The Next Day...

They were on their way. To what? They didn't know. Could be anything. When it comes to corporate secrets, nothing is known, and everything is deadly. In the car, a conversation took place.

Tessa: Where are we going to start?

???: Downtown.

Tessa: Have any ideas where? Specifically.

???: We've been assigned Downtown.

Tessa: Not much of a talker are you.

???: Look kid, you may be the Chancellor daughter, but you have no idea what you're getting yourself into. I've been with the military for 18 years, the past 9 of those were in Special Tasks Group. I've seen a lot of things in my days, considerably more than what happened in the capital. I'm not here to talk to you, I'm not here to like you. I'm here to investigate a matter of national security and to be your bodyguard...unfortunately.

Tessa felt her anger start to boil as he said those words to her. But she learned to calm herself, keep her anger for the ones who rightfully deserved it. The traitors.

Tessa: Fine. At least tell me your name and rank, if you even have one, secret man.

Likisy: STG Specialist, A. Likisy. You can call me sir.

Tessa: On the contrary, as daughter of the Chancellor, you are honored to refer to me as Ma'am. Got it?

???: Don't let him get to you ma'am.

Tessa: Don't worry Lez, I wont.

Lez: We're nearing our destination ma'am. Have any questions?

Tessa: Yes, were are we headed again?

Lez: Downtown New Lynais City. It's one of the metros on the southern coastline, big place for big business. However I wouldn't reccomend living and working there, unless you know what you're doing. A lot of secrets in that city, secrets that make people disappear. We're gonna have to be careful.

Tessa: What kinds of secrets are we talking about?

Lez: Corporate ones. The government knows theres corruption down here, but theres never enough evidence to do something about it. They always get off easy.

Likisy: Enough chat, we're here.

Lez: Not yet, this is the old city. New Lynais is just across the harbor.

The unmarked car glided along the highway onramp and then came onto the bridge, flying straight across the clear waters below. Far across the harbor to their left were several cruise ships docked, to the right, open sea. Ahead of them, tall skyscrapers loomed in the distance. The skyline was amazing. Above Tessa could hear the thump of rotor blades, but Lez didnt even look up when she noticed it.

Lez: Looks like we've got eyes in the sky already.

Lez: Once we get into the city, there will be a safehouse waiting for us in Amendment Plaza, near the city center. From there, we'll conduct our operations. Be careful though. Walk down the wrong alley or walk into the wrong club and things can go sour quick.
