been locked yet. Just wanted to pop in and say you gave me a hearty laugh, ILYOU. Most people (I hope) read the rules or (I hope) have the common sense necessary to avoid boldly saying they stole a game on what appears to a reputable fansite. As has been stated multiple times, the site doesn't support pirated versions of the game. First and foremost, it's a dick move to steal a perfectly good game that, as also mentioned, can be had for 5 bucks. Secondly, it's illegal. It doesn't matter if your previous copies burst into flames, that does not entitle you to bend the law and suck down some torrent. Third, God knows what kind of hacks/cracks/shortcuts the torrent used, making it impossible to support even if the prior two issues didn't exist. -
Speculation & Discussion
Mister Giggles replied to waybig's topic in SimCity (2013) Modding - Open Discussion
I understand. But the game is still in pre - alpha right now. Haha, I was being sarcastic. Can't even be sure that kind of modding will be possible. -

Mbm wants us to plan ahead. -
The dependency list linked to BSC MEGA Props JRJ Vol01 instead of BSCMegaProps JES Vol01. This should take care of the issue.

...I apologize, I did not make myself clear. Perhaps I need to bold more words. I'll go ahead and do that while quoting the following sentences: An underline, designed as blatant emphasis, also snuck its way into the quote. Strange, that.

An Aha! Moment in CTDs.
Mister Giggles replied to A Nonny Moose's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
I think Nonny would commit sepukku before switching to Windows. -
1: Have you read thread? 2: Have you downloaded 3: If the answer to 2 is "yes" and the answer to 1 is "no", you should read 1. If the answer to both is "yes", post a screenshot of the problem. If the answer to both is "no", read 1 and post a screenshot of the problem. 4: If you post a screenshot, also link to the BAT you downloaded. Apologies for the generic solution, but I don't have a wealth of detail to work with. 1 and 2 might be going in the wrong direction, but again, lack of workable details.

That's a fantastic discovery, kinda lulzy too since it happens for literally no good reason. Can we stop the crash from happening using this information? -
Problems with naming custom content in-game...
Mister Giggles replied to Roardle's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Having once again checked the custom building whose name I had changed, I find that it remains what I changed it to. Proceeding to do experiments, I plopped a few buildings, changed their names, and reloaded the city to see what happened. I have found that this name-changing behavior behavior is inconsistent, leading me to believe it's a bug. Download and plop and Milwaukee Book Club. Change their names. Exit and re-enter the city. The former reverts, the latter does not. Some buildings, and it doesn't matter what type, exhibit the behavior. It seems arbitrary and random which lots have the bug and which do not. Roadtop Mass Transit lots do not seem affected by the bug, so Roardle might consider downloading it... It may be possible, furthermore, for the bug to change its nature depending on the city itself. I plopped all of the above lots on a small, mostly empty tile. -
Problems with naming custom content in-game...
Mister Giggles replied to Roardle's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
While I was fairly sure resetting custom building names was not normal, I could not remember clearly. After changing a custom building's name, resetting the computer (To flush anything that may reside in memory), reloading the game and checking the custom building, I can say that the game does indeed save custom names. I'm not sure what would be the cause... -
Wow! Great work! I really like it! Where did you find that Burger King in the 2nd picture, top right?
Took a while, but here. -

You're really putting the NAM to work in this one, with those roundabouts. Way more imaginative than what I do. Question: What's the big green building in this picture? -
Oops, scratch that. Instance b2350009 in RT_Sandia_Mini_Dealership.dat is the automata file for the red cooper with the UK flag. You can exorcise this demon using Simply open the .dat file, find instance b2350009 and remove it. Save the .dat and you're done! And thanks again for linking me to the dealership!

What is a Scadia Mini? A car? A plane? A truck? Google brings up nothing useful. Perhaps you meant Scandia? Did it come in a pack with other automata? If so, can you name a few of them?

Weird graphics stuff (missing textures, and I don't know what caused it)
Mister Giggles replied to LivingInThePast's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?PHPSESSID=c030bd5cdf5180d679a580ebe318f6a3&page=6 Read and accept the terms. The patch you want is likely for Rush Hour/Deluxe. Read carefully; there are different versions of the patch depending on the game's localization. -
Weird graphics stuff (missing textures, and I don't know what caused it)
Mister Giggles replied to LivingInThePast's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Go to Graphics Options, and set City Details to High...along with any others that are currently set to Low. The 1.1.638.0 patch is the cause, if you're wondering. -
Very neon. The colours are way too bright, the textures are flat, and the roof is barren. The model seems fine, but it's not helped by being dressed in poor textures. The lot takes up way too much real estate with far too little going on to legitimize the land usage. You may consider opening up a thread on the forums to get ideas for improvement, for certainly some room exists for it. Check out some lots by Mattb325 for inspiration; You'll notice he keeps things interesting and varied, breaking up the visual patterns. There's potential here for a great building, but not enough sweat has poured from your brow yet...

anyone know anything about washers?

anyone know anything about washers?
Mister Giggles replied to Easy Bakes's topic in General Off-Topic
That looks like mold. If it is, it's probably >everywhere< inside your washing machine and thus there is absolutely no saving it. The only logical option is to have a new one installed. Investing in a dehumidifier would be a good idea, as well. -
Cities Crashing at Certain In-game Dates
Mister Giggles replied to Patricius Maximus's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
According to the logic you used ("The plugin theory seems dubious"), vanilla SC4 has a building that's resulting in a crash when it grows. Except vanilla SC4 contains no buildings that result in crashes unless, of course, one of the .dat files broke. One of your plugins is almost certainly causing the crash, and it's one of the older ones based on what you've done so far. Any problems with grown buildings, depending on how you zone, can be sporadic to very rare; this doesn't mean the problems don't exist. The crashes will start again somewhere down the line. I'm afraid all you've done is taken care of the symptom, not the disease. -
Where can I get BAT and/or GMax?
Mister Giggles replied to SpeedyStone's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Déjà vu. You need to add an environment variable to 7 in order for GMAX to properly function. Here's how you do it: Start Button -> Search for "Environment" -> Edit environment variables for your account -> New -> Add "GMAXLOC" to the top line -> Add location of Gmax to the bottom line -> Click OK -
Cities Crashing at Certain In-game Dates
Mister Giggles replied to Patricius Maximus's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Off the top of my head, a malformed LUA script is attempting to do something on that date and is resulting in a crash. It would be best if you could remember all the plugins you added since between the time that date worked properly and now and start removing them to check if they're responsible. If that doesn't work out, you'll want to look for recently grown/plopped buildings and demolish them. If that fails, you'll need to do in an attempt to find the plugin responsible for the crash. That's a messy option, though, since your city is already-developed. Just don't save. <_< It's also possible something is deciding to grow on that day, and because it was poorly made, it's causing the game to puke all over itself. The above techniques will find it, too. If you find the plugin responsible, link to it. If it's on the STEX, it can be updated/removed. If it's hosted elsewhere, as least we know it causes problems.
