Recently, the German BATters at SimForum.de, the largest German SimGames forums, joined their forces and founded the SimForum BAT Team (SFBT). Maybe you already know the BATs created by Mathe Man , but there are some other great talents among us. We will also translate our work into English and release it on the STEX, so stay tuned! Here are some impressions what's currently under development:

A microwave power plant, just as the one from SimCity 2000/3000. We will also make a radio-telescope lot, since the shape is based on a real radio-telescope, the 100 m Radioteleskop Effelsberg in Germany (note: the values in the query are not final yet, I just put in some random numbers to show our new query UI).

I love the wind tunnel...I am getting ready to place the Sim National Raceway in the region I'm working on and if there was a ploppable version I would throw it in right next to the raceway...maybe even along with a building resembline NASCAR's R & D facility...

You guys are great!!  Keep up the good work!!

If it's not too much trouble, could you guys model a quick cylindrical foundation for the radio telescope? I like it, but I want to be able to place it on hills and still have it look good.

Hi Andreas,

it is beautifully to see also here , what a creative community simZone in Germany is.  Unfortunately my English is too bad, in order to write here more frequently2.gif

Time to dust off this thread again. The HaDiKo (Hans Dickmann Kolleg) dormitory is nearing completion, as well as the two industrial buildings shown above. The HaDiKo will come in two variations, one R-

Technically, this isn't a BAT, but rather a lot with a single custom BAT prop. Since it will be released under the SFBT label very soon, I post it here anyways. From the readme file:

    Garbage Shipping Yard

Didn't you ask yourself once how you actually get rid of the garbage that is moved to another city when you start a neighborhood deal? Well, here's the answer: A shipping yard with loading area, where the garbage is filled in cars that are picked up by trains every day. This lot does not only give you a nice visual feedback for your neighborhood deals, but also reduces the amount of garbage in your city. On the one hand, it works like a recycling center and therefore reduces the overall garbage production, and on the other hand, it works like the waste-to-energy plant internally, but without the heavy pollution this facility emits. You can use this lot independant of an actual neighborhood deal - esp. in smaller cities - which makes it a good alternative to the default landfill.

So this BAT exports landfill waste without actually sending it to another city, is that correct? A slight cheat?

Well, I won't call it cheat, since you have to pay money to get rid of the waste. 2.gif The in-game waste-to-energy plant works similar - if you don't want it to produce power, simply set the funding slider to zero, but you still have to pay the fees for the garbage pick-up service. PEGs Garbage Chutes follow this principle, too, but they give a different visual feedback. I always thought it would be nice to actually see what happens with the garbage when you establish a neighborhood deal, and this is one of the many possibilities. 1.gif

Would that not mean that if you have a neighbourhood deal set up, you would be paying the costs to the neighbouring city and also paying to have this in your city? Also would this lot require you to have a neighbouring rail link to work?

As I said before, this lot is mainly intended to give a visual feedback of a garbage export (and mabe even import). Other than that, it's totally independent from any other garbage facility or neighborhood deal. I could habe made it as an eye-candy lot only, but I thought it is much more useful to give it a real functionality.

Thanks! The blue thing is just painted - I guess it's made out of fun, so the uniform white box has a nice eye-catcher. 2.gif

Very nice domitories, they remind me a bit of the 'Bauhaus' building.  The garbage yard is good as well.

    Did I do ok?3.gif

The grammar was a bit jolty, but otherwise, well done. 2.gif Thanks for the compliments; once I'll get some time on my hands, I will release the next buildings (the dormitory and the industrial ones). The microwave power plant will take a bit longer, since the creator seems to be on vacation right now.

@Lord_Bertrum: Currently, I'm a bit busy with various things, but I will upload the industrial buildings this weekend. The other team members don't have much time at the moment, too, but we're still collecting suggestions in a thread at SimForum.de. One of the requests was the  Messeturm in Basel, Swizerland  which is currently under development. I'll see if I can compile a list.

Hahah, I told you it wasn't very good!

Awesome to hear that you'll look into it; I can't wait. I remember having numerous meals up there, and the big opera house below was cool too! Good luck with it all!44.gif

    *blows dust off the thread*

Well, it's been a while since I posted last here, but finally, I had a chance to upload two of the buildings mentioned above to the STEX.

First, the High-enthalpy wind tunnel; created by Mathe Man: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=12863

And second, the Donutor Inc., created by Spocky: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=12864
