Equinox... i was thinking... maybe NDEX could use auto-installers like BSC Does... it makes it alot easier to me to install them... and they clear up alot of litter in the plugins folder...

Well, we have gone over this several times. In fact, please refer to a copy of the readme we have included in each of the NDEX releases for a statement referring to this issue. Thank you!

-edit: please excuse my emotion, lol. We are STRONGLY against the implementation of EXEs.

The BSC has had problems with these, they are complicated, and if you cannot unzip these...bleh, they are easy, and no exes! This cannot happen...

What's wrong with getting mad at the idea of EXEs?  (I hate using those things with a passion; it drives me kwazy and I feel as if my intellect has just been insulted - lol)

If our users can't figure out how I [logically] organize the files within the zips, well, tough luck to them, and if they can't read a file titled READ THIS.txt to find out where to put a certain file, well, personally, I don't give a crap when they complain that their game runs terrible because of my downloads.  If they had read the instructions, they'd be fine, but they didn't ... so tough luck.  Even in the older downloads, I tell you which lot files go with which type of lot, as blatantly obvious as I make it, just in case people have problems ... seriously, it aggrivates me to even think of how much people avoid reading.

Furthermore, the idea of updating all of my lots scares me (to fix the query crashes and other issues), because I *KNOW* I will get [a flood of] PMs on how my bugfixes didn't work, when really the person has two duplicate copies of the lot files, the older one happening to load afterwards so it overrides the original they took all the time to download.  What will I say?  Tough luck; read the readme or suffer the consequences.  It all depends on how you organize your files, and EXE installers can't do anything to fix this (other than do it for you ... just sad).  I wish I lived in a day and age where people weren't afraid of reading.  Why?  Because it's a hassle to everybody they $%&^! to.

Talk about getting emotional over what theoretically is not an issue ...

lol, nosoupforyou, don't worry about it.  2.gif

I have made the first update to the older NDEX files, adding the new query, making the lot count for the little Number of NDEX Lots in (city) counter, and making it appear with all of the other NDEX lots at the bottom of the landmarks menu.  I will most likely edit this post with a list of all of the lots I have updated as I do so.

1-23-2005: Juneau Bank Tower by DuskTrooper
    1-28-2005: NDEX Urban Billboard Set

I'd advise downloading all of the aforementioned lots again, and ensuring that existing copies of these downloads are DELETED ENTIRELY before installing the updates.  They solve problems, fix potential crashes, and also add some cool effects.  I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Well EQ since you're not on MSN can i ask if the rendering of the tower went okay?

No, you can't, but since you did ... yes.
I'll have it to you modded tomorrow night when I sign on ...
... and you can deem if it is to your standards or not.

To quote the readme that is included with the Jacinto Lofts:

    49.gif

Some members of the Simtropolis community who release many items on the Exchange have decided to switch to using executables (Windows app or program, .exe files) to distribute their creations. NDEX has decided to stick to zip files containing the files you need, no fancy installers. However, you should be wary of where you put the files included, and be sure to read the instructions stated above.

    That rocks! 29.gif

Nosoupforyou, it's not in all of the readmes, and in the older ones it is more poorly-worded.

At the moment I am making more billboards to update the billboard set!

You might be interested to know that thanks to GrampaAl, the prop family has a name in the Lot Editor now ... anyways, some of the new billboards include CS Source, the Valve logo, a Saleen S7, and a bunch of other stuff.  After I update the original set I might release some add-on packs, too, but for now you need to download the update before anything else as the prop family ID has changed.

The colonial Oaks Shopping Center has been released.

    Colonial_Oaks_Day.jpg

    Description:

The Colonial Oaks shopping center was designed to be a hybrid suburban/urban shopping center. It features two-story big box stores in a nice package that will fit into almost any neighborhood. The parking lot size has been reduced due to the fact that service is quicker, and the fact that more people will walk to and from these stores. Any extra parking can be had by parking on the streetfront. Only high-end retailers are allowed to lease in this prestigious shopping center.

These lots (there are five different models included - Papyrus Bookstore, Organique Foods, Pets Market, Vanderbilt Furniture, and Global Market) are 4x5 tiles and provide 150 CS

Thanks for the close-up shot, it really shows off those nice brick textures to great effect and I love those windows, they have a great mock Georgian feel to them that works so well with the colonnaded front, all in all this is very good work that will fit in with the game particularly well and they should find their own particular niche.

I don't think we really gave this one much attention:

NDEX Riddle Me This Nightclub by N747

    Club_RMT_1.jpg

    Club_RMT_2.jpg

    Description:

Formed from the derelict ruins of a nuclear power plant abandoned and deactivated due to old age, the Club RMT is an intense attraction for angst-filled teenagers everywhere. Its vibrant lighting and raucous parties are wild and run all night long, every night of the week. Adults don't like it much, but those rebellious teens certainly do.

This is a ploppable lot found at the bottom of your landmarks menu, grouped with other NDEX lots. It does not generate any radioactivity, as it is 'derelict'. It costs

Excellent idea, Dusk.  That is perhaps my favorite NDEX creation, and it deserves more recognition.  44.gif
