City Section of STEX

I believe there should be a City Exchange on Simtropolis somewhere. I mean at least the small cities at least to see what other people build to get ideas on how to make a mega region. I mean almost every PC game out there has Downloads like this that let users see others creations. I know some people have Downloads from STEX and as for others do not, but those will just not show up. If it requires NAM or some major download then it should be a depedancy and if it is a lot then it would get Simtropolis users who do not own a STEX CD to purchase one via mail or someother way and also make SimTropolis make a more updated version of the STEX CD. And I think this about covers everything I was thinking. PE@CE 


                 I realize some of you have said something about the Brown Boxes and such. But this is why Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 Saved Games was such a good exchange, when DL a park in that game any files not in your game would somehow be included with the game and automatically install. Now it would be awesome if Simcity made such a drastic addon. Maybe in an expansion pack. Hope this clears any confusion. Unless you have played RCT2 then you have no clue how it worked.

This could cause a potential problem:

If a member has a plugin and the other member who downloads the city doesn't, it will show up as a big brown box. If one member has a huge plugin folder and the member who downloads the city has no plugins, it would be a city full of brown boxes.

But if a City Exchange was ever to open here, it should have limits on how many plugins can be in the city, so the problem above isn't as bad.

Posting cities would be a logistical nightmare. Not just in bandwidth and storage costs, but wiht peoples' plugins. Most members have GigaByte+ plugin collections, so verifying them all would be a challenge.

There would be very big problems, crashes, and would possibly overflow the site....

also even if plug-ins were included with the city, some plugins are incompatable with other plugins, so it'll crash their machines. however if someone/many people would create just simple non-plugin cities as like starters or kinda like a color in the book kind of thing, that'll be something different. like if there was a downloadable region with built in cities(with no plugins) just think of the many different possibilities of what people would turn that into.

Hmmmm, just as a parenthetical aside, what does one do with cities one has DLed? I have several but can't find anywhere that tells how to use them.
