    Post 5(a)

    I realized that I forgot to post the pic of the MTIT itself OOPS! The MTIT board just called and asked me kindly to correct the situation!

    So here it is with the Technical College.

    Hi  Darmok,

    First at all, I am really proud to innagurate the SECOND PAGE in this great CJ 39.gif39.gif

    Really nice development in Minas Tirith. I like the way this CJ is going!!!17.gif

    Special mention to the park seen in 5.7 and 5.8. I love it. The sloped terrain is fantastic. Im sure it took you a while to finish it!!!. Just go to your suite in CR and drink a glas of champagne to celebrate how fantastic it looks like 44.gif!!!

    Just a minor minor suggestion. Some mayor mode tree tool on the corners (where grass tiles join tree tiles) would help breaking the squarity SC4 unfortunately has.

    Anyway, i like it the way it is. Keep the great job and surprise us with your imagination 16.gif

    Hey, I just read this CJ for the first time, great work! I really like your terraforming work. I do the same type of thing, it takes forever but in the end it looks awesome. I also like those houses in 5_005, they are really sweet. Keep up the great work man!

    Phase 7
    Help_desk.gif

    Jeroni,
    Second page! already! Boy am I glad 19.gif, and to top it off, you're inaugurating it.
    Yep the park took a little time to do, 1.gif I wanted it just so. And again it may change a little over the years... 41.gif as for your suggestion, it's REALLY appreciated, I've been searching how to break those squares for quite a time, and would you believe that I just plain FORGOT about the tree tool in the mayor mode!!! 42.gif So accept a BIG THANKS for that suggestion.
    Of course as I use the same time lapse technique you talked about in your CJ, they wont appear until a few updates, but they will be there
    AfroThunda,
    Thanks for the appreciation, and if you use terraforming in your city rest assure that I'll go and pay you a visit. 19.gif I REALLY like natural looking cities, I've changed my style since I saw some CJ's : Paletexan, Jhippolito and of course Jeroni who has inspired me to come back in the CJ business 3.gif Looking forward to visit Mercado Cruz...

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//MT_south_hospital.jpg align=baseline>

    Alright, southwest of the Care Center, some medium commercial and residential are growing.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_7_001.jpg align=baseline>

    While west of it, some large surface, are coming to town, including Costco. And at the same time CP&A Click Plop and Associates are continuing their terraforming.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_7_002.jpg align=baseline>

    The new commercial zoning

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_7_003.jpg align=baseline>

    A new train station will certainly help the development in that sector.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_7_004.jpg align=baseline>

    New business are coming.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_7_005.jpg align=baseline>

    New commerce at different point of entry into town, with some tollbooth to help the city budget

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_7_006.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Industrial-sector.jpg align=baseline>

    As business and industry are booming, the truckers needed a rest stop.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_7_007.jpg align=baseline>

    Just south of the industrial port sector, Costco installed it's distribution center.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_7_008.jpg align=baseline>

    People wanted entertainement, so we bought a radio station! (Money's no object!)

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_7_009.jpg align=baseline>

    On the seaport eastside, a new industrial sector is growing.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_7_011.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//MTIT_Banner_a.jpg align=baseline>

    south of the MTIT a little community is quietly taking form

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_7_012.jpg align=baseline>

    a closer view

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_7_013.jpg align=baseline>

    Another update going by, stay tuned (now we have radio!) and ther'll be more coming up!

    Take care

    Anyways, good work!44.gif

    Your_adress_here
    Again thanks for the visit  48.gif and for the tip for the seawalls. Don't hesitate to do so, I'm open to suggestions. 16.gif
    Casper3141,
    Trying to build a place where I would like to live! And as long as people are visiting, I'll kepp on posting 1.gif  Thanks for your good words 44.gif
    Bobinator,
    Thanks for your comments, and I must say that I like the way you're starting SunValley, particularly the transition between the pond and the canal !  44.gif Good start!
    And Now on with the show!

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//MTIT_Village_Banner.jpg align=baseline>

    In the following pics, we see the little community known in MT as The village beginning to take form.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_8_001.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_8_002.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_8_004.jpg align=baseline>

    The village toddlers needs education too! so the Elementary Terraforming school is built. With a grant from...(you guessed it!) CP and A.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_8_005.jpg align=baseline>

    Small apartment buildings as well as small houses are build.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_8_006.jpg align=baseline>

    Slowly taking form

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_8_007.jpg align=baseline>

    A more northern view of the area, A high rise is pointing it's nose at you!

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_8_008.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//MTIT_Banner.jpg align=baseline>

    A needed high school is built in front of the MTIT.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_8_010.jpg align=baseline>

    The new school has an immediate effect on population!

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_8_011.jpg align=baseline>

    Another private school comes to town! And has chosen a very good spot!

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_8_012.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//S_Commercial_Banner.jpg align=baseline>

    Just north of the Care Center, business is booming, two high rise AND the Mariott hotel (being built) are now casting their shadows on Minas Tirith ground.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_8_013.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Industrial-sector.jpg align=baseline>

    And meanwhile, south of the Industrial port, a Canadian Tire franchise was built.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//phase_8_014.jpg align=baseline>

    Here you go! hope you liked it.

