Bijsterveld | overview and port area

NMUspidey: Thanks for that good idea! I immediately tested it on a new city and it turned out like this:

It’s time to visit the capital Bijsterveld (Bijsterfield). The city area used to be a lake, the Bijstermeer (Bijsterlake) but when Heimen received its independence in 1649 from Spain, a year after the Netherlands the first act of the new government was to dround the lake to create new farmlands. When Napoleon left the country in 1815 the people wanted to start all over, and how could they do that better than leave the old parliament buildings in Ture and move the capital to Bijsterveld, the symbol of independence? Bijsterveld has grown by that time to a small village in the polder. In the Goldenage as the 17th century is could in the Netherlands could “hitch-hike” on the Dutch success thanks to its central position in the country it was a good place to trade with. When it became the capital it quickly grew to a mid-sized city, but it never lost its small town feeling.
Stats:

This is the draft I used to make this map, to give you some overview, since it’s a draft it isn’t a well representation of my mosaic qualities

As first we took a look at the old port district, the canals were used as an easy way to transport goods from the outside to the inside of the city.

When the amount of trees grows, the HT does the same.

Havenlaan (Portavenue) the southern access road to the eastern part of the city, it also is for the bikers.

FC Drukeenpunt, the Football club of the capital with some businesses along the Havenlaan.

The Cities’ energy providers. Enerheim is a national energy company, Bijsternet a local one.

Industries on the old lakeside, where the area rises a couple of metres.

More dirty industry along the canal.

An overview of the port area.

I hope you enjoyed this entry, please comment with ideas, constructiver comments or whatever you want
