Update 42 - Henne Park - North 32nd Street (Purple Line 6) The southwest area of Henne Park is more urban and dense around North 32nd Street. Traveling above the street is the elevated rail line WTAM Purple Line 6. Police and Fire Stations on 32nd Street between Warnimont Avenue and Brown Street. I'm a little disappointed with my update here. I need to really label more buildings especially police and fire houses, but I really didn't plan ahead on that. As always, finding new things to make the journal...

Update 43 - Wellington Park Neighborhood Wellington Park Neighborhood is on the south side of Brittany River currently encompassing the area between South Ogden Avenue (N20), West Baltimore Avenue (D10), South 72nd Street (D31), and West Lucas Road. The area is serviced by two WTAM lines - Green Line 4 and Purple Line 6. Next time we'll check out Wellington Park itself. A little bit of a teaser in the region photo. You can see some of my projects to the south along the Penelope River. Check out the...

Update 41 - Trinity Boulevard Today we will tour the area around Broadway Avenue, Orchard Avenue, and Trinity Boulevard. This area is a pocket of low-density housing between higher density housing and businesses to the east, west, and south. The area is serviced by Line 5 Orange of the WTAM with a station at the corner of Orchard and Trinity, and the nearby Line 3 Yellow along Clement Avenue and the transfer station at the intersection of Orchard and Clement. There are also Line 3 Yellow stops at Townshend...

Update 39 - Rutland - West Orchard and North Clement Today we'll overview the neighborhood around West Orchard Avenue (District Highway 42) and North Clement Avenue (District Highway 29). First up is a mosaic starting from Lookout Park on West Vine Street and North 14th Street down to around West Hubbard Street and North 6th Street. Now a little trip westbound on West Orchard Avenue. The setting sun glares off the sign for Stan's Bowling Alley on the corner of Orchard and 8th. A few restaurants, shops, and...

Update 40 - Henne Park Medical Center Today we will see the area around North 32nd Street and West Townshend Avenue. Right on the northeast corner is Henne Park Medical Center. The area many years ago as farmland. Townshend and 32nd did not even exist except as property lines. Peach Park is located on the northwest corner of 34th and Chambers. Maria Elementary School and Maria Public Library just north of Henne Park Medical Center. St. Peter's Catholic Parish and School just south of Henne Park. Well again...

Update 38 - Rutland - North 8th Street and Rutland High Today we move over a 1/2 mile to North 8th Street (National Highway 45 formerly District Highway 15). 8th Street has serves as a central artery right through the core of Martin and the downtown. Originally designated District Highway 15, D15's northern terminus is now the intersection of North 8th Street and North Clement Ave (D29). At this point N45 switches from Clement Avenue to 8th Street. The District of Wenzel Street Map still has traces of the...

Update 37 - Rutland - North Harrison Avenue Well I said the next update was in the works and here it is! Welcome to Rutland, the name was around from early on and was not influenced by and did not influence the rundown nature of this area just north of Downtown Martin. To say the least, the area is in a little bit of a "rut". As you will see, there are many low income houses and many abandoned lots. Today we will focus on North Harrison Avenue (er,I mean Road, I mislabeled the title of this update!!!!)....

Update 36 - Introducing the National Highway System This is not a full update with SimCity pictures, but it is an alert that I have uploaded and updated a bunch of maps to the District of Wenzel Street Map. On the map you will see two new highways designated N45 and N20. These are part of the new National Highway System. The National Highway System sign is an inverted triangle outlined in dark blue with the highway number in the top section of the sign followed by "WNHS" standing for Wenzel National...

Update 29 - Highland and Southall Neighborhoods Welcome to the area south of Brittany River (Highland Neighborhood) and the area southwest of Downtown and West Town (Southall Neighborhood). Update 35 - South Martin - Martin Hohler R.R. and Haydn Avenue Here is some more of South Martin. I didn't really do much more developing of the Martin Metro area, but I've been playing around a little bit with RHW and building up some other small towns a few miles out. I've also been doing a lot of looking at old maps of developing Milwaukee and noting the road system before freeways, all in anticipation of introducing expressways in some capacity to the region! So for now, more views of South Martin...

Update 34 - South Martin - McHenry Park and Lafayette School Today we travel to an interesting section of the District, the city of South Martin. Originally just a town at the crossroads of D34, D230, and D140, South Martin has expanded and now encompasses the area south of Hohler Ave and north of the Penelope River. A western boundary has yet to be determined and the city of Martin is racing to annex land so as not to be cut off from the Penelope River by South Martin and Hawthorne. This update has...

Workshops, a grocery store, and a gas station now sit at the intersection on North 40th Street and West Marshall Ave. Duffy Park on the corner of West Marshall Avenue and North 48th Street. Sawyer Avenue Elementary School at the corner of West Sawyer Avenue and North 42nd Street. 48th Street and Brittany River Highway Line 6 Purple WTAM Station...

