Over the next two updates, we're returning to Quebec and taking a look at a few of the province's most beautiful sights and landmarks. The tour begins with a look at Downtown Montréal - the CBD of Quebec's largest city and the second largest city in the country. After Paris, it's the largest primarily French-speaking city in the world. Since it's founding as a small colony on Montréal Island back in 1642, it's transformed into an international metropolis ever since. Montreal is also home to an impressive skyline - seen here from above over the next three shots in the middle of winter, during a typical summer day, and at nighttime - which is when downtown Montreal really comes to life.

Montreal's (and Quebec's) tallest building is the distinctive 1250 René-Lévesque - formerly known as the IBM-Marathon Tower. Known for it's post-modern facade, this 756 foot tall skyscraper was based on Frankfurt's Westend Tower and completed in 1992 as the city's tallest skyscraper, a distinction that it still holds today.

Place Ville Marie is a large office and shopping complex in downtown Montreal, comprising four office buildings and an underground shopping plaza. The main building, 1 Place Ville Marie, was built in the International style in 1962 as the headquarters for the RBC, which it still is presently.

We'll conclude with an aerial overview of Downtown Montreal, Montreal Island, and the surrounding landscapes around the St. Lawrence River in the middle of Winter.
