Central city district part III: Tranquility Cove...

As we move west and north from the East Esplanade the waterfront greenway continues and we begin to see the first skyscrapers and mid-rise commercial and residential towers that makeup a large portion of the central district of Vista Del Mar.

Note: I do take a measure of pride in growing as many buildings as I can, so as we move closer to the CBD and the city's most prominent buildings I'll feature pics of the growth patterns for those interested. I'd say my percentage of growth overall is about 80-85%. This is one for this entry:

A couple residential and commercial highrises occupy the area (not considered part of the CBD area though)

Second interchange that allows commuters coming from various directions to move west toward the central business district...

Note: I stick with standard interchanges to maximize space available and to enable me to avoid trouble with slope modifications...not to mention the headache of trying to customize them.

I hope you have enjoyed this entry! Thank you for your comments!

RHW custom indeed take up a lot of space. Some part of the downtown highway maybe replaced with a tunnel section to avoid to much noise and air pollution exposure. Steep terrain is best well suited for a nicely planned metro line to avoid a lot of the car traffic.

Little bit more wide street grid with some more parks would help to avoid those ugly leveled like lots !

I respect and appreciate your comment. A couple things: I could expand the greenery with parks/open space, but I like the population density. Next, Tunnels are nice, but it wouldn't be very coherent to have a tunnel in one section and a highway reappearing in another, many dense cities in N.A. have highways dissecting them like spaghetti. I am not completely sure what you mean by "wide street grid," as in SAM roads that are wider? Once again, when I eventually show the wide view shot of the central city, you'll see (in part) why I didn't: space is at a premium in this tile.  Lastly, to each their own; the leveled lots don't look that good at times, but in a way reflect the variability of elevation changes in terrain. Have you been to San Francisco? While the game creates some odd graphics when it comes to levelling, the realities of building on hills doesn't change; the compensation for elevation differences comes somewhere. Most of the time it's the foundation of the structure.  Note: slope mod was not installed during the construction of this city.

Take care.

Good looking stuff. I am glad to see everything is not flat. The world is not like that and I am glad to see you working with the terrain.

Those night shots are superb.  I like the East Esplanade/Tranquility Cove, and the spaghetti highways.  Lookin good!

I like those night shots, and I see you did challenge that terrain difficulties, so that's great :P

SC4 and that kind of terrain are not good friends, so I will thank you for showing something different.

The nightshot of the highrises looks great!
