Grüezi, and Welcome to Bietsthal. This was a region of Switzerland for a long time of its history

1848 Federal State New Federal Constitution combining elements of the U.S. constitution (Federal State with central and cantonal [state] governments and parliaments) and of French revolutionary tradition. The Principles of this constitution are still valid today.

1800 - 1900 Industrialisation Switzerland is one of the first industrialized countries in Europe.

1914 - 1918 World War I. Armed neutrality works when surrounded by warfaring nations.

1918 - 1933 Economic Crisis Twenties are not so "roaring" in Europe. Inner conflicts, general strike in 1918, 1929 world economic crisis hit this industrialized country severely.

1933 - 1936 Spiritual Defense Hitler in Germany is soon seen as a danger to Switzerland's independence. Thousands of German refugees (jews, intellectuals) accepted. Socialists and trade unions seek cooperation with liberal employers against fascist threat.

1936 : The General Peter Von Stöppenhaus wins the Cantonese election of Bietsthal, he is of facist ideology, and quickly decides to quit Switzerland and join Germany's III Reich, Opposition is killed, the democrate Paul Götterd is assassinated on "the night of the black Cats"

Many parts of the city are reformed into Jewish Ghetto's.

Here is the "Little Basel Ghetto"

Racism and Antisemitism grows higher and higher, the exposition " Der Ewige Jude" and " Jude sind nur Tieren", were jews were in a Zoo, marks it's highest point....

Hitler likes Bietsthal by the force of arms the people are galvanized and love the Fuhrer... his visit at the Bietsthal Reichkonsul was a success. the Konsul was designed by Hitler's own architect Albert Speer

When WW2 started Bietsthalers were sent onto the Soviet front, and were slaughtered by what they called "Der Rote Maschine", in 1945 when the war stopped, General Peter Von Stöppenhaus was sent to Nuremberg, and it was decided we would be executed at the Messeplatz in Bietsthal.

In 1946 It gained independance, but it's relation with Switzerland was strong.

Nowadays it is prosper and democratic after the Violence of 1936-1945

the Messeplatz in Biethstal were Peter Von Stöppenhaus was executed, the Götterd tower HQ of UBS was built and called in honor to the Democrat.
