No freight trains

I have a train track that runs through the middle of my industrial complex and meets up with another track that comes from my agricultural region, but I have absolutely no trains. The tracks run from one side of the region, to the other regions. The stations are unused and the freight trips are listed as long.  Any ideas what it takes to a train?

The rail lines need to be connected to your neighbour cities, first. Usually industries that border onto the rail line can send freight along it, but you can build a frieght station so industries further away can truck their goods to the rail line.

Did you give it enbogh time

eventually if everything is correct it should work.

i.e.  was the freight rail turned round the right way and connected to the train track.

I hope this short snippet of information helps.

And welcome to Simtropolis!44.gif

I'm pretty sure that you can't connect regions to each other. If this is not what your talking about, just give your rail time. Is there another rail, road, seaport or airport where freight is being exported? If so, your rail is simpley not needed.

When you say regions I think you mean neighboring cities. But the real problem is, as far as I can guess, industrial freight is used by commercial jobs not agriculture. In other words connect blue zones to yellow, not yellow to yellow. I guess I never connected farms to factories. And the neighboring cities, if already growing, must have a demand for it as well. Blank neighbors have some basic demand, strong enough that you should see some rail traffic.

wanna see frieght trains

A: make sure your rail lines are connected to your industiasl section (ps I just run the lines through my IND areas and skip the frieght station, as ind will load it's cargo staright onto a rail line if the ind touches the rail line) the rail line must exit the city

...yea that all there is too it...just make it to the edge of the map....that all frieght has to do to make a connection

...so make sure your rail lines are the quickest way off the map And NO! frieght has no other destination besides the egde of the map...it doesn't go to another cities comercial section or anything like that (use to think this myself, seems logical but doesn't happen)

as for actually seeing thre trains ...a: you have to zoom in a little...the two (maybe even 3 ) top default views, you can't see the train properly as it's a small prop...and you also have to have your city detail set at at least med level ( i say high detail level myself) for them to appear correctly...and they appear randomly from each industry, so sometimes you have to wait for the train to go by...more useage...more chance of seeing a train

If the issue is that there is a track that is by far the shortest route that is seeing no use there is one thing worth checking. I had a similar problem yesterday: great rail connections but the freight was not moving. The culprit was a custom passanger rail station that was not allowing freight traffic through. Moving it to a spur solved the issue.
