Hey does anyone know about a epidemic in their cities? I had one last night that spread like wildfire and killed over 300,000 Sims. I had 377,000 sims in Kirstenville, I get a pop up window that warns me of an epidemic. I look up again.. and I have 9,000 in my city. Anyone ever have that large of loss of life? I mean, can we have a telethon for all of Sims? I cannot believe that this happened!!!

I have never seen that.   How many medical buildings did you have in your city?

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

yep...had it happen before...combination of low heath coverage, high pollution, air and water and garbage...city hits a breaking point and the sims flee like rats from a sinking ship...

Wow kinda makes you think...If your cheap then your sims will flee....

So you say if I have a highly polluted, low funded hospital having city then my sims after a certain point just leave....

Kinda bizzare...

Good find and I think if you just raise funding and don't save the game after that happens...

I thought I had plenty of hospitals. The Nurses and doctors were on strike every few days, eventhough I over funded the hospitals and clincs.. It was really weird..

Um.. maybe it's just really bad desirability? i dunno..

I think it's not really an epidemic, just a really bad city with lots of pollution and garbage.

Humm... I will have to try to see if I can get that to happen. I have had very very long points of decline, and also floating population, but really only a losses of 50k with most things I do with my cities. But I have never tried low health, high polution.

    Standby.

Im guessing that for this epidemic to occur it would take some time. Brianga26 had 377k people and im sure it took not alot of time but some time just to get that much people. And if he had that many people, that must mean he had High pollution and Garbage in he's city for a long time.31.gif

About the health funding thing, was he's Sims in the green level alittle or were they still in bad health before the epidemic occur?42.gif

Im currently using the Big City Tutorial that was already on SC4 when you first get the game. It would be a pretty good testing city if you don't want to mess up your own cities.29.gif

=It has around 22k and low den. with pollution already around but not that much.
=I used the Howdryiam cheat so i don't have to waste time putting water pumps around. 20.gif
=I zoned Med. Density in Residents. I dezoned some of the landfill so they can't put anymore trash there.
=I also started placing coal plants in random around to get more pollution.
=And i placed only 2 clincs and overfunded them.

So far I rose to 50k people. And i didn't place any schools or Police Stations. and the City already has i think either 2 or 3 fire stations.

No Epidemic yet but i feel im getting close. 3.gif

Well, I am curious as to where those people flee to, if you don't have any other cities/villages in the region. They must all have fleed into the depth of mountains, and then eaten by bears !

How is your city built? Dense/highrise or sparse/low-height?

Hah...That's happened to me before as well. I tried being the evil dictator for once, I had a $30 000 monthly profit and my Sims just ran out on me. It was actually kind of funny as I really didn't care about them and I sat back and laughed. If this sounds mean, I can't be nice all the time!

I didn't think a companty would actually put something like that in a game... that is pretty realistic in some ways... making sure you don't let your health down for a really long time... amazing ain't it?

You realy believe him? Oh c'mon, If this epidemic really existed, don't you think that somebody would have already noticed it? It's only a guy which try to draw the attention of some people, apparently, it succeeded. 30.gif

I've never heard of an epidemic in SC4 before.  What did the warning message actually say?  Did you see sims dieing in the streets?

The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older.  Shorter of breath, and one day closer to death."
