About Hamilton

The Backstory

While taking a break from working on my other CJ, I stumbled upon a region I started a long time ago, and never finished. That city is Hamilton, a port city that I modeled after my hometown of Erie, Pennsylvania, as well as other nearby Lake Erie port cities such as Ashtabula and Lorain, both in Ohio.

The City

Hamilton is located in the fictional state of Iorio, on the state's north shore of Lake Arruhu. Hamilton's economy is based upon heavy industry. In addition to being an industrial power player, Hamilton also has a prominent tourism sector, with a waterfront promenade located along the city's lakefront.

Volkswagen Manufacturing Plant, located on Hamilton's southwest side.

Volkswagen Hamilton Manufacturing is Hamilton's largest industrial employer. The carmaker has a large plant on Hamilton's west side, near West 23rd Street and Interstate 70.

Hamilton's Waterfront Promenade, Hoisington Landing

Located on Hoisington Landing, Hamilton's Waterfront Promenade is a major attraction to visitors to the city, as well as a major economic boost to the region, via the jobs it has created for the city.

From L-R: Sheraton Hotel, Downtown Hamilton; Doubletree Hotel Hamilton Downtown; Marriott Hamilton

Numerous hotels are located in downtown Hamilton, such as the Sheraton Downtown Hamilton and the Doubletree Hotel Hamilton Downtown. Marriott also recently built a high-rise hotel downtown.

Port of Hamilton

And of course, you can't forget about the Port of Hamilton. PH is Iorio's largest shipping and receiving port, and is Lake Arruhu's third-largest port.

Future updates will dig deeper into Hamilton's history, culture, economy, neighborhoods, and other regional tidbits. For now, I hope you enjoy the introduction...WELCOME TO HAMILTON, Proud of Our Past, Prepared For Our Future!

I like the industrial, American theme going on here. You give me enough to want more, without overwhelming me. The thing that draws me in are the sizes of your attractions - makes me wonder what you'll do next with them. Of course I have to list some opportunities too. ;) I would like a little more story (more background), and more details about the highlights of the city (expand on the pictures were looking at). I'll definitely come back to this one, should you continue to work on the city.