Update 32 - Garfield Park and Portland Creek Vicinity This update is a little scattered though most of it focuses on North 40th Street and West Washington Avenue. The mosaics cover a few neighborhoods - Garfield Park (around 40th and Washington), Marshall Peninsula (area between the Brittany River and Portland Creek), and Washburn (west of 48th and north of Washington). I will have future updates focusing more on each of these neighborhoods individually, but for now, enjoy some great overviews. Night view...

What do you think? I have more mosaics and...

Update 28 - Downtown Martin - Grand Avenue Here are some more views of Downtown Martin around North Grand Ave and Bitter Creek. I screwed up on these next two mosaics, it really should just be one large large one, as you can see, doh. Check out the District of Wenzel Street Map to get an idea where we are and to see the Metro Lines. I lied again, I didn't include a region shot!!! Thanks for following.

Update 27 - Downtown Martin - West Town Sorry for the long delay! This is my first update in four months. Since the last update, I have had to completely rebuild the West Town tile which had been plagued with Prop Pox. Well the tile is rebuilt, the map complete, and here is the first in a series of updates of Downtown Martin/West Town. I included labels for a few of the Wenzel Transit Authority Metro stations. I didn't label all of them I noticed. At the bottom of this mosaic is the government center of...

Update 25 - City of Jefferson - Growth As you have all probably seen in the street map of the District of Wenzel, Jefferson is a small community north of Martin on D15. My expansion of Martin is getting near overtaking the small community of Jefferson, so I decided to expand this soon to be suburb and give it it's own identity and downtown. SThe small farming community of Jefferson on D15.S S S SNew Industries along the Martin Custer RailroadS S SNewberg's Creek runs between Jefferson and Martin Municipal...

Update 26 - Near South Side: Wisconsin and Oklahoma Today we will go to the Near South Side, south of downtown Martin along the shore. In this update we will look at the area around the intersection of S Wisconsin Ave (D29) and E Oklahoma Ave. Check out the District of Wenzel Street Map for reference. ABOVE: The intersection of Oklahoma and Wisconsin many years before development. The rail line splits here with one line going west to Hohler, while the older line continues south where it will later split...

Update 24 - Martin Municipal Airport A long needed update to the District of Wenzel. Finally an airport for the burgeoning region and the city of Martin (population as of this update of about 360,000). The city definitely needs an airport, but I didn't want to build a huge international airport, yet. So, here is Martin Municipal Airport, placed in a triangle of land between Oliver Rd, D15, and Martin Rd, north of Jefferson. I built three runways because this airport, while small, still services a growing...

Update 23 - Redeveloped Peninsular Downtown This update has been in the works for awhile. Finally a new view of downtown Martin. I redeveloped the street layout and the buildings have grown considerably taller. D50 originally ran along E Main St to the docks on the east end of the peninsula. Now D50 has been redirected on E Mitchell Ave which becomes a boulevard after the intersection with D29 (N Wisconsin Ave). The downtown peninsula is now serviced by three Wenzel Transit Authority Metro lines -...

In between N Humboldt Ave, Lincoln Terraces, and N Prospect Ave is Olivet Cemetery. E Townshend Ave is the neighborhood's commercial district. Above: Farmland many years before the encroaching expansion of Martin. Below: High-tech industry between the neighborhood, cemetery, and park. Townshend Station (WTA Metro - Red Line) at the...

Update 21 - North Sedgwick Avenue Now we move west to see the area around N Sedgwick Ave. D42 runs along N Sedgwick Ave between E Orchard Ave and E North Ave. I don't have much of a backstory for this. I'm kind of distracted. Go Green Bay Packers! Super Bowl XLV!!! District of Wenzel Street Map Whoops, forgot the border...I'll fix that tomorrow. Nice night view of Orchard Creek and surrounding areas. Orchard Creek during the day. Future updates will focus on Orchard Creek Parkway north of Orchard...

Update 20 - Lincoln Terraces and River Bluffs Continued A few more pictures from Lincoln Terraces and River Bluffs. I didn't initially plan this as a lazy update, but it worked out well since I didn't have much time this last week, since I was getting ready to leave China. Luckily, I put this update together last week at the same time I made the other update. Above: River Bluffs Mosaic of Lincoln Terraces and River Bluffs down to Honey Creek. Close-ups of Lincoln Terraces. N Prospect Ave apartments....

Update 19 - Near East Side - Lincoln Terraces and River Bluffs We move to the east side of Ivanhoe Park and view Lincoln Terraces and River Bluffs, more upscale neighborhoods. Hills prove a little problematic in SimCity 4, but they also offer great opportunities for different looks. Above is a very scenic view of the intersection of Orchard Rd and the future N Prospect Ave and farms along the sloping ground. Below: Here is a picture of Ivanhoe Park before I added all the recreational facilities, etc. E...

Update 18 - Near East Side - Ivanhoe Terraces Sorry for being late a day on the update. The girlfriend and I went to Shanghai and I didn't have a chance in the little bit of free time with shoddy internet to upload the update, but I'm really excited to get it up now. We move kitty-corner from Cramer Neighborhood, north of E Sherman Ave and west of N Webster Ave to Ivanhoe Terraces. The neighborhood is bordered to the west by Orchard Creek, to the south by E Sherman Ave, to the east by N Webster Ave, and...