    Once more, thanks to all of you, posters AND visitors alike. 44.gif
    Don't be strangers, and if you like what you see 21.gif  or have any comment or suggestions 49.gif , do tell me, I'm listening!  18.gif

    Oh wow, i love the first pic.  The brick walk right behind those bats (lexington homes if i remember?).. the textures and colors seem to go together well.. and how it winds in b/t buildings, and the pond.

    And i like the generous use of trees interspersed around the buildings in your neighborhoods there.

    Yes that's a part of town I had fun with, very cozy in nature! I don't remember the lot name, my plugin directory (over 300mb now, and still growing) 46.gif , was not in the beginning very well organized 28.gif , I do try to be more structured now 2.gif . (it's hard because it's not in my nature 31.gif  ) Anyway thanks! 44.gif

    Montu
    About that train station, when I use the query tool on it it's state Sim City Central Station, I've downloaded a while ago, when I didn't take care of my plugin directory, (see previous answer), so I've tried to locate it for you but sorry to say I was not successful.  15.gif I even went to the official Sim City site 14.gif . No dice! But I'll continue to look, and if I find it in that mess rest assured that I'll give you the info, AND I'll put it in it's own folder! And thanks for the interest you show at my CJ16.gif
    P.S. Here's a close-up so perhaps somebody, would be able to tell us the lot name.

    a_train_station.jpg

    your_adress_here,
    Yep, a canadian lot ad a touch of home for us! But if I used it it was only because it is a very good looking lot 19.gif  . And thank you for your constant support, it helps me to continue with the CJ44.gif

    And Now on with the show!

    ban_slide.jpg

    NO! NO! not that kind of show!
    Ah! here we go!

    ban_s_mtit.jpg

    CP&A continue their good work, just back of the new high school.

    phase_8_016.jpg

    The residential sector behind the high school keep growing

    phase_8_025.jpg

    A closer view of that section of the park

    phase_8_026.jpg

    The price to pay to be in those towers over the park is the Highway noise

    phase_8_027.jpg

    ban_n_industry.jpg

    Great news! A new port is being built on the North Shore! That should bring more prosperity to Minas Tirith

    phase_8_017.jpg

    ban_s_commercial.jpg

    We have a TEAM, The Minas Tirith Guardians Stadium is now located behind the train station.

    phase_8_018.jpg

    A statue is unveiled to commemorate the occasion.

    phase_8_019.jpg

    Some remodeling was necessary for that sector.

    phase_8_021.jpg

    A global view of the sector in question.

    phase_8_022.jpg

    The team's a HIT!, new citizens are pouring in!

    phase_8_023.jpg

    Another statue! The mayor's overwhelmed. The citizens requested that the statue adorn the Transit Tunnel entrance.

    phase_8_024.jpg

    This ends the 8th phase. More updates are coming up! So don't forget to visit from time to time!  19.gif

    Again, I thank everyone who take the time to visit Minas Tirith and a special mention  44.gif  to those who comments Mayor Darmok works.

    Take care!

    Posts from me are generally few and far between, but I knew before I finished reading update 8b that I'd have to congratulate you on a breathtaking city.  Your intertwining of trees, parks, and ponds with higher-density residential is beautiful, and your MTIT layout--including the paths and slightly mountainous backdrop--makes the entire region seem alive.  I especially like the detailed building placement: the second private school isn't placed directly on a main avenue; it's instead tucked into a quiet corner with its own low-traffic street.  The private school placement is one of many examples that show how much attention to detail and thought powers this journal.

    I look forward to the next update. 44.gif

    Also, nice slideshow graphics in update 8b.

    KING Darmok (hey you've got a church named after you in Columbia River)

    You're doing great things with your imagination her, there is great attention to detail and what seems to be an emphasis on making this city look realistic and used!

    Keep up the great work and the amazing 'photoshoping'. A region view would be cool, but I guess doing one now would give away alot of the secret of what is to come in the CJ...

    I love the cul de sac's they look a little isolated, but I guess they are part of a quiet 'suburban' area (?) the trees on the pavements look soooooooo coool!!!!44.gif

    Mayormommy
    Really nice to see you again! Don't worry I'm a bit disoriented myself at times, I'm not a very structured person, I am more a free spirit,  3.gif  type, but I realize that I should improve that part of my CJ 19.gif . In the next city, Belfalas, OOPS there goes a scoop! I'll try to intermix more global pics of the city itself. And anyway I'm sure it'll help me as well!!!
    Jeroni,
    Hey amigo, always glad to welcome you to MT 19.gif . It's fun to see  that you liked the Darmokchrome thing  3.gif  just a litlle trick in Photoshop to amuse the visitors. Thanks for your comments, and for the region shot, just look down, it'll be there!. And as I said to Mayormommy in the next city I'll do my best to improve myself on that point, and also to do it one sector at a time. I'm sure that I'll get less lost in my own city, thats why I pointed it out in your CJ that I found admirable the way you stay focused!  44.gif
    But as you pointed out, I'm using your technique, so it wont show until Belfalas CJ.
    Thanks a lot and see ya in CR 16.gif
    johnnie2
    Welcome to Minas Tirth,
    well... that's a VERY uplifting post, but I must say that the credit must come to Jeroni for the new way that I now PLAY SC4, I just did not SEE IT that way before, but as Jero says PLAY WITH IT not against it for me that was the eye opener, and I don't think that I'll play against SC4 ever again, it's more fun  this way! Takes more time (does it ever!!!) BUT it's much more rewarding!
    Thanks for your very kind comments, they show that you have looked attentively at the pictures. Come back to visit us, you are welcome in the city.  16.gif

