Only 2 years? That's nothing!

These pics are approximately 31 - 32 years old. Yes, my mom dressed me funny. Thankfully I was gifted with better taste. The original recycler, most presents were wrapped in newspaper by my mom. On Christmas, is was the colorized comics from the Sunday paper! We could afford wrapping paper, but my mom felt it was a waste of money.

The old stove in the background would actually be somewhat valuable today, it's an early '50s model that was built like a tank. That gray sheet between the stove and fridge was a plate of solid asbestos. Oh, to be young again.

Let no one yield, we're on the field where deeds eclipse the sun; where the brave are told on a thread of gold, the tapestry is spun. As they speak of dreams, their armor gleams, this calm before the storm... Where all can see their destiny, the bishop takes the pawn.

Aw your mum and dad are so pretty, as were you.

But your dad does remind me of Vic Reeves:

Kinda hard to tell from the resolution- are all those things to the left on the shelf video games, DVDs, or manga?

And yes, you do look quite white and nerdy there. Nicely done.9.gif

...is that a cellphone picture or a webcam picture?

Not sure how old this one is, but it can't be over a year. That's me working on one of my (many) computers that are sitting in a corner of my room.

Duke: Where are you, from that angle it looks like ground zero.

Awesome pics everyone!

Yeah I think he is at ground zero.

Nice choice to pick you picture, right in between those two buildings.

I am indeed at the World Trade Center Site there, and "those two buildings" are 1 and 2 World Financial Center. But that picture was taken by me, holding the camera out at arms length, with no preview of what I was snapping... hence, the fact that those buildings nicely frame me is just a happy accident. Seriously, I'm not known for my artistic composition skills. I'm a strictly point and shoot guy when it comes to photography.

Really, though, what's special is the location that picture was taken from- inside the actual construction site (hence the construction gear), an area inaccessible to the general public.

Fancy exclusive arrangement? Not really. I was there with a couple hundred other Civil Engineering students from various colleges and universities in the area. Moles Student Day.

looking pretty good. I myself love NYC, and I still get a bit.... emotional per se when I walk by ground zero.

I tend to... look at the place pretty deep. I touch something and I start wondering about all the generations that had touched that same exact spot. Or I look at the beauty in the architecture.... all the classical inspirations, etc.

wow... i'm rambling.

Freedom Tower broke ground a while ago. Quite a bit of steel and concrete is already in place for it, but it's not above the level of the street quite yet. Remember, they're building out of a 6 story deep pit. This is the future location of towers 3 and 4, to give you an idea. As you can see, not much is happening there yet, but they are starting to blast holes for foundation footings.

Another new temporary PATH entrance opened up last week, and the underground passage under Dey Street which would establish a transfer between the exitsing (2)(3)(4)(5)(A)©(J)(M)(Z) complex at Fulton Street, the ®(W) at Cortlandt Street, and eventually the (1) at Cortlandt Street is well underway. This would make up the underground portion of the "Fulton Street Transit Hub" you may have heard about. The above ground building is still in planning and funding limbo so far as I can tell, but that's not on the World Trade Center Site.

Plenty has changed, trust me, it's just mostly subgrade stuff so far.
