After a long summer pause I spent a few weeks solely with SimMars, but had a chance now to continue with BD.

I started creating the road markings and traffic details, work in progress:

SimFox, you were right about the Palms! I made them higher and it looks much more plausible now. Re: wide roads, probably the new road textures give a better scale sense. The tip with putting a car in the scene for scaling reference is good! Thx

Jason, thanks for the tips. Handrails are a good idea  Re: trees, I did rotate most of them, forgot a few tho, hehe. Thx for pointing it out. In general scaling objects after real sizes didnt prove to be too reliable to me when it comes to smaller object. I.e. the traffic signs, I made them according to what we have standing here in the streets in Dublin, just a normal traffic sign. In the render above you can see, however, that they appear a bit too small. It's really tricky to get proportions right with the way the SC4 grafics were done (small objects appear larger so they can be seen). Putting a car in the scene, as SimFox suggested helped me get a better sense for other objects. Also pasting screens into SC4 screenshots helps. I'm still hesitating to switch to Mental Ray as rendering always takes so long for previews, but I was gonna give the new rig uploaded by SimFox a shoot

Man I cant believe I am just finding out about this project especially how often I am on this site. GREAT WORK would be an understatement. I can not wait til you finish!!!!! And I hope its only commercial with over 20,000 jobs at least.

By the way, any new updates as the last one was 2-3 months away. The Burj Dubai actually opened last week.

Happy Birthday to the real Burj Dubai! It officially opens today!

So I didnt meet my own set target for release (before real Burj opens), but I (once again) assure you that this project is NOT discontinued and WILL be released once completed.

I started a college course last September and this has eaten up all my time. But once I have more time again, probably in the summer, I will definitely continue with this big baby.

I mean, I didnt start this just about exactly 5 years ago to not finish..... did I?

Wow - I'm amazed. I remember watching the Taipei 101 opening Live, I thought the building exploded.
