TOKYO 4.0 - The Roads: Update #4

tokyo1275221275.png

As you can see, I have made massive progress in the construction of roads.

However, I will come across problems, to the north. Specifically Ikebukuro Station.

I will have to rearrange the city tiles to recreate Ikebukuro in one city tile, otherwise I will end up with the west part of Ikebukuro station in one city tile and the east part in another, which will be a shame because its such an important station.

However, I have no idea how to do this. If anybody has any suggestions please let me know.

Another solution is I could simply place Ikebukuro station about 20 tiles off the mark. However, that would place buildings like SunShine in a different tile from the station, which would also be a shame.

Here's the problem...

Above: The red dot is where Ikebukuro Station should be. The yellow line represents the city tile border. As you can see Ikebukuro station just happened to locate itself right smack in between two city tiles.

If anyone has any suggestions let me know. Thank you all for watching this CJ.

Here's a little region shot for those of you wanting to see some building action.

I'm not an expert, but why don’t u try to rearrange the tiles of your city. My idea is to move the upper row to the right of the picture, so that the station fits in the middle of the tile. I really don’t know Tokyo, never been there, but I love the CJ. I use sc4stupmngr (the program) to rearrange my tiles in the region, but it’s a fussy job.

Well i would say forget about it and focus on other parts of Tokyo but i know you probably want to include it but i'm not sure how you'd do it without placing it in a different position or rebuilding lots

Could you lot the station into two peices then place them correctly? When showing in the CJ just combine the two pictues In a sort of mosaic and voila! this could also be tricky and I would say jolly_rogers idea is a good one too. Good luck with it! I must say that luck just sucks!

You may be able to make the station on both city tiles, then just use photoshop to make it apear as one tile.

Sorry, don't have much else to say.

Thank you everybody. I discovered a solution!

I will show the results in a later update.

I took into account Jolly_Rogers post, and I got the idea of rearranging the tiles by fitting in medium size city tiles in between the large ones, thereby shifting the entire upper row of large city tiles by one medium size city tile.
This has worked quite well, although I would have to sacrifice the area I finished above Shinjuku.
I have also decided to redo the areas to the West (left) in a similar fashion, because I believe the city would be more function if I could get the Chuo line, not in the upper area of the city tile, but right in the middle. So the only areas left are the Shinjuku Ward and Shibuya Wards, but those are really the only areas I've put a lot of effort into, so I'm not feeling too bad about it.

I briefly contemplated the ideas by Jamonbread and  _marsh_ but I figured the station may look asthetically pleasing after photoshop, but it would not function properly, which is part of my fun playing the game.
Also I'm not very good with photoshop anyways, orz.

But thank you all for posting suggestions, they have been extremely helpful.

I will post an update soon.

That region view amazes me...

Heh, I've had plenty of times where I had to combine pictures from two city tiles.  If that is too hard, you may want to make an exception for accuracy and move the station a little so it's completely within one tile.