    Pooty
    What can I say, I'm glad that such a SC4 veteran is comming to visit my CJ.
    Thanks for the appreciation, and as for the stairs, it's part of the Mayor's philosophy to facilitate, pedestrian circulation.
    your_adress_here
    Thanks for the comments
    , and for the station, I've looked in SimCityCentral, but I must say that I'm not very familiar with their site, so I didn't find it. 28.gif Perhaps someone more familiar could find it though. 41.gif
    LowLight,
    Good to see you back!
    KING... yeah Jero did that! Tough I should say that it must be one of my esteemed ancestors!  18.gif  I'm really honored by his appreciation, considering all the fabulous work he's doing. 16.gif
    Thanks for the cool comments, I'm glad you see it that way cause it's exactly what I want to achieve, used and comfortable to live in.
    TheGuardianAngel,
    Hey TGA!
    Thanks for the visit, do come back we like tourists  2.gif And as for the church, I've been there and did a little prayer to improve my skills, and to draw more visitors, and looking at those 12 replys I should say that it worked [:0]

    lllooopop
    Hey, thanks for the short, but good, comment.  Come back anytime we do have good restaurants and hotels in town. 19.gif
    movcn
    Welcome to MT,
    How I did it?, well go take a look at Jeroni's CJ follow the link in my sig, and second it takes patience and time, a LOT of time. But I LOVE it 18.gif
    Thanks for your good words

    michi5
    Thanks for your appreciation
    , and I must say that looking at the pictures my sister took when she went to Vienna, (2 years in a row 2 months the first time and 1 month this year!) that your country looks fabulous, and she told me that people there, are really friendly and cool. So you see it's that kind of atmosphere that I try to put in my CJ's now. 16.gif
    jacqulina,
    good to see you back
    , you're always welcome, as I said before the more you reply the more I'm encouraged to continue!
    Dragon,
    About the technical shots
    you'll get more of those later in the CJ and a lot more in the beginning of Belfalas! Glad to see you again and do come back the good stuff is just beginning  19.gif

    Darmok, all I have to say is outstanding.  What you've done is quite aesthetically pleasing.  Something that I've found is that the more I read city journals, the more I learn new tricks for my own.  You and jeronij have some of the most attractive city building work I've seen on here.  Great job!

    Yes man, I love your parks 44.gif44.gif  .

    The green ones its said, but the urban ones are also outstanding!!!. I think I will copy some ideas from this CJ 2.gif!!!

    Not much time. I also really like the new industrial sector. the road layout is very credible, and the industry fits really good in the area.

    Pls keep the good work !!! 29.gif

    EDIT: Jarcher, thanks for the compliments!!!

    Ja you do parks and greenery well, to echo Jeroni's comment!  Maybe some small things, but very interesting lot usages (at least to me) like the canal lots with corners, the parking lots/car parks adjacent to the seawalls (which goes well with a coastal walkway) - tho I'm trying to figure out how the cars would get to them unless they drive over the walkways  22.gif  2.gif.

    Those commercial midrises overlooking the coast look really classy (have to see if i downloaded that lot, nice one..).  Tho behind them I can't help but think it it looks a bit bare and 'unsupported' with only tiny buildings... but we see that alot in real life tho.  I'm likely just too accustomed to the sea of tall buildings in Manhattan. 19.gif   On the other hand, fewer tall ones in that area is better as I dont think you would see too many tall buildings in the vicinity of an open stadium.  Otherwise they might lose ticket sales while the local binocular shop is making tons of money!  3.gif

    Those aren't complaints btw. 2.gif  But as for constructive comments, I do have one thing I'm not comfortable with.  The coastal walkway is great, but I'm not sure I like the repetitive use of Marrast's lots there, particular that one 1x2 lot I've seen in a few of your posts along the wall. It's hard to make that one flow smoothly around corners imo.  That is, versus adding variation by using other lots as well.  Or even using different walkway kits - like Peg's boardwalks, trails, etc. - along different sections of the seawall in the city maybe to help create different atmospheres between neighborhoods.  And somehow transition them to tie them all together, like..with some larger park areas, small landmarks or 'historical' sites between 42.gif.  But I guess this city is too built up for much of that by this time tho.

    Another great post, thanks!  I'm going to stop here before I write a book. 1.gif
