Lafayette is a city located at the edge of Topeka County. It has a distinct skyline that dwarfs that of the city of Topeka.

The city itself is very desirable among affluent Sims who seek the high life, with its many department stores and palm tree graced boulevards. Real estate has seen a sore upwards unlike the rest of Topeka County due to two of the county's best prep schools in the surrounding areas.

9 months ago, Topeka and the surrounding areas were devastated by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake that left many of the 19th Century buildings breached and condemned. Many local businesses shut down because of the lack of tourist industry in the area and consequently residents left the area.

After years of planning the brand new community of Forrest Glade is being built. Homes range from $205,000 to over $900,000. The highly anticipated building work has seen mostly praise from local Sims as it will benefit surrounding communities with the proposed Glade Mall that will be completed fall 2011.

Local contractors have been hired to carry out the work as this will help boost the local economy. The county lost one of its biggest companies in 2009, "Gannusi Wireless" as its headquarters moved to Lexington, Kentucky.

Topeka residents have become sick and tired of the transportation networks. Statistics show that the number of people killed or injured through "T-Bone" collisions or other types of accidents at intersections, had doubled since 1988!

From this, "TCDOT" (Topeka County Department of Transportation) has spoken with the mayor of Topeka, and on February 18th 2009 a new ordinance was enacted that proposed half of all intersections were to be investigated. 3 weeks later, plans were drawn and a few intersections were converted to traffic circles.

Downtown Topeka may not be the biggest downtown in the country but its one of the most diverse, with buildings dating back to the late 1890s. Large multi-million dollar cell phone companies such as "Gannusi" and "Lexip" all began here, and the corporate headquarters for "Lexip" are still located within Topeka's boundaries.
