From Zero 2 SKYLINES

So here we go. From Zero 2 SKYLINES will be my second city journal. The first one has been made decades ago, over at sc4devotion, iirc. Over the years, and mostly because of switching to Linux on my personal PC, I abandoned my old SC4 installation under Windows, as at first I discovered it to be a hassle to manage custom plugins running SC4 on STEAM under Linux. But, as a matter of fact, SC4 never lost it's grip on me. Finally, some weeks ago, I managed to work out a proper way for managing all the custom content under Linux. Thankfully to the SC4 crowd, all of the important tools are already available under Linux. I'm still at the beginning of building up my once huuuuuuge plugin folder, and it was very sad to read of the SC4Devotion desaster.

However, I'm now back and will try to update this CJ regularly. For the beginning, I started with a small island (out of a huge region I wan't to develope). Having said all that, "Chapter 1: A new begining" has a double meaning indeed. First, it's the first populated map tile of my region. Second, it stands for me starting over again with this wonderful, never-aging game.

But enough said, please enjoy my CJ!

Nice work, it's always great to see some new city journals around here. Keep up the good work Buddy ;)

Btw: I really like that small island with that beautiful lighthouse, I'd consider adding a terrain mod with better grass and water textures, this would make your final scenes look even better.

You can check the following thread for more information; (Thanks Cori):

Great link, thank you. I remeber having a terrain and water mod installed back then .. will have a look for that. Expect my next update to reflect these changes :-)

I'm possibly doing something wrong, but the watr mods look strange. Take for example this one (Joergs Water Mod 2 Emerald isles) looks like this, compared to what it should look like67478ffe33a03_Bildschirmfotovom2024-11-2722-30-04.png.4d468be78882acc7534d0350df315949.png

That certainly is weird. It's like something is changing the smooth gradient transition of the water color to just a few blocky steps. Even at the minimum color depth of 16-bit that shouldn't be happening. I have no idea what to suggest.

Yes, it looks weird. Its also important to take into account that, if I am not wrong that's quite an old water mod. If you want something similar but with a higher quality, I'd recommend getting VIP terrain mod. You can find it within the link above, it's one of the options. I think that terrain mod will fit perfectly fine in your region.

While true it was created in 2003, it displays fine for me in a test I did today. The last pic in their post is a copy from my Water Shoppe where it was also fine a few years ago.

I suspect there is some sort of graphic glitch like it's displaying as 8-bit color or something.

Yes, you are right. It may be some graphic glitch or something similar. I will try to test it later Today.

Thanks Cori, as always 😉
