3. Tourism?

The town continues to expand towards the mountains. After Castle Terrace, there is a new expansion towards the south-west mountain slope. This area overlooks the Rosewood Baseball Park.  Any plot of flat land, or slope gentle enough to use, are being studied, selected and developed into residential zones one by one.

At this rate, the mountains surrounding Rosewood will likely be filled with new buildings within a few years.

This whole city expansion scheme aims at providing more residential zones to increase population, hence improve the forestry area's efficiency and gain more profit. Sunrise Summit, as mentioned in the last entry, was picked as one of the potential sites for new town, but was later ditched due to its long distance from Rosewood. As it turns out, the dirt road that leads to the summit attracted another kind of visitors - tourists.

Sunrise Summit is a remote location, but its proximity to nature and exclusiveness attracted the attention of tourists from nearby cities. The opening of eastern highway opens up a new transportation route and tourists begin coming in to stay on the mountain. Development companies began constructing mountain huts and villas on Sunrise Summit, and start bringing in alternative profit to the city. 6665ba43bcbcb_photo3.jpg.7b2e8d32d16ca2b0e46bedea76795c59.jpg

The development on Sunrise Summit soon caught the attention of Rosewood's citizens. Even the bus operator started a new line to link up Sunrise Summit with Rosewood. The city also begin to have taxi running in its streets. As a result, the town of Rosewood also received some tourists - they came here to enjoy the old town vibe. New hostels are mushrooming all around the town for tourists who wanted to stay. For instance, the light blue block to the right of Rosewood City Hall is a brand new hostel.

The city council did not expect the rise of tourism, as their original plan is focused more on forestry. They even invested in upgrading the city's power source, by replacing the geothermal plant with a nuclear power station. This is to cater for the high power demand in the future.

While tourism do bring in extra profits, it is still in its infancy and do not contribute much to the economy, yet. The number of tourists is a bit over a hundred per week only. The city's expansion and the original plan to expand the forestry industry shall continue.
