Quick update on Anclaje
Welcome to a new format: Quick Updates, for new features in towns already featured in this guide.
Anclaje was the very first city featured in this journal and, as such, it has experienced the most transformation. From changing flora to growing over the nearby hills, the city has expanded in size and scope.
From the very start, Anclaje featured Highway 3, a link from its downtown core to its upvalley neighbour to the north. H3 cut through some of the most important neighbourhoods and was, to put it mildly, a eyesore.
It also took up a substantial amount of land, so much so that it could be feasibly replaced by an 8-lane avenue without losing much ground.
The starting point: the intersection of Highways 3 and 2
Nevertheless, some clearing was necessary. This provided an opportunity to upgrade old El Valle rail station with something worthy of a city anchoring a 3-million-people metro area.

And here's a couple more pictures, including the final result.

The end result: Avenida de los Laureles (Laurel Avenue), the Anclaje River and the rest of the city
Regularly-scheduled city features will return… soon.
