Update 11: The Mars Project
“Now, somehow, in some new way, the sky seemed almost alien.”
Lyndon B. Johnson
Welcome to 2061 A.D. (92 A.T.). Simkind was shocked with the discovery of native Martian life forms last year. This year, a new shock is coming out. Before this, let's see some interesting things about the interplanetary civilization of the Sims. Sims are now splinted by 3 races, SimTerrans, SimLunars and SimMartians. SimTerrans also splinted by 2 factors, the Old Generation and the New Generation.
Irresponsibility, racism, wars, fanaticism, pollution, paranoia. The Old Generation of SimTerrans dislike any change and they want everybody to live as they want. They only care about money and laziness.
On the other hand, there is the New Generation of SimTerrans. They were sick and tired of the global problems and they need a solution as soon as possible. They really care about environment, human rights and peace.
SimLunars however doesn't have any problem to care. Moon has plenty of resources and SimLunars are the richest Sims in the Solar System. They also love money, but they prefer more peaceful and diplomatic ways to earn them. They are excellent traders and always ready to help anybody.
As about SimMartians, they adore science and philosophy. Their slogan is "Respect and Creation" and they want to build a better place for everybody to live. However is seems that they prefer anarchism than democracy or something else similar. They reject any form of politics, religion and social ideology. They prefer science. Let's visit their Utopia.
First of all, something interesting. This is the Martian night. As we can see, SimMartians hate light pollution. This is why there are so few lights.

But what if they didn't care about light pollution? In that case, Mars would be like this! A planet size brain. Hope-1, Logic-2, Faith-3 and Love-4 are not the only colonies anymore. They are the most important, but here we can see plenty oh Martian villages, full with Sims who seek for a better world.

Mars is the new America, the new land of dreams and hopes. At least, this is how those advertisements describe the life on Mars.

Besides, nuclear fusion and nanotechnology make the Earth-Mars voyage a matter of some days. So, why not?

To make the access to space even better, SimTerrans build a large number of space elevators. Those structures are mostly a cable that connects Earth with a space station.

SimLunars use electromagnetic catapults, that use electromagnetic railroads to send the spacecrafts into space.

SimMartians however can't use electromagnetic catapults because of the gravity, neither a space elevator because of the Martian moons.

So they use space hooks, an interesting mix of the space elevator and the electromagnetic catapult. The spacecraft connects with the one of the acres of the space hook, and then the hook rotates to bring the spacecraft directly into the Martian atmosphere. Simple!

And now is time to learn about the Martian Utopia. SimTerrans uses money and politics. SimLunars uses money and politics. SimMartian reject them! No money, no politics. In fact, they established the Resource-Based Economy and the Cybernated Government.
The term and meaning of a Resource-Based Economy was originated by Jacque Fresco. It is a system in which all goods and services are available without the use of money, credits, barter or any other system of debt or servitude. All resources become the common heritage of all of the inhabitants, not just a select few. The premise upon which this system is based is that Earth, Moon, Mars, and generally all the planets in the Universe, are abundant with plentiful resource; our practice of rationing resources through monetary methods is irrelevant and counter productive to our survival.

The Martian society has access to highly advanced technology and can make available food, clothing, housing and medical car, update the educational system, and develop a limitless supply of renewable, non-contaminating energy. By supplying an efficiently designed economy, everyone can enjoy a very high standard of living with all of the amenities of a high technological society.

A resource-based economy would utilize existing resources from the land and sea, physical equipment, industrial plants, etc. to enhance the lives of the total population of Mars. In an economy based on resources rather than money, SimMartians could easily produce all of the necessities of life and provide a high standard of living for all.

So in only one phrase, money are useless!
And what is the Cybernated Government? It's when the quantum computers "take over the world". The human mind is far too simple to handle and put to practical use the voluminous information needed to operate a highly technical and advanced world society. The processing required would have to deal with trillions of bits of information per second, far too complex for human systems, particularly with the infusion of nanotechnology. So, let's forget city halls e.t.c.
A cybernated society is a society in which computers replaced the outmoded system of electing politicians that in most cases represent the entrenched vested interests. This new technology doesn't not dictate or monitor SimMartian's lives. Books such as 1984 and Brave New World and motion pictures such as Blade-Runner and Terminator 2 have spawned fear in some people regarding the takeover of technology in our society. The only purpose of the Cybernated Government is to elevate the spiritual and intellectual potential of all people, while at the same time providing the goods and services that will meet their individual and material needs.

Cybernation is the linking of quantum computers with automated systems. Eventually the central cybernated systems coordinated all of the machinery and equipment that serve the entire colony and ultimately the whole Mars. One can think of this as an electronic autonomic nervous system extending into all areas of the social complex.

In addition, to ensure the efficient operation of the city's various functions, all of the processes and services are equipped with quantum environmental feedback sensors. These sensors coordinated with redundant, back-up systems that operate in the event of failure or breakdown of the colony's primary systems. Only when cybernation is integrated into all aspects of this new and dynamic culture, can quantum computers appropriately serve the needs of all people. No technological civilization can ever operate efficiently and effectively without the integration of cybernetics as an integral part of this new world civilization.

So in only one phrase, politics are useless!
Can you believe it? A worldwide culture based on science. Not in political and social ideologies, like democracy or socialism. Money are useless. Computers liberate the Sims for the pursuit of higher aspirations in human achievement. What's the results? Million of them! No wars, no pollution, no racism, no traffic jam, no crime, no fear, no hate, no fanaticism, no, no, no...!! It's a truly heaven.
SimMartians also experiments in Transhumanism. They believe that Sims can evolve from Homo Sapiens to Homo Superior with the use of science and technology. However they know that advance technologies demand advance wisdom.

All the above described the majority of SimMartians. However some of them doesn't agree with them, so they prefer to build their mini Utopians. As we saw before, there are plenty of villages and mini colonies on Mars. Here is an example in the Ares Valles.

Oh, by the way. Mars is now terraforming. WHAT?! That's right, Mars is going to evolve into a second Earth, with oceans, blue skies and grass.

But what about the native life forms? What about the Martian bears?

What about the Martian sandworms?

What about the Martian sirens?

Yes, this picture shows Martian sirens flying around above a colony, seeking for food.

SimMartians will not allow them to die. Those creatures will genetically modificated, in order to survive after the Martian terraforming.
The Martian terraforming will need plenty of time. Meanwhile, we're going to explore more colonies and not only. Stay tuned ![]()
