Heeeeelllooooooo everybody ! :ducky:

Krongans is back!

This post takes place in 1935, as you can see it developped a lot since the last post (1925).

Some new skyscrapers appeared, some are American banks, Krongans banks, English banks, but also construction and energy companies, as well as the Krongans National Petroleum Company (KNPC).

Simon left his Governor function, not because he reached the maximum numbers of mandates (3) -he actually modified the constitution to do a fourth one-, but because he died from a heart attack at 66 years old (1865-1931).

Guess who took his place ? ... his son !!!

Yes, Jean Simon, who was born in 1890, quickly became the official assistant of his dad, who taught him all the secrets for being a good (or not) Governor.

That's the most logical thing that he presents himself to replace his dad at the exceptional elections of 1931.

His mandate will last until 1940, as elections are every new decades.

Anyway, let's go back to the city itself, it kept growing since the last update, but as being a perfect mix between North America and Europe, and being connected as well to these countries, Krongans is now also suffering from the crisis that started in 1929.

The effects started in 1930, when the American banks present in the Falklands decided to stop their activities for few months, until the end of the year, when they just re-opened their agencies and offices, but still not provide any loans to the Krongans population...

But the worst case was with the Krongans National Bank, which almost went to bankruptcy, after having speculated on Wall Street almost 60% of his customers' money, following advices of other American banks...

The Krongans Government didn't have the choice, as the Krongans National Bank was the main bank in activity in the Falklands, it compensate 40% of its losses, increased the sovereign debt of 30%, and became the new owner the bank.

To finance this huge spent, the new Governor decided to raise the taxes, but mostly on the population, and the small companies, considering that the big companies were already in enough troubles because of the crisis. Worse ! The banks were exonerated of taxes from 1931 to 1934, to help them to recover...

Half of the population is now getting poorer and poorer each year, the unemployment rate is about 30%, and the money allowed to the national services (as security, firemen, education, hospitals...) is also reduced every year. Some slums even started to appear at the periphery of the city.

That's the situation of Krongans in 1935.

I now let you admire the pictures of Krongans City, and Mid-Krongans.

Well done! I don't see any buildings that look misplace - looks very much like a mid-30's city with all those art-deco classics.
