Somehow, even your experiments come out looking spectacular 2.gif. Best of luck with reorganizing the plugins.

Awesome glad to see you back, wonderful teaser as always although I might add a small suggestion. The Transition between the plop and PEG pond is a little ruff perhaps either some flora in the water or rapids do a pretty good job either the ones from Jeronij or Dedgren. Just a thought can't wait to see more work though!!

So, there is a density/employment migration bug in SC. So, when connecting cities, should I only connect via rail to avoid it?

Just trying to get some more movement in the thread.

That's Blue Man Group, with their take on the X-files Theme.  On a related note, there is news of some work being done north of town by a mysterious contractor by the name of X-works, Inc.  There are rumors of paranormal activity at the site, but this has not been confirmed.  Leave it right here on KLIV for future developments....

John, there was some stirring about here--why was I not informed?!  It is great to see you showing your efforts again.  Glad you're having fun, this game always lures you back, eh?  The dam looks great.  For the plop water, if you're working with Peg's things, and the Brigantine water modd, have you tried the Tahoe Plop Water?  Can't tell if you have some in there or not.  It's not transparent, but it is a great color match.  Check out Craig's abcvs' journal for some examples.  You can also get an almost seamless transition to game water if you work on a gradual slope and turn off the waves.  What you're doing is a bit different, but just a thought.

Yeah, the snow from several early sessions has melted, and we've had some incredible Indian summer weather since.  It's always nice to continue to be able to enjoy the great outdoors, and I had a nice trip to see my brother in Wisconsin as usual.  All is well here, and I'll catch you up on the details by PM.

Best regards to Nancy and the fam!

--Liv

Wow, I just spent the last 7 days going thru all 179 pages of this CJ.

I am not new to SC (Started with 2000) but I am new to this site, to using mods, to playing SC4 AND to doing anything outside of playing "against" the game. After going thru the site, reading tidbits here and there and, finally, randomly picking this CJ out of the ones listed to give a glance at, I am just AWESTRUCK.

The time, care, patience and love show in each update so clearly. The fact that is was your relaxation after work, a labor of love and a great way to bring a simcity ALIVE was just freaking amazing. After reading the first few pages of your CJ, I started my first city that I did differently. I didn't try to shove as much as possible into every little tile. I tried to ignore the RCI graph telling me I need MORE THIS or MORE THAT!!! I stopped fighting against the game.

Instead, I tried to mini-terraform first (cause I suck at it and hadn't done it before really), tried to plan the way the city would evolve, where to place things, allowed for some free/unoccupied space...I tried to make it look more like a freaking city for once. Or at least one I wouldn't mind living in myself! I copied a bunch of little techniques I saw you use just to see if I could.

It was SOOO different. It was SOOOO much more fun!!!

I am SOOOOOOOOO far away from your level (and most of the ppl on here)! Outside of pure artistic and technical skill, I don't even have a 10th of the plugins you had at that time. But your CJ has shown me the way. And brought me Hours of joy in the process, even in your interaction with the rest of the board members and your adoring "citizens". **sighs** I wish I could live in Minas Tirith.

I don't know if your on anymore or if you got your new plugin's folder the way you wanted (read: orderly), but, for all the inspiration...

THANK YOU!

    News from Darmok...

    Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that I'm still alive and well.

Didn't play the game for a log long time, have a new PC running Win7 pro, tried the game, it runs fairly well.

As of now I don't know yet if I'll resume playing as much as I was before, I'm more into my music now and have way less time for SC4.

Ad to that more responsibilities towards someone whose health is failing, and you get the results we have now.

    This being said,

I wish to thank all of you,

    sobol (Nathan),

    David,

    crazychicken,

    Alafel,

    Matt (threestooges),

    GreekMan,

    My dear Livvie ;-)

    ELConort,

(Those are the names of those who posted on the last two pages...)

I want not only to thank you all, but also take the time tothank ALL of those who've commented on AVR since the beginning. I just can't believe the luck I had to have so many great supporters over the years.

This being said, please let me make a sidebar here for ELConort,

reading your post ELConort reminded me acutely WHY I played the game in the first place, to CREATE and have FUN doing it, I must say that the sense of fulfilment come more from post like yours who make the whole posting thing worhtwhile. Thank you so much for those words of appreciation, they really hit the spot in a way you can't even imagine.

Again thanks, I sincerely wish you continue to find joy in your playing and spread the spirit of creative playing around.!  ;-)

So in conclusion, thanks to all, I'm still here despite the very long respite, I think that it may come that I find the time and spirit to play and post again.

In the meantime I'll monitor from time to time.

I'm keeping your good vibes in my heart they're helping me these days.

    -John

Take care and enjoy life ;-)

Really great to see a post from you, John. I was always so amazed that you showed interest in my own cj, and appreciate every one of the comments you made there. But more than that, I remain in awe and impressed by your own, very significant, body of work here. Bravo.
